It’s comprised of 753 layers, mostly text, and took about 50 hours to make. Yes, it’s pretty slow to work with at this point and this is definitely the most elaborate visual aid I’ve ever made for a performance. If you find something I missed, feel free to comment or email me and I will update it after I confirm it. This was way too involved for me to just abandon it. This is by far one of my top faves. The Ancient city has a melancholy feel to it, as if you have to go back in time and see a magnificent city in utter ruins. Hard to explain, but the isolated characters, the music in different backgrounds, the sadness of what once was, it all fits perfectly.
There's always a strange sense of comfort with PS2 games that I feel when I play them, Regardless of what it is. This one in particular is the one that does it for me. I don't know what it is, The game may be brutally difficult but it's also relaxing at the same time with the soundtrack and the dated graphics.
I remember playing this game when I was young with my grandfather. I could only remember the beginning cut seen of the soldiers blood hand print on the door. The nostalgia hit I got was fucking insane.
This game has very disturbing moments such as the corpses hanging in the dark room in the king's tomb or the prisoner soldier near the Widda temple who ends up devouring his companions
These King’s Field games, while appearing clunky, were ahead of their time. This one in particular is quite good. The ambience and music give it a lonely and melancholy feel that we really see fleshed out in later FromSoft titles.
@@filho4437I wouldn't say that kf is ahead of it's time, because it's more like a reimagination of a full 3D dungeon crawler environment with his own ideas, games like Ultima underworld or dungeon master already did the same as kf, but at least kf has a better control scheme (in my opinion) than the two games mentioned.
Dark Souls 2 has always given me a strong Kings Field vibe. For all it's flaws, it has an atmosphere and 'vibe' about it that no other Fromsoft game after TAC has. DS2, for all it's many flaws, has this impenetrable air of mystery surrounding it - the strange shadowy figures, the inexplicable geography, and the more fantastical almost fairy-tale esque art-style. Such a strange and beautiful game, even if it is still the least polished of the three.
The director of Dark Souls 2 actually worked on another from soft game called shadow tower, which was sort of a spin off of kingsfield. That might explain the similarities between the two🤔
Tons of enemies from Shadow Tower are in Dark Souls 2. Gyrms, Giant Malformed Gross Trees lol, Giant Malformed Mushroom....things, even the Undead Soldiers. Shadow Tower is unbelievable.
Yes, even the giant you energize with some item to open a door at the forest, very similar to those on DS2 with souls. And then the inside is very.. Drangelic castle wall texture, with series of knights that wake up. Similarities are crazy. And way more stuff, like the amazing frozen map that unfreezes and reveals more loot and enemies (like that one DLC in DS2), those annoying spitting statues, are hanging statues in the silent room with whispers on KF4. The only thing I saw that rather reminded me DS1 than DS2 was the existence of Lizard Men as enemy type. And the always recurring Moonlight Sword through all KF series. But really KF4 is both my favorite in atmosphere and music and locations and really reminds me of DS2 inspirations.
@@shelly8563 Yeah maybe the first one is the hardest to get into and the most outdated but most people start with the 2nd one which was called just King's Field outside Japan. It is a good starting point imo.

Yeah Souls games have a melancholy solitude to them. They are meant to feel hopeless and bleak with only near glimmers of life between the enemies and hardship your character faces.
The spirit of FromSoft does that to characters. It roams the pages, hunts, looking for characters filled with reason, and slowly twists their reality as it detaches them from their surroundings. Soon, they become the very "dialog" they've been assigned to: arbitrary words collected into what Dark Souls fans call a story. Cracked Red-eye Orb could've been Blunt Rock Mayonnaise and it would've worked equally well, because most items are just rows in an Excel with arbitrary names without meaning. Item 17 has Effect 6 and Effect 14, multiplayer item. Eeny meeny miny moe, we'll call you Bloody Toe. Or why not Finger? Yeah that's it, Festering Bloody Finger. FromSoft has a process that churns out more of this, until infinity.
I had some seriously weird ass dreams with this game playing in the background. I kept hearing a dog yelping in my sleep and no one would help it. Coming too, it was one the part where your in the snake cult area. That was messed up. No more of that then lmao.
I bought hammer of woe and water carver from chad. Water carver is great against the red lizard enemies, and hammer of woe trivializes the storm section of king's throne because the slow debuff allows you to circle strafe the four-armed knights.
