Is intelligence the key to being successful in the NBA?
The Herd with Colin Cowherd intelligence is why Celtics are doing so well. Brad Stevens is a genius. And not to mention Jayson Tatum is so good
i doubt that westbrook and john wall lack intelligence. selflessness and willingness to sacrificing your own goals for your team's success are more important factors. kyrie in boston, rodman in chi, bosh in mia,...
Smart Question.....im probably too dumb too answer that.....🤪🤪😂😂😂
You're right, but I think you need to put more focus on the coach and not the player when it comes to intelligence. Good coaches like Pop, Brad Stevens and Phil put their players in positions to succeed. Westbrook and John Wall have never had a smart great coach that could teach them the details of the game.
2012 playoffs Westbrook had the highest scoring performance of Finals in game 5 with 43 points
Four ingredients:
1. Klay Thompson
2. Steph Curry
3. KD
4. Draymond Green

Chris Carr since coming over to Fox he has become very biased. Even at ESPN he use to say a lot of stuff but now he makes himself like really dumb
1- Darnold at No 1
2- Mock drafts
3 -Baby dinosaurs
4- Watching NBA for 40 years
Colin changes per episode lol!!!, he was high on the 76ers and triple doubles only matter when bron does them 😂😂😂
Dawee Jameel part of his job
Andrew Voss no its not. He was hating on WB than when lbj averaged triple doubled in the final for 5 freaking games that was his get out of jail card(nick Wright used the same excuse). You can't say triple doubles don't matter than when you guys looses in the final averaging a triple double than they matter more than anything else
He uses I been watching BB for 40 years and uses divorce examples anytime he can yet his knowledge is very childish or is fix sports trying to turn into fix news of hot takes
Dawee Jameel that's Colin for up. He was so high on 76ers and the process now he off the bandwagon
Tu mama
Dilwale cricket well said brother
Four ingredients
1. Lightskin

Zap224 Lightskin built by chocolate milk is maybe the greatest thing I’ve ever heard
😂😂😂
Chocolate milk W
HOOHOO I don't get it
How did I know he would still somehow find a way to bash Westbrook😂😂
When I saw the "5 unnecessary ingredients" I immediately thought this was a shot at Westbrook
I Write A Song A Day Well your not wrong
I Write A Song A Day me too lol that’s funny bro
"They will never rule the earth, they'll get beaten down by the LeBron asteroid" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
cainhoy7 prolly not
😂😂
1. 3 or More Allstars
2. Paying the luxury tax
3. MVP
4. If none of the above tank.
I can't take this guy seriously him and Max Kellerman change their opinions every single day. Last week he was saying the NBA doesn't "need" lebron anymore and Simmons is the new face of the league but today "the process" is not to be trusted
# 1 have Sean lee
1. League help
2. Steph Curry
3. Health
4. Zen Master
FOT2010 perfect
1)a great playmaker
2)a great scorer
3)a great defender
4)intelligence
5)a great coach
6) combo of experience players and youth.
Depth doesn’t matter? Tell that to the 2015 Warriors, 2014 Spurs, 2011 Mavs, 08 Celtics
1. Good starters
2. Good bench
3. good coach
4. discipline.
They went to Duke for a year. When are we going to stop calling anyone who went to Stanford, Harvard and Duke automatically smart just because they attended a school? Doesn’t seem like too deep of analysis.
Anyone who goes to Duke to play basketball or Stanford to play football is not academically qualified to attend those schools.
The Shadow nah for Stanford you have to be able to get into the school regardless to play sports but being an all state basketball player definitely helps your chances
We live in a day and age where there is more knowledge af the palm of your hand than in every library in the world combined
Tyler Clayton that's true but kyrie and Tatum did play under one of the smartest coaches ever in coach k, my guess would be they probably picked up some stuff
The Shadow not true you dumbfuck, those schools have minimum test scores of SAT's that you need to achieve, they're low but you need to be able to at least read/write/count, most other schools don't have them at all. this is why you're an ignorant dumbfuck on here spewing nonsense.
Please listen to Colin for entertainment purposes only and not for any real basketball analysis
1. Stephen Curry
2. Threezus
3. The Baby Face Assassin
4. Chef Curry
5. The Human Torch
So he says don't have a dynamic point guard that can't shoot but his first segment of the day was praising a dynamic point guard that can't shoot (Ben Simmons)
Joe Beckman but Colin isn’t saying Simmons will win a title this season.
Creek Entertainment he’s not talking about this season. He’s talking about in general.
He considers Simmons an exception since he's 6'10
And he's said that's why they won't win a title UNTIL he learns to shoot.
the last dynasty besides gsw was the spurs
cant be a dynasty when you never won back to back titles
Tgaud82 arbitrary rule
Tgaud82 so gsw isnt a dynasty?
Tgaud82 nah, Spurs definitely dynasty in my book.
Brad Stevens hasn't even won a chip yet... chill
erichuffman2 tu mama
From the last of my knowledge, D. Rose was doing great in the playoffs before he got injured. 😢
Watching this in 2019 and the Bucks check all four essential qualities to succeed in the playoffs by your standards. Yet you still write them off as a regular season team.
1. Brad Stevens type head coach
2. Defense
3. Depth
4. Superstars
5. Luck/Health
He makes the good points which are right elements
Really good segment!
The main ingredients are
1. Experience and Knowledge
2. A top 5 defense
3. A consistent bench
4. A good Coach
5 .A Point Guard who can shoot
6. More than one playmaker
7. A disciplined team
Unless you play in the East, then it doesn’t matter.
dynamic PG who cant shoot. Talking about magic Johnson ?
magic learned to shoot a little eventually i think????
runzerblade rondo too
Tgaud82 well he shot better late in his career. As a PG who can’t shoot, he did win 2 finals mvps. That’s Collin so called “does not matter in the playoffs.” Btw he did mentioned AGAIN his 40 years nba watching experience.
runzerblade he could post up
RIP westbrook *AGAIN*
1. The Beard
2-4. The 3 Refs
First time I've ever seen Colin give credit to Kobe in anything..... EVER!!!! WOW
Willing owner who impowers staff
Good gm who can pick talent, has synergy with owner and coach and manages contracts
A coach who can manage egos knows x and os and creates winning culture
Superstar players
1. Curry
2. KD
3. Klay
4. Kerr
Number 5...a bench/role player that can give you buckets when you needs them. Think Patty Mills a few years ago. Battier the year before that. Remember Trevor Ariza on the 09 Lakers, James Posey on the 08 Celtics. Early 90s John Paxson. Every champ has one of these guys.
Four ingredients:
1. a signed toaster
2. chocolate milk
3. scaffolding knowledge
4.other scrubs to fill out the roster
Its not an episode of the Herd without saying "I've been watching basketball for 40 years"
1 strong character
2 intelligence
3 coach-priest, instills the above to players
4 soldiers and killers
5 running
Can't miss that daily shade thrown at WB
Sometimes teams have all these and lose and it sucks i.e. kings 2001-2004
The heat were a great team those four years, but I would argue and say the 07-08 Celtics were the smartest team. You had Ray Allen, arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history and a flat out scorer in his own regard, join forces with Paul Pierce who is also a great scorer. Then they brought in Garnett later that offseason, one of the most hard working, unselfish players who ever played and formed a formidable Big Three. Put them with an up and coming point guard in Rondo and Perkins who was a solid rebounder and defensive presence and you had a championship contender for years to come. These wee three superstars slightly passed their prime and Paul Pierce looked completely rejuvenated with this team. They would’ve won more, but teams were forced up take drastic measures and form these super teams we’re seeing today. Kobe told management he’s out unless they get him some help and the made the trade for Gasol even though he wasn’t even in the trading block. Couple years later Lebron leaves to join Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade and the rest is history. The 08 Celtics started this super team movement. There’s been big 3’s in the past, but the Celtics put in the league’s mind that this is a force to be reckoned with. And to get them to buy into the team mentality and set ego aside was brilliant in Coach Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge as the General mansger
4 points would be
System like warriors
Defense like 04 pistons
Paint domination like 08 celtics
Unstoppable player like kobe who breaks up defense.
Colin, Colin. How do you go from picking the pacers and raptors over the cavs to the cavs/Lebron r just bad in January but great in the playoffs😒
Check your stat people, Russell Westbrook shot 45% in the regular season. Playoff field goal percentage was around his career average and they went to the finals once, and almost a second of KD didn’t choke. (Terrible game 6)
I got 58 seconds in and I looked at the chart, they all point to the Thunder lol. He spends his nights in his bed thinking about Russell Westbrook. Never change Cowherd.
Hey guys I made a video on why the Celtics will be contenders for a decade and it'd be awesome if any of you guys checked it out: ua-cam.com/video/ZInCV_pbvlg/v-deo.html if you do watch it I hope you enjoy and I appreciate any support I can get!

“In da reguder season.”
~ Colin Cowherd
Kevin Durant had one ingredient: join an established championship winning team with 3 other All Star players.
4 ingredients for a NBA title: 4 superstars who can beat every other team in the NBA.
I agree with him. But the last dynasty before the warriors aint the laakers. It was the heat.
4 ingredients
1.Thick
2. Trunky
3. Costal
4. Kid
You just need 4 superstars.
4 ingredients:
Thicc
Trunky
Coastal kid
Blue collar
notice how he says westbrook lost 10-11 and utah dominated and triple doubles and westbrook is never efficient, but says wall and rose with no criticism, must hate in any way possible
“Nicknames don’t win championships” oooh right forgot the Splash Brothers didn’t exist Colin thanks for the reminder!
Number 5 on unnecessary was literally to attack Westbrook for no reason
Remember when Colin thought the W's 'game' was "boring"?!?!
I agree! It should be like formula 1 team for an nba team to get a title!
So he just gonna leave out defense??
I THINK YOU NEED TO DEFINE ...INTELLIGENCE..
When I want to know about winning nba titles.....I listen to Colin COWherd
four ingredients for this show:
1) thick
2)trunky
3)divorce analogies
4)Silicon Valley
bonus one:
1) no Kristine!
2) no Rob Parker!
3) MORE OF CHRIS "THE GOAT" BROUSARD.
Did I hear joy Taylor at the end 👂
Yes, Kristine left the show to start her own with Fox Sports. :'(
Aaron Schmidlkofer why would you be sad about that😂
Colin is right again
Depth doesn’t matter in the playoffs?
Celtics Anyone
Defense too!!!!
4 Ingredients
1.Refs
2.Payoffs
3.Ratings
4.Bullshit Narratives
the baby dinosaurs they are adorable and should never whut colin? LMAO
No .. The dynasty right before the Warriors was the Big-3 Miami Heat (LeBron , Wade , Bosh)
So glad Toronto is Canada’s team
You might as well just said: The sixers cuz all of that is them... “the process”, and it’s red white and blue.
Are they steve kerr??
You forgot defence Collin
I agree with Colin. Looking at Raptors and Sixers teams and the common denominator of their failures is the lack of intelligence. And probably a super star PG
Just because someone played for a good academic school doesn't mean they're smart. Guys who commit to Duke, Cal, etc. have nothing to do with the academics of the school. They just play for the team there.
Why does it seem like he talks about Westbrook every show?
So Tyronn Lue is a great coach?
True
So basically you’re saying Westbrook sucks and although “great coaches” make a difference Lebron is doing ty Lues work lol
five unnecessary ingredients 😂😂😂 the shade thrown
Depth?... Are you insane depth is literally the reason why the '80s Lakers & Celtics, '10s Warriors '60s Celtics '00s Spurs mutli champions... Colin you're a casual NBA fan.
Forgot to mention the '00s Shaq & Kobe Lakers.
WM13EDIT Official I think you’re missing the point. I don’t think he meant depth is a bad thing, or isn’t a valuable thing, but having the stars is more important. I would take a team with a superstar and less depth, rather than a team with a lot of depth, but no superstar. For the most part, it’s the stars that win the championships
For example, this year’s Celtics is deeper than this year’s Cavs, but the Cavs are probably going to win the series, because they have LeBron James
Jonathan A and bc they don't have their leading scorer and arguably the most clutch player in the league. But I understand where you're coming from
Jonathan A and he literally said the historically doesn't matter in the playoffs that's incredibly false. GSW, '80s Celtics & Lakers are literally a dynasties bc of their
Depth
2008 Celtics. Rondo can't shoot. You don't always need a shooting PG. you just need shooters.
After comparing derozan to Jordan he has no credibility anymore
Ben Simmons is a dynamic point guard that can’t shoot...
No Christine, not watching Heard again!
"Here's Joy Taylor with the news". The end of an era. I already miss Kristine. Sure, her opinion on LeBron was dumb, but I always thought she was really funny, she brought such a positive attitude to the show, and she did her homework. I know she gets a lot of hate, but I think was a great part of this show, and Colin is going to miss her energy a ton.
Aaron Schmidlkofer for sure
Kristine really made a fake account on UA-cam to complement herself 🙄
I can assure you this is a real account. I've had this account for like 7 years
And she had great eyes... we were all thinking it
Aaron Schmidlkofer stfup
Ty Lue is not a great coach, still, he has a ring and Brad Stevens doesn't yet.All other items are actually good
Requulair season
I never seen someone jump on and off a player in my life... i e Ben Simmons.... Collins this is sad
He says the last dynasty before the Warriors was Kobe and Shaq? I'm a diehard Warriors fan but they've made 3 straight finals winning 2, Lebron's Heat made 4 straight finals winning 2. Wouldn't you also have to consider them a dynasty?
When he says Dynasty, he is talking team and not player, i do think
San Antonio Spurs?
Rodrigo Abinader they were consistently great but I think dynasty here means consecutive finals and consecutive championships
NBA regular season is completely irrelevant. It's more like a pre-season. The Playoffs are like the Real Season. They need to shorten the regular season, make Christman opening day.
And that’s why coaches like thibs in Minnesota needs to be fired ASAP or they will continue not winning with a roster that could win a championship.
So you're trying to tell me that Ty Lue is a great coach? Stop it.
Also, hasn't it been over a week since westbrook was dropped out of the playoffs? Leave this man alone already lol.
Did he really try to say flat earth Kyrie is smart
Dinosaurs DID rule the earth at some point, Colin.
STOP BRINGING UP DERRICK ROSE! WE ONLY GOT GOOD YEAR OF HIM.
D rose could
