@@MattAspland Matt, i have a problem when i try to use a cinematic camera to render this video on the TV screen the video appears to go faster than the actual cinematic and the video on the TV is choppy i tried changing FPS and matching it too but it doesnt seem to work...
That's cool bro, like it 🙂🙂👍
Thank you man!
Awesome mate!

Thank you, and that's great to hear! Happy to help :)
Very cool!
Thank you Steve! :)
Nice one. Thanks for the Tutorial...can we adjust the volume of it?
Thanks!
Hey Matt, i have modeled a Scifi monitor and i want some scrolling texts to appear on the screen. I am going to make it for UE4 and i am wondering if this is applicable for a commercial prop. I am curious if it would be overkill to create a second material for the screen -animation- like you did. Would it affect the draw call and performance? what do you think about this? Btw thanks for the information..
Great video. Unfortanatley I don't use blender and trying to download the model and Import it as one single object has proven difficult. Would greatly appreciate an fbx if possible. Also, would love to see a future tutorial that possibly shows how to create different videos appearing on screen when you put different items in the tv (like vhs tapes in a player)
Try importing it as a skeletal mesh and then making it back into static mesh, it worked for me.
Are there any like restrictions to what video type, etc, you use
Or
Maybe performance taking a hit because of something like that?
thx cool video
Thank you man! :)
Thanks Matt, love the vids, also, it looks like for VR Android is not enabled the attenuation... I have read it in some forums, currently trying to extract audio , and playing at the same time, usind an audio component...
Is this performance expresive? If i want to use hunderts of these TVs like 1984
what about an interactive TV where you can change channels? and thank you so much for the video, it really helped me!
Fixed it. Must install the Electra plugins
I'm unable to get my media audio to play in sequencer (I added the sound component in properties and added media player, so that is not the solution). Any ideas on how to get the audio of the media to play in sequencer? The setup is I have a movie theater where the camera slowly moves into on rails. The movie on the screen plays in sequencer, but I'm not getting any audio from the media. I'm assuming there is a way to get the audio into the sequencer because there is a "sound component" in the media player properties that lets you adjust the specialization and attenuation.
Sir i have problem with when i packing project and give it to other media file missing. is there any setting for store media file ??
Hello there - Thank you for the helpful tutorial - I made it work in UE 4.27 - But the video does not play {TV screen} is white? Any idea why?
Thanks again :)
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
No problem! Always a pleasure :)
This video was extremely helpful. I was just wondering about some issues if anyone could help. So firstly, I have tv's playing in one room using this tutorial, however it is far too loud and I have no idea how to change the volume. Secondly, I have different music using a sound cue in a different room but it doesn't work if I start the level in the TV room where the media source is playing. Any tips/trick would be hugely appreciated
Probably late but I believe you can set priority of sounds being used in the details section.
0ne tip f0r ever0ne: plug the texture int0 emmisiv c0l0r instead 0f base c0l0r. it will be brighter.
Hey, my TV thing isn't really working. When I open the source, all it does is show the first frame of the media. My version is 4.20.3. Could you reply with a fix?
hmm trying this in VR project and it doesn't work (Oculus Quest). If I hit Play/Simulate it works in the editor, but when on headset it is just empty black screen.
how to mute other sounds and keep only the one of the video? I am using the matrix city sample and I do not find a way to mute the city sounds while the video play. I could only mute everything including the video audio !??
thanks
Happy to help :)
Very nice, but most tv submit some light when playing? :)
Thanks, and you're right. You could add a small spotlight in it coming out of the TV, or make the material emissive so it emits some light too :)
@@MattAspland But it won't make the tv change light colors like in real life, for example the screen is yellow or mostly yellow then the light will be yellow
Could you make interactive Pc, please? Also as always, great video.
That's a great suggestion! I can definitely look into that in the future, and thank you!
EZ , thanks
sunggestion: how to make equipment store or character store in ue4
No matter what video i try and use the texture sample material just goes white ...
shouldn't the TV screen material be emissive?
I have a question on how to make the video play when you have sent the file to others? My teacher opened my task but the vide wasn't playing...does it have something to do with packing or???
Hi, did you package the project, or just send over the engine folders? If you packaged the project, did it still work on your machine when packaged?
@@MattAspland I packaged the project and it worked on my pc. The teacher has both the packaged version and the work file
@@lucycutie0195 Ah okay, you may have missed a setting. In your project settings, go to "packaging" and then make sure you have "Exclude movie files when staging" ticked and add the movies into the arrays underneath it in "Specific movies to Package" and "Specific movies to copy".
Hope this helps :)
Oh man that is really cool can you make a camera out of it?
Thanks man, and if you mean a camera view is shown on the TV, I have a video on that too. If you mean something else, let me know :)

@@MattAspland oh thank you
@@nextanvil3346 No problem :)
Does anyone know how to add a video player into a widget, like give the users the ablity to play and pause a video export (with audio)?
You can use this same method to draw the texture to a widget, and add buttons for pause/play to control the Media Player.
Or, you can use the experimental Web Browser plugin and load your source there. But in my experience that plugin has a lot of issues.
I followed your tutorial fully. The video plays in the Media Player, but it play in my main scene. Please help if you can
got the same problem, just make sure that you have set a media source in you tv event graph and it should work
How in the world did you convert the blend file to fbx?
Hey, you'd want to open up the downloaded file inside a free 3D modelling software called Blender, then export it as an FBX and import it into Unreal. I have a video covering this :)
ua-cam.com/video/5svTBl8dw9o/v-deo.html
www.blender.org/download/
@@MattAspland oooh I have to do it on blender, I tried online converters but they don't work anymore for .blend files. Thank you for the detailed answer I really appreciate it :)
What about a radio?
anyone know why my video just doesnt play?
anyone know how to loop the video?
"i like"
I get the white screen nothing works
it has no sound. in ue5.
I followed this step by step and my material is always white and does not animate
Did you fix this I also get the same white screen :')
@@purplecookie687 yes! I actually ended up having to watch like 6 different videos and kind of "mash" them together. Another problem I faced was that the video on the tv worked in realtime but not in the sequencer. When I finally got it working in the sequencer with the media player, it no longer works in realtime! Any suggestions?
@@dacarly1330 I actualy found out my issue which was to make sure the plugin called "Electra player" is ticked then restart. This fixed my issue. Im not sure about the sequencer I havent used it yet. I hope this works for you.
@@purplecookie687 thanks!
How add audio to tv
Hi, I showed you this in the video. It is the media sound component we added in the TV Blueprint. Let me know if you need some help with it.
@@MattAspland
ah, sorry my mistake ,thanks ..
.. PS i like your videos and it's great that you communicate with the fans
@@mirapakulinek No worries man, and thank you, I appreciate it. And I love interacting with fans :)
in my case the image its upside down, HEEELP!!!
it doesnt work for me in UE5. Any help?
Every tutorial i do that you make DOES NOT work
Agreed. All of the steps go to fast. Every video I watch, I have to ether stop and go back in the video or sit there and diagnose the problem for 20 minutes or Google it. :(
SPATIALIZATION.
Ugh.
This tutorial falls on it's face in UE5, find another tutorial. It won't work this way.
