Who else loves their lightbar's behind the grill?
Did you attach your grounding wire to the negative terminal or somewhere else?
Just a heads up for anyone else that is going to do this with the same truck......make sure the the bar you buy has the mounting brackets towards the back of the bar like the one in the video. I just installed mine and the brackets were in the center of the bar, so they didn't sit on the hard plastic like this one. I had to do some modifications and make a new bracket. It still worked but it was quite a bit more work. Thanks again for the video
Thanks for this! A good note for everyone watching.
Thanks for the idea! Ive been wanting to get a light bar but hate the roof look. I have some fins behind the grill, which I might have to remove to fit a 2 row light bar. I’ll see if I can mount a curved 40” light bar in there. I also have the Upfitter switches and plan to just wire it directly to one of them and grounding it on the body.
Going to try to install mine this weekend! 🤞 thx for the video!
Nice job
2018 custom came with AGS but a slim bar fits well.
Nice video. There is another way to fish the wire through - the rubber nipple - on the same wiring harness. It's a tight fit but you can thread steel wire from under the hood into the engine compartment and then fish from the cab to the engine compartment. Much cleaner and safer in my opinion. It is a tight squeeze under that dash!
Where is this located? I can’t seem to place it.
Thanks for the vid, how do you like the light bar power? Does the install behind the grill take away too much of the light? Tks.
🔥🔥
Thank you!
Do you not have to legally wire it into your high beam circuit also. Or can you turn in and off manually
Nice. You said the light bar moves a little. Do you see any movement in your light beam when you hit bumps etc?
👍👍❗
Hey man, thanks for the video. I'm doing the exact same thing with my '21 silverado. Did you have any issues with battery drainage where you wired direct to the battery? I think I'll tie in through the driving lights fuse to ensure it's only powered whe the key is on. Thanks again
Hey no issues whatsoever! Battery has been going strong, even with some -40 degree weather this winter!
Great video with detailed explanations and instructions. Thank you, for sharing. What is the manufacturers’ name and model of the light bar you used? It would have been helpful to list the information with the other links that you provided.
Hey Pat, I left the link in the description for the product, but here is the link for it, it will give you all the information you need! amzn.to/3HvGoPc
I like the hidden light bar, but I was thinking something different. I had an idea about putting some yellow LEDs behind the the letters that spell out Chevrolet behind the grill so at night time Chevrolet would stand out with the yellow lighting...... just a thought
I want to do this with mine but with white lights, what kind of lights should I use? I’m new to this
I did this with RGB LED strips. I love it! Blocked out the back so there’s no light bleeding out into the entire grill area
Did you drill a hole on the actual light bar as well? I see where the bracket is suppose to go but I see yours is behind it.
No need to drill into the lightbar itself! Where the bracket mounted onto the lightbar was factory. Hope that helps!
Wicked video man! It looks like you pulled the active fins out. How did you do that?
Since this is a Custom trim it doesn't have the fins inside the grill, so I didn't have to deal with them
@@DIYAndrewFlockhart whoa! My 2022 is a custom and I have the fins!😱😱😱
@@DIYAndrewFlockhartSo I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to pull the necessary fins out? My custom has the fins
Can’t you just run this thru your bright relay or even your low beam relay?
Your truck didn't come with grill shutters or did you take them off
Not sure if its a "Custom" Trim package thing, or if it's because it's a 2019, but the truck never came with them.
was that light 30" and 32" with brackets... I want to do this but am finding both size bars please let me know
thanks
He said 32
Most light bars are 30 in and they account for the brackets adding an extra inch to each side
The lightbar is advertised as a curved 32in and there's a link in the description if you're looking for more details on it.
Zap strap? Is that anything like a zip tie? 😂
Hey Genius, the Big Rubber plug you ran your wires through has a Nipple you cut to run the wires through from the factory, just a little silicone over the hole and you're good. Pinching the wires when replacing the Rubber Boot is not good, it will cause a short, maybe even a fire.
Where is the nipple?
Why didn't you hook it up to your fog lightz
I would love to but unfortunately this model doesn’t have fog lights… need to get some…
This will not work with turbo Silverado
What’s different between the V8 and the 2.7 as far as mounting goes?
@@moderndayoverlandYea i have the 2.7 and want to do this so I’m curious
