With her game crashing so frequently, I was curious about what exactly causes it. I watched multiple videos explaining that the game was designed to hold cell data for way too long and doesn't flush the RAM except for entering very specific doors or fast traveling. I downloaded both the Steam and GOG versions of New Vegas, went into every house in Goodsprings and then ran all the way to Vegas without fast travelling, then went into every single door I could there to try and make the RAM fill up and crash the game. I could never get it to have any problems on either version for some reason. Not even a slowdown. Either I'm incredibly lucky, was accidentally triggering some of those RAM flushing doors, the game is very picky with what hardware it works on, or her mods were making it more unstable.
Something has to be wrong with her game here. I have never seen a good install of New Vegas crash that much. Even the vanilla game is pretty stable on modern systems.
Bethesda games before Skyrim were not very accepting of taking focus away from the program. It was strongly recommended that you run the game(s) in exclusive full-screen and limit alt-tabbing out.
I have a mod collection installed and I haven’t had *nearly* as many crashes as Mousey. This is disappointing, but it looks like she really enjoyed the game nonetheless, so 🤷♂️
I watched that same video the other day. But I’m playing full vanilla and am about 15 hours in and haven’t had one crash. I got mine from gamepass though so idk if the Xbox launcher has better support even though that wouldn’t make any sense. I almost wonder if it could be mod load order or something.
The engine can be picky as to how often it just decides to crash, I’ve had fresh installs go fine on PC with barely any crashes and some instances of constant crashing in some areas. I’m more of the opinion of the engine showing its age when it has to deal with more updated graphics cards and newer specs, but I know that point can be countered with older but more stable game engines. It’s just one person’s opinion on the game.
its rly interesting to see vtubers and anime fans give a fallout game a try after being used to them only playing skyrim and only just "knowing of" fallout 4
The Doc also says different things depending on how high your intelligence is. If it is 10 he suggests the bullet did some good to your head. If it's at 1 he says maybe he didn't get all of the bullet out
It's funny seeing this with so many crashes, but I'm using the Viva New Vegas modlist plus a bunch of other random mods for extra quests and player housing and other totally normal and not weird things, and I don't think I've crashed once so far. VNV is 110% worth the time to set up. I never realized until my current playthrough how many of the big mods I was used to were completely outdated and causing more issues than they were worth. Even some of the fixes I used to rely on, and I didn't even know they were obsolete until I looked into VNV and their "mods to avoid" section.
At the start Laser pistol if you pick energy. Dynamite if you pick Explosives. Stimpaks if you pick Medicine. Razor if you pick melee and Boxing gloves if you pick unarmed. If you do 10.000 unarmed damage you get a perk that gives 30% more vats punches. 10.000 melee damage gives faster attack speed. Drink 25 alcohol for XP and a secret perk.
Always fun to see a model showcase from Mousey. Gotta say, as good as most of them are? My favorite is still the original 2020 model, almost entirely because of the $2000, 250 day (LMAO) "For a better workspace" fundraiser. Still easily the most heartwarming 7-ish minutes in recent memory!
Yeah but there's no way she's beating it on stream unless she just ignores all content except the main quest with the Platinum Chip. I'm playing a generally normal playthru, ignoring half the factions and most companions, and I've put 100 hours into the game so far
Regarding special, my preference is to dump all points in intelligence since that gives the most skill points in the long run. Skills >>> Special stats since, unlike Fallout 4, almost every check is a skill check. Intelligence is goat because you earn MORE skills as you level up!!! Charisma is almost useless, all checks are for speech or barter (skills). Luck gives points to all skills, but this loses importance the more you level and earn points. Strength (Damage+weapon effectiveness) and Endurance (HP) are great if you love melee and otherwise you can be average. Perception helps your accuracy (but weapon skills can compensate for low stats). Agility is nice for Vats and speed, but the best way to play the game is with x2 speed using console commands.
A low intelligence build is fun too. It you just use the skilled exploit the plus 10 to every skill is really helpful at the start of the game then the +5 later on OWB really helps

The only problem I have is the 8 hours, I am going to have to watch it in installments, Ha Ha Ha. So Lets Go.
fallout new vegas is the best "modern" fallout game, by far, the dialogues, the writting, the themes, the intelligence of characters, their goals, the total grey area, Ulysse and graham in both their respective dlcs are probably the best deutagonists/antagonists. Even game systems with the ammunitions and the variety of weapons. Such a good game, a level sadly bethesda can never reach if they keep their head writter that has been dumbing down everything.
The correct option would have been have been to have decent strength endurance agility remove all charisma have some eh luck and dump things into perception and intelligence and go with energy weapons lockpick melee weapons

@@kilroy6806 we have legion at home. They didn't really get much development compared to big factions like NCR and Legion, but the game was created in 9ish months so I really can't dunk on the creators about it. Powder Gangers and The Kings I would have liked to see more fleshed out too.

My first fallout game was 3. I skipped to fallout 4 (great mechanics and gameplay, but the story aspect was lacking) saw the horror that was Fallout 76 on release, and then took a break. I came back to New Vegas, and even though it has its quirks, I love this game. The storytelling is awesome in this one, even if some other parts of the game seem unfinished or rushed. I also play it in German for language learning purposes, and even though the voice acting is weird sometimes, I’m really enjoying it. Also to everyone saying Charisma is useless, that’s an accurate assessment, but I still like to get my speech skill up really high as soon as I can. I like to get good endings in side quests and that usually involves being able to convince people.
Lol, as much as I loved New Vegas, I wouldn't recommend it to people who are checking out fallout for the first time, the game has so many problems on modern systems and having to install mods is a big hurdle for those that aren't savvy with it. I woulda recommended 4, just because you can dive in and have some fun while getting a taste for the tone of the franchise, even if it is more watered down than 3 or new vegas. Just hoping they remaster or remake 3 and New Vegas to run on newer systems, but I imagine they would mess up the story somehow... I mean as much as people hate on Starfield, the game is much more stable than any of Bethesda's previous games and it would be cool if they used that engine on remaking some of the older fallout games.
Starfield is the same engine. Bethesda has not changed engine since morrowind. They call it Creation Engine "2" but its all the same stuff from Gamebryo.
Its fascinating to see somone play New Vegas who watched the show first. It must be like going from a rancid tin of dog food to Beef Wellington prepared by Gordan Ramsay.
Wow can't believe how bad of a build she made for herself. Charisma should have been 1 since you can increase speech by leveling. Intellegience should be fairly high. Like 8 or 9 so you get the most skill points every level up. Strength should be at least 6 so you meet most weapon requirements and help with not being over encumbered. Luck 9. I always go with a critical hit build so luck is a must. Also implants let you raise stats by 1 later in the game based on your endurance. I play sniper/ long distance/ 1 hit,1 kill type character, stealthy type so endurance not as important.
It's one of the better games in the series . made in 18 months and it felt closer to the first 2 games. play new Vegas with one intelligence its awesome
Had no idea Mouse's first New Vegas stream was such a total trainwreck lmao I feel bad for her, but at the same time she severely underestimated why there's a specific modlist that everyone recommends to follow In case you want to know why it's such a mess, 1) She didn't follow Viva New Vegas which meant her load order and choice for patches is likely wack. YUP is more like a series of small bandaids than a fix-all that Mouse thought, also many patch mods on Nexus are currently outdated so she likely downloaded those which can cause issues. 2) She had autosaves on, I'm not sure why, but autosaving will crash your game, I think Viva New Vegas makes a point to disable it during playthroughs. 3) She approached Nipton from the East, because of this she did a tiny sequence break that harmed the story's progression, so the attack on Nipton wasn't properly set up, and the gunfight she kept hearing was missed entirely, causing the jumpscare in the General Store.
Bruh, the stat advice is very, very wrong. Charisma should be a 1 or a 2 at best. I even saw someone say they “increase later” which means they very clearly have not played fallout. I mean, you can, but it’s a wasted perk. Although 1 int is funny, 1 int is not great for a first play through.
Five intelligence is technically the best stat for intelligence because somebody beat the game in 10 minutes with five intelligence and for optimal time you need five intelligence
Saves having to put skill points in barter and speech early on, and makes companions very usedful. Plus from a roleplaying perspective there's nothing wrong with making a charisma build. It might not be the meta but if you're just playing the game to enjoy it then that really should not matter.
actually no you are wrong--charisma is more then just speech--if you ahve commpanions it gives tgem more damage and for the end game you need at least a 8,you can basically get all your stats up to near 10 with implants and armor bonuses so why leave yourself short saying "its only for speech bro"
New Vegas arguably the best story of the main line games, but its a buggy unplayable mess without unofficial patches and qol mods... FO4 still a buggy mess in need of unofficial patches and qol mods, but to a lesser degree, it has a bit of a weaker story, but the gameplayloop is so much better i have a few hundred hrs in NV but have 1400+ hrs in FO4, this is just my opinion... NV better story, FO4 more fun to play
To be fair, autosaves cause problems in bethesda games. Skyrim had a bug where every save would increase the file size to the point that the game would turn into a slideshow and then crash. Permanently breaking that save.
@@ichigokage I can understand me but what the hell did OP do? Realised he doesn't like the VOD? The boot can't taste that good for you to lick it like that
Everyone likes praising new vegas for being done so quickly but it had a lot of assets to work with, some picture frames show the dad from fallout 3 lol. Its impressive nonetheless but yall need to stop pretending it was made from scratch by god like entities.
Yeah, but the people is praising it not for the engine (its terrible) but for the story and the roleplay element. Some of the assets have been added or changed, specifically the traits and new weapons, not everything is imported from fallout 3. Compared to Fallout 4, it had more weapon choices, and actually has a difference in gameplay. The map is considered well made and the starting story/quest is decent, due to how its designed, as you are guided to in how to progress the game without being blocked and forced into specific situations quests and story lines, like the other 3D Fallout game. It had considerably more freedom too, it gives you the choice of joining 3 factions (Legion, House, and NCR) or none at all (Yes man/Yourself), and it doesn't just portray a faction is evil by saying its evil. it explains their beliefs, goals, culture, and way of thinking not just a one sided "oh they are evil" or "Oh we are evil". The dialogue is decently written, and gives you many options, and most of dialogue gives expositions and insight to the world and lore of the game. The companions are decent and likeable, they have decent quest line and character arcs. The cons of the game mainly consist of bugs, old game engine, various cut content, lack of content in every other faction besides NCR, hard learning curve for new players unfamiliar with Fallout, some of the DLCs need improving (each of them have diffrent things to improve) especially Dead Money, etc. for a game with 18 months to be developed, its quite an excellent game compared to Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. Granted that Fallout 3 is where the most of the assets where made and that Fallout 4 is where the game reworked the Engine. But those two games had years of development time compared to New Vegas, not only that, but Fallout 3 was using the same engine that TES: Oblivion was using, and Fallout 4 has considerably more generic and repetitive quests despite having more time. I can see why they praise New Vegas, considering the time constraints that was put, alot of New Vegas fans hold resentment towards Bethesda due to not giving the devs additional time when they asked, because there is alot of cut content that was leaked, however some of which where cut not due to time constraints but due to gameplay and engine limitations. TLDR; There is alot to be praised, considering New Vegas time constraints. Its not like its a mod where it took 7ish years of development time and had a mess of a story (Frontier mod).
@@mrduck1490 No, in the video they were just starting the game and the commenter was bragging about how it only took 9 months to develop, they haven't even started wny of the twists and bulk of the story and they were bragging about the product and it's development time. If Interplay really had made the entirety of New Vegas we know from scratch, it would have taken an obscene amount of time considering how bad the engine and graphics were for fo1 and 2. Let's not pretend they would have created FoNV without Bethesda shouldering all the gruntwork of a better and more accessible engine, regardless of how bad it is in hindsight.
People praise it for being so good in spite of the conditions forced upon them by Bethesda. Obsidian wanted to make improvements to the engine and other things but of course Bethesda denied them. The fact we got what we got was nothing short of a miracle.
@@ichigokage Bro bethesda saved fallout, they owned fallout then and they own it now, they didn't owe the original developers anything, the miracle is they let them use their engine at all and even gave them access to their 3d assets. Did they developed the best fallout game till day yes, but could they have done it without Bethesda no. I'd be willing to bet most New Vegas developers were grateful they got to work on a last fallout game, much more grateful and less entitled than most of the fans.
@@UncleForHire and I did not say anything that you’re pointing out. Obsidian did the best they could with what Bethesda gave them and they delivered. But Obsidian wanted to make improvements upon that ancient engine but Bethesda refused. That engine needs to be put down.

Man I really hope she gets Raul as a companion!
its rly interesting to see vtubers and anime fans give a fallout game a try after being used to them only playing skyrim and only just "knowing of" fallout 4

The Doc also says different things depending on how high your intelligence is. If it is 10 he suggests the bullet did some good to your head. If it's at 1 he says maybe he didn't get all of the bullet out
It's based on any stat being at an extreme, not just intelligence

Ah yes, Big iron(mouse)!
I love the first 5 models the most. But her second one will always be the one that I associate as Ironmouse the most.
Watching her waste every magazine just stabbed me a bit.
if this game was made today, there would be a scar on the characters head from where they got shot
So.... wen we getting Mojave wasteland mouse?
oh hell yea, she played New Vegas!
Agility is nice for Vats and speed, but the best way to play the game is with x2 speed using console commands.
or do endurance and just get all the others buffed through mods to be super high so you have high across the board apart from charisma

fallout new vegas is the best "modern" fallout game, by far, the dialogues, the writting, the themes, the intelligence of characters, their goals, the total grey area, Ulysse and graham in both their respective dlcs are probably the best deutagonists/antagonists.
On one hand I'm sooo glad she chose to play one of the best RPGs in gaming history over 4(no offense to 4 enjoyers I've been playing it a lot too) but on the other -Jimminy Christmas the amount of crashes! I played New Vegas on ps3 back in the day and I can't ever remember crashing. Is this normal for the vanilla pc port??? I'm astonished by her patience here. I just hope she likes the game.
The pc port is pretty bad and it's made worse with newer systems. Mods will mostly fix the crashing issue.

I remember having a lot of fun with a low charisma, high luck character build.

Crashes are pretty normal in this and fallout 4. Thankfully, the crashes are not a huge deal since the games save constantly so you lose no progress.

"Is [game that is arguably the pinnacle of action-RPG] as good as [show with the writing level of the worst marvel movies]?"
Chat hates you for telling you to loser luck
I follow badgers Lord Death of Murder Mountain for this game.
It's one of the better games in the series . made in 18 months and it felt closer to the first 2 games. play new Vegas with one intelligence its awesome
Had no idea Mouse's first New Vegas stream was such a total trainwreck lmao
I feel bad for her, but at the same time she severely underestimated why there's a specific modlist that everyone recommends to follow
In case you want to know why it's such a mess,
1) She didn't follow Viva New Vegas which meant her load order and choice for patches is likely wack.
Lmao charisma is literally useless and the worst stat in the game
Eh, there's not much you can do to help her if she makes fun of you for pointing it out
@@kilroy6806 A ruthless tyrant she is
Saves having to put skill points in barter and speech early on, and makes companions very usedful. Plus from a roleplaying perspective there's nothing wrong with making a charisma build. It might not be the meta but if you're just playing the game to enjoy it then that really should not matter.
Maybe to you. Charisma is really useful for how I like to play.
actually no you are wrong--charisma is more then just speech--if you ahve commpanions it gives tgem more damage and for the end game you need at least a 8,you can basically get all your stats up to near 10 with implants and armor bonuses so why leave yourself short saying "its only for speech bro"

God I hate Twitch chat sometimes lmao. Oh the game is frequently crashing? Turn off autosave to maximise progression losses!
To be fair, autosaves cause problems in bethesda games. Skyrim had a bug where every save would increase the file size to the point that the game would turn into a slideshow and then crash. Permanently breaking that save.
