- The room is dark, riddled with strobe lights and a cacophony of gunfire. A "soldier" bleeds profusely from multiple gunshot wounds and missing limbs. Your job? To save his life fast. This is just a slice of the pre-deployment training that our soldiers undergo before they are deployed to Afghanistan.
Catch Mano as he goes solo in Afghanistan to film this six-part series on SAF operations there.

wow, i salute all these valiant and courageous SAF soldiers who are willing to risk limb and life to contribute against the fight against terrorism. i may only be a nsmen but i always salute and look up to these regulars who are committed and professional...
Holy crap... medical situation training in total darkness... no lights so as not to alert enemy... props to them!
Yup, The Desert Camo No.4 is just too AWESOME!!
Great Job and well done. You guy make us proud and bravo to all involved this operation.
that uniform is solid la !
this is a vlog of our army
Like!
you find it fun in the video.
in reality is hell.
@button123 in Singapore, the minimum requirement to be an 2nd Lieutenant to Lieutenant is a Diploma/A-Levels. A Captain requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Bear in mind the field officer ranks are regular ranks. The SAF of today isnt the SAF of the past where mere O-Level holders could become officers.
wohoo. nice uniform colour!!! :) like the US Army Uniform
apparently that all-important training in singapore prior to deployment has now been scrapped.. onsite training in afghanistan to take place instead
I saw them at nee soon camp and lo and behold.. they are in this video lol
@button123 True that most soldiers that serve in the army have a low education. However there are other reasons other then income. For me i would like to go to Afghanistan to learn about the people in Afghanistan.
可以命令士兵的行動,但不能命令士兵的忠誠。
Holy Mama! so.... Did the Robot thingy who lost his legs survive?
Which vocations do they normally deploy there?
hahaha i wanted to post " 2wo dennis @ 0:32 " but i guess someone beat me to it. hello fellow commando! :)
Which Units get to be deployed there?
Sefs .
is this some sort of virtual simulation battlefield 4 (new release)?
2:22 D: the recoil so much?
Major Terence.. my ex OC..
whats the requirement to get deploy there?
Nice video... just that a bit too short....it should be like a full 45mins documentary there are so much to show...
Seems like you didn't know that our troops were caught in a crossfire before. None surrendered, none fled, all survive.
Are there any videos or articles a proof of this?
Just some feel good, patriotic BS..... the afghan fighter is a combat veteran... not some pencil pushing conscript
nsf cant go right?
@button123 Wow tell that to the JC and Poly ppl who can go OCS and the masters or degree holder in combat engineering, areospace technology who are the Chief of Army,Staff, Guards so on and so forth
Tentera Darat Singapura..YANG PERTAMA DAN UTAMA..Singapore Armed Force..FIRST AND FOREMOST..MAJULAH SINGAPURA ONWARDS SINGAPORE: D
pes c will get deployed there not? i hope to go sia
Why our soldiers are using M16 when training and not SAR21 (The first few secs of this video)?
@button123 thats not true!
Virtual? Is this a video game to you? And plus, BF4 haven't release yet.
@darkjioz erm in war do you care about good english or bad at least they are brave enough to go to Afghanistan leaving their familes behind and fight and which day might be their last.
@button123 I am not saying that u are lying. All soldiers are trained to shoot regardless of their status NSF, NS Man or Regular. I am not a keyboard warrior. A keyboard warrior are the ones who gave stupid comments about something that they don't know shit of. I support the SAF overseas missions to make a difference, to make the world a better place. I am also a NS Man.
he keeps saying and er
@zombie766 Dummy?! Don't remember using dummy rifle in my days.... why not a dummy SAR21 then? Anyway, thanks for calling me little boy. I completed my NS more than 20years ago. For my age, i guess it's better to find out more adv info and tech the SAF using nowaday. :)
@button123 Then explain this, why u think that soldiers are lowly educated ones? U haven't explained that. I know some of some them who have diploma, advanced diploma and degree. My cousin who holds the rank of Major has a degree. Is he considered to be lowly educated too? If u think all soldiers are lowly educated, then there must be something wrong in the SAF organisation structure and chain of command. I find your views on lowly educated to be short sighted and close minded.
@button123 So? If u really serve as a combatant during your active days, then u should know that the soldiers come from all walks of life. If u say only the lowly educated join the army, I assume u are also lowly educated?
@brandynoob They play too much Battlefield and Call Of Duty video games.
@bOycHiLL87 Don't think you should jump to conclusions. Not wanting to deploy to frontline is not the same as cannot survive at the frontlines. Would you really like the SAF to deploy to the frontline and have some come back in body bags just so Singaporeans can brag about it? What's the point?
@fah85 hello hello..pls dun make yourself look like a fool. i served as a combatant during my active days in an infantry unit and i just completed my battalion live firing in my 4th cycle :)
wtf SAF english a bit chui for those lao jiao old bird when u r in the theatre u need to have the alert frame of mind y cant he say vigilance
thats stupid. in war, your enemies aint gonna shoot you with exam questions. its the skills matters, not your cert. you can become a high achiever but you got no skills what for right? just my two cents. tell me what you think. peace!
It's not that .owly educated people join up, its just that they want to serve their country, for instance USMC has majorities young kids who serve before college... And most been to violent environments such as fallaujah and korengal... What kinda stupid theory is that? Lowly educated my ass...
the english sounded so bad.
why are we sending uneducated soldiers there?
@fah85 while i respect your opinion..you have not successfully debunk my argument that soldiers are usually the lowly educated ones and therefore deem my statement as coming from someone who dont know shit..this doesnt just happen in singapore..take a look at US/UK/France. how many smart ones join the force? i figure that our engagement is a waste of time which serves no purpose and cannot come to any conclusion and therefore i do not wish to continue this any further.
singapore soldiers kena scolded at 3:35 ? what a disgraced as usual. haha!
