I noticed that you built a stand for this ship. Wondering if you have more detail on how you did it. This looks different from you video about building a stand. The part I am confused about is the drilling of holes in the ship for the mounting screws. How do you get them at 90 degrees etc? Great builds and videos!
Unfortunately, I did not make a detailed video about this model because this channel did not exist then. I just put a keel horizontally with a level, placing wooden bars under the model... And then I drill. You can find more detailed videos about this, for example:

Okay, this is on your head...I've watched enough of your videos and you've convinced me to try my hand at building a wooden model ship. Your videos are clear and easy to follow with so many excellent techniques that I have the confidence to make the attempt...if I get addicted to building wooden ship models, it's partially your fault...but then if I have too much fun, it's to your credit. Thank You for the inspiration.

Ольга добрый день, подскажите пожалуйста, гвоздевание палубы и обшивки корпуса, Вы каким размером сверл делали, просто нигде немогу найти по этому поводу информации, для модели масштаба 1/65. Спаибо.
Гвозди могли бить от 10-12 мм до 20 мм в диаметре, а пробки 1-1,5 інча (25-37 мм) в зависимости от типа судна...

That would explain sanding through the first layer
How long do you let the glue cure before you glue the next object. For instance when you glue a frame how long do you wait until you glue the next frame.
Frames and planks are very important elements, so it is better to clamp them for 10-12 hours, even if the manufacturer writes that it is enough for 20-40 minutes. Because PVA completely hardens in 24 hours!

What kind of varnish on 5;00 onthis video please
On this model, I used tar diluted with white spirit. But the same effect can be obtained with bitumen varnish diluted with turpentine.

On this model thin walnut planks - they are easily bent directly on the hull without additional equipment!

Я тогда еще не снимала весь процес так как еще даже не било идеи делать канал, когда стоирла ету модель. Поетому тут в основном фотографи даже, а не видео...
@@OlhaBatchvarov понятно. на видео всё простоа на самом деле работа очень кропотливая и объёмная. по чуть по зёрнышку изо дня в день ))) я пока только скелет собрал. Досточками страшно обшивать )))

La Pinta was the fastest of the three Spanish ships used by Christopher Columbus in his first transatlantic voyage in 1492. The New World was first sighted by Rodrigo de Triana aboard La Pinta on 12 October 1492.
It is not known how the fate of the Pinta ship developed after the voyage of Columbus.

Занадто мала модель з тонким кілем - штекер для живлення постійного струму 6 мм, а тут кіль усього 4 мм. Хібащо пожертвувати одною шпилькою і вивести конектор на підстаку чи в моєму випадку вітрину. Але тоді модель вже демонтувати і перенести на іншу підсттаку чи подіум - не можливо буде через цей провід...
По какой технике вы гнули планки на ребро?
Тут я не гнула - планширь биІл вьІрезан лазером. А вообще если нужно гнуть - предпочитаю использовать орех, предварительно замочив в кипятке и под слабой мощностью паяльника в узел завязьІвается)))

He visto videos de otra gente, cómo lo construyen y, además de ir comentando pasa a paso, se va viendo como lo hace. De esa forma, en mi opinión, es más instructivo.

Alle immer bauen " Santa Maria " , " Pinta " aber hat mehr Erfolg gechabt ( kamm wenigstens zurük Heim ) . Und war wirklich recht schlau von Innen entschieden als erstes die " Pinta " bauen lassen . Gut gemacht also . Weiter so machen !

Спасибо! О как я вас понимаю - такой акомпанемент и у меня был в исполнении моей мамы. Пока не продала первую модель, после чего она переквалифицировалась и сама начала крутить канаты, что бы я быстрее строила)))
I have just found your channel and love your builds. I generally build plastic kits, but think that. A wooden ship would make a wonderful change and challenge. Cloud you recommend a suitable kit for a beginner with now experience of wooden kits?
I'm glad you like it!
The only advice I can share is to choose a ship that you will be interested in building. Because you have to make every detail before gluing it, unlike plastic kits. I once built a small plastic boat and was shocked by how difficult it is to paint it to look like a wooden one... And also keep in mind that a small model is not always easier to build than a large ship. I often see this mistake when beginners buy a boat, hoping that if they manage to build her, they will build a ship for her! This is a fatal mistake!
Any kit is good, regardless of a size as Olha mentioned. Personally i would suggest trying Model Shipways' "Sultana" model, it has a build practicum you can follow along with enough details and suggestions for first time wooden ship model builder. You can just download a practicum before buying the unit to taste the water... Good luck

I don't use varnish at all!
Only oils, waxes, shellac or bitumen, as on the original models of the 17th century...
On this model, I used tar (or bitumen) diluted with turpentine.

Great finish (mix of tar and turpentine) how did you do the wood pins and what distance were they apart? This was not included with the kit as it came. correct? Was the tar sourced from a hobby supplier or from? Great work

Wooden pins are just ordinary toothpicks. And the tar is from the model store. It is also sold in decoupage shops...

When you stained the hull of the Pinta, what stains did you use for the hull? I am in the process of doing the Santa Maria. Really like the videos of your building of the Pinta. just hope I can do the rigging as well as you do in your videos. I used tar diluted purified gasoline (white spirit) or you can get the same result with bitumen varnish diluted with turpentine.

Добрый день! Чистовой корпус матовым лаком покрывали? А чернение использовали?
Корпус покрыт дегтем разбавленным уайт-спиритом. Тот же ефект и от битумного лака можно получить...

You've shown me a couple of new techniques, also I'd use wing nuts to secure the ship to the stand.
Some of these kits could do with more formers to help with the planking and this is one of them.
The bigger the gap between the formers makes the planks flatten and loose their shape.
