    Taking the gondola up to Piz Gloria nowadays, still feels a bit like this movie scene. Especially if you are afraid of heights - the gondola is really moving very high above the ground (some hundred meters).
    The amazing thing is that more or less the whole setting is still exactly as in 1968, when the movie was shot. However, unfortunately the original infracture of the gondola will be replaced with a modern one in the upcoming years in order to increase tourist capacities....

    Even though Lazenby is not considered the best Bond, I do think OHMSS is one of the greater films. I also think if Lazenby had stuck around to do more Bond films (especially as he'd been offered a 7 film contract), his performance as Bond may have gotten better through each film. He might have even gone on to become one of the greater Bond actors. But unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. Oh, and can you imagine how it would've looked if Connery had done OHMSS and his voice been dubbed by George Baker for these scenes?

    • @dennisbaker1002
      @dennisbaker1002 5 років тому +2

      We can only imagine Sean in OHMSS! In my opinion, it would be the second best film in the entire series, second only to Goldfinger. Sean would have enjoyed a great script and Bond would be full dimensional and human.

      @hugodrax71 5 років тому +6

      Connery is the best 007 of all but I don't agree - what makes OHMSS so different is exactly the fact Connery isn't 007. The film would have had a totally different vibe with Connery in the role. Lazenby makes Bond human and vulnerable which is a successful element of OHMSS in my opinion. That wouldn't have worked with Connery. And as much as I love Connery as 007, he'd lost interest after Goldfinger and began to sleepwalk through most of his performances as Bond.

    • @cockshield

    I endore this movie so much, the setting and the mood is just perfect, as well as the movie.... but i know this area very well, and so i couldn´t overlook a lil mistake, at 0:38 they are flying the wrong way! They should be headin west from lauterbrunnen to Piz Gloria, but they are heading north, on the left cliff you can see mürren which should be right to the helicopter according to the movie, and way in front of the valley you can see wengen on the right hillside....

    big Barry fan, this is one of my fav short cues of any of his scores. I went to Interlaken mainly to visit Piz Gloria, and it was okay, has a large viewing platform. Food was a big dissapointment, overpriced and the "007" burgers meh. However anyone going I recommend the cliff walk 2 stops down, that was a mind blowing experience. Only visiting the Grand Canyon had I ever had such a similar feeling of vastness and scope.
