For those who were interested in amount of editing i do on my film shots, here is a before and after : www.dropbox.com/s/n0knu6wprg1lek5/img312.jpg?dl=0
I think the biggest takeaway here and one that I imagine most people don't notice is that part of the formula that results in images like this is the fact that you are also a phenomenal makeup artist. You are getting images straight out of the camera that need almost no retouching because of how good of a job you did with the makeup. This is a talent that most photographers don't even consider developing and often depend on finding a high caliber MUA which can often be very difficult. Kudos.
Anita Sadowska it is so true. Irene’s work is so humbling. We could hand her a pinhole camera, and she would find a way to create beautiful art. And the fact that she shares her knowledge with us is so generous of her. A wonderful person and artist.
Besides your obvious knowledge of lighting and your creativity, what impresses me the most is your posing skills. I would never have thought that making your model "hunch" her shoulders or bend her back would work, but it really does, and it creates a sense of intimacy and delicateness. It's way, way better than the acrobatic poses we often see the models take. Great work ! Thank you so much for sharing !
Sims Eeye I thought these movements of the body were a natural thing to do. Myself like to take photos / images of people in their natural posture. I agree what we see models of today have to get their bodies positioned into these days looks down right excruciating, no wonder the models look plastic they are screaming from inside in pain. This model oozed beauty, natural beauty.
How lucky are you to have such a beautiful and patient model in your family and how lucky is she to have such a great photographer for a sister! Great video!
Beautiful work, Irene. I also love that you added the slides of both film and digital. It really made me appreciate the differences between both mediums. I can't say which ones I like best because the 5D mk3 seemed to capture more accurate colors, but the Mamiya film pictures are softer and more flattering to her skin. I also love this DIY lighting setup with the shed. This is definitely one of my favorite videos of yours because I love it when photographers DIY their own lighting setup versus throwing money on expensive studio equipment.
I just discovered this video today (8/19/20) from My Modern Met, from an email of a post of there's... and, I just wanted to say, how much I enjoyed watching, that you took the time to make this, and the fabulous images (and gentle post work) that you and your lovely sister created here! From someone who's never ever tried... glamour, or, fashion, or... and has had only the slightest interest... well, you've made me both want to try (do!), and demystified (some of) the difficulty of doing so. Your sister Orysia is SO PATIENT... so expressive, so generous... Thank you both for the inspiration. All the best to you both.
This was an *excellent* BTS! Thank you for sharing the experience and some of your results. Your sister did a fantastic job, and I'm amazed by how patient she was. Subjects who are really just "doing you a favor" rarely go for so long. The photos were truly gorgeous!
Fine art portraits from the shed! :D The vintage tones in your film shots are so gorgeous! But nothing can beat the dreamy look that only you can do with that 85mm on your 5D! Loved all of the images so much, the texture of the tulle frills you made were perfect.
Liesl Huddleston Actually the Mamiya shots are my favorite the realistic flesh tones over digital any day. This has inspired me to take up film as well
I confess I spent a lot of moment in this video looking at your short. BUT once again you did something very "artistic" and emotional. I love your touch Irene! I really do appreciate that you take time to compliment your model. She is your sister and you could forget and be more familiar, but your help her there and share your love for what you are doing together. (I hope it makes sense, sorry I am french).
Irene, I have been watching your videos like crazy! They are absolutely fantastic. I just started taking photographs these last few months and really love it. I’m an actress, but enjoy photography as a hobby! I was wondering, do you have a breakdown of your film camera/ equipment? The models and prices? I always end up loving the photographs you take on film!
Irene you are a real artist, so far I have watched a lot of your videos and each one is better than the previous one ! I love your simple way of shooting ,especially in this video ,so simple but still so beautiful ! I'm in favor of that way too
Oh My! What a great shoot! Thank you for sharing your gift. I love your excited sound affects when you see a gorgeous shot you captured. I could relate to and feel your excitement and it made me smile each time. Your sister is absolutely lovely. Thanks again for sharing.
I was interested in seeing the setup, but I was entirely unprepared for how incredibly beautiful these images were. Blown.Away. You eye is unbelievable. And your sister is deadly gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this.
Hello Irene. I was stuck at not knowing what concept I wanted to pull for my next 'photoshoot', and now you just gave me a bright idea! I'm an amateur photographer so I'm sure my pictures will not turn out as great as yours, but I'll try my best. Thank you so much!
wow, pictures look like they are taken in big fancy studios....U inspire me to do more shoots because I am a student and can't afford to buy expensive things so thank you
Beautiful Images Irene and your talent is a proof to the fact that , to create great images you don't always need fancy equipment instead creative thinking is the key ingredient apart from skills. Thanks for sharing . I loved it
Wow! Irene, you are so creative and I find your videos to be inspiring. This video just goes to show you don' t need much to get great photos, you just have to use your imagination. Great work!
I third that! Yes Please!!! This was just amazing to watch you work so creatively in getting the shots. Your sister is absolutely stunning! I would love to see the post process as well!
Wow. What a truly inspirational video. For those of us who look round our houses and wish we had more room or even a studio, you go and prove you need none of these things. A dingy shed, a reflector and your camera. The posing and the props are awesome. Your sister is beautiful and is obviously a very patient and willing model. As I started my interest in photography well before digital was even thought of ( Mamiya RB 67 and fuji velvia ) the comparison shots between film and digital was interesting to see. Great video, you are a very talented photographer. Thank you for sharing!
She was the perfect model for this! I loved the film shots! Looked really beautiful and vintage. I remember I did a photoshoot with my friend in a barn just like this once! So much fun :)
I was expecting your sister to be a model, but when you said go to check her work and sow all that beautiful art I was very surprised. Both of you have an amazing talent.👏😊
I like the more muted tones of the film shots. And amazing how good you managed to shoot with film when you have only 16 shots per roll with a 6x4.5 (if I'm not mistaken). That said, the digital shots are equally good (even though I do prefer the more muted tones ;-)). Very enlightening how simple a lighting setup can be!
Great pictures! And thanks for reminding us all how easy it is to create great lighting situations! Your sis has beautiful eyes and she's very patient 😊!!!
I really enjoyed that you understood why the lighting worked so well in your shed and explained it, instead of just going with "natural lighting is better"
Achingly beautiful. And the way that film camera renders colour, so soft and so delicate. Amazing Irene, my new favourite of your work! Your sister is an incredible model as well, she makes it look so effortless. Teamwork perfection in a backyard shed.
Such a good shoot, huge kudos, beautiful sister really gives a classical pose and look from many moons back. You are just knocking out photo after photo :)
Very clever setup! You definitely understand how to handle light! Just an idea: You could use the inside of the barndoors as reflectors by making them silver or white. By changing the angle of the doors you could activate, deactivate or modulate the effect any time! Nice work!!!

Mamiya pics are just gorgeous! didn't expect, it would be so better than canon
Your film stills look phenomenal!
@@professionalamateur7900 Yo amo tomarme fotos de mis piernas
Wow! Proof that the photographer makes the photograph. I’m inspired. Thank you.
This is soooo beautiful!!! You are a living proof that your talent and skills will always beat fancy setup and unnecessary amounts of gear! 🔥🌸
ahh thank you so much Anita! I miss you!
@@IreneRudnyk see you in few weeks 😏

Yass!
@tyvek05 The point is you don't need that. You can go simple and still do beautiful work.
Besides your obvious knowledge of lighting and your creativity, what impresses me the most is your posing skills. WOW !
Your sister has that classic look. A beautiful model indeed.
How lucky are you to have such a beautiful and patient model in your family and how lucky is she to have such a great photographer for a sister! Great video!

girl u desrve milliions of subscribers!!!!!!!!! u deserve to be famouse because of ur talent and skills!!!!! freaking IDOL!!!!!!!
Beautiful, artistic portraiture. Thanks. And I got a kick at your sister’s sneakers under that elaborate dress.
I was looking for a studio for my shoot this weekend but I realized my backyard or literally anywhere can become a studio. Your talent amazes me!
It's great to see a channel post beautiful photographs instead of just average snapshots with everything centered at eye level.
This photoshoot is EVERYTHING! I'm totally in love with the colors and some kind of softness of this photos. And those eyes, OMG.
Insane! This has to be the prettiest photoshoot I have seen in a long time!
Beautiful work, Irene. I also love that you added the slides of both film and digital. It really made me appreciate the differences between both mediums. Probably best lesson ever about lightning!!! Absolutely masterpiece!

Orysia has a very unique look which works well for these beautiful portraits.Well done both digital and film.!

I love your reaction when you you get that perfect look your about to capture. Your sister is a great subject. So dramatic.
This is one of the things I love about photography. All it takes is a simple set up for amazing shots.
Just love your sister's eyes
Easily my favorite BTS video and resulting images. Goes to show that a pile of gear is not always necessary to create amazing images. Well done!
Very beautiful. Love your gasps when the shot works for you. Brilliant. Love how the film slows you down too. Wonderful. 😊
And this is how I learn how to do cheap setups hahaha! It’s amazing with the things you can do for less.
This was an *excellent* BTS! Thank you for sharing the experience and some of your results. Your sister did a fantastic job, and I'm amazed by how patient she was. Subjects who are really just "doing you a favor" rarely go for so long. The photos were truly gorgeous!
Proof that just the right talents can create a beautiful image. Your sister is gorgeous, and I love your constant direction!!
Great shoot! Love the old style looking photos... Your sister was perfect for these shots. Well done
Definite proof that a fancy studio isn't required. Orysia looks great.
I am a subscriber and follow many of your posts. Thank you.
You have such amazing talent Irene. Love the creativity and just goes to show that you can come up with amazing photos regardless of the area

I found myself watching this again. you captured your sister beautifully. nothing else is sweeter.
so fortunate to have sister that will sit for you, and one that poses so well. beautiful photos
The photos are beautiful, but the real star of the video is your incredible passion for photography.
I confess I spent a lot of moment in this video looking at your short. BUT once again you did something very "artistic" and emotional. I love your touch Irene!

The thing about film is that it has a different look to it which changes the atmosphere of the photos. Finished it for ya! Beautiful photos!
Haha yes!
That Mamiya shutter sound!!! Eargasm!!!
Really loving how this set turned out. A bit of a vintage painterly feel, but the effect is so soft and beautiful
Amazing! It is all about lighting and background in the frame!

Magic, thank you. Love your work, two very talented ladies. The film portraits look amazing and your sister is really one good looking lady.

One of my favourite videos you have done. Your skill is inspiring and your sister is an amazing model
I really love this video, I think your sister is a very good model and you did a fantastic job with both film camera and digital, great work.

Such a good shoot, huge kudos, beautiful sister really gives a classical pose and look from many moons back. You are just knocking out photo after photo :)

VERY good work with modest resources. Inspiring. I prefer the digital outcome.
Oh my Irene, you are amazing. Love watching you work, kindred spirits my friend
This was just fabulous, your sister is a beauty and you are an artist.
Beautiful! Can you also do an editing video of pictures. Or before n after ?
Follow!
Yes
Amazing the beauty you created in a tool shed.
You did so much with so little! What a gorgeous shoot! Love it!
I absolutely love your reactions when you catch a good one ♥ also, I am amazed by how they turned out, they're breathtaking!!!
Gorgeous lighting and model. Love all the soft pinks.
