Yeah! The last step: the LEARN CODE it's key yo the success of this process! I just finished programming my wife's car also. It worked on the first time!! Thank you so, so much!!
I totally agree with Carole Briggs, no one else mentioned that third step. thank you, I can finally go to bed now after 45 minutes of fighting with this.
Thanks for the help! Your demo was great. I read the manual for the car and the door opener and neither make the process so easy. I watched your video and was done in a flash!
I love videos like this. Straight to the point demo. Alas, for some reason my homelink can't seem to pickup the garage remote opening code - it only slow blinks, I never get the fast blink.
gotta tell ya. i've programmed two priuses, an audi and today a cx9 and never, not once, have i had to deal with the learn button on the opener in our garage.
Nothing works on mine. Maybe the garage opener itself is too old? Resetting the code and trying the new one doesn't work, and there is no learn button.
Watch a dozen videos, thought I was looking my mind or my new used car was broken. Your video was the one that worked!! Thanks for the detailed accurate step by step.
OMG.....Thank you so much!! This video tutorial was spot-on it was so fast and easy for me to program my car to my garage!! I thought it would be alot harder!! Thank you😉
Dude... thank you, thank you, and thank you! Finally... a tutorial that explained all 3 steps! Everyone else gives you the first 2! I've been trying to get this to work for about a year! One additional note... is that on my 2015 Silverado... I had to point the remote opener towards the front of the Homelink panel. Simply pointing it at the Homelink panel from below wasn't enough to allow it to take the train. Thanks again!
+Gary Kocken, I had the same problem and left a similar comment today. I was puling my hair out and this was my last effort to try it one more time before giving up. It worked the very first time. :)
Thank you SO MUCH! Despite multiple attempts at programming, I had failed for over a YEAR to sync my car to my older Legacy garage door opener! Your video explained it so well. So glad I won't have to remember to constantly switch my garage door opener remote between cars any more!
Great video! Thank you! After I followed the instructions provided by Subaru for my Outback, not only did my Homelink not work, but none of my remotes or my keypad would work. I fixed the remotes and keypad, then used your video to correctly program my Homelink. Works Great! Thanks again!
Awesome. Thank you for demonstrating this. I actually had a customer that had trouble figuring out how to set hers up on her vehicle at home and this made it smooth and easy.
thanks a lot bro. I watched every Nissan Homelink video and was not able to get it. Your explanations are clear and concise. I was finally able to link my 350z remote to my garage. thanks a bunch
What a great tutorial. Thank you so much. I have been trying to program the home link on my new car for 2 days and with your video I did it on the 1st try!
Thanks Dude! I have a LM8500W, which has zero guidance in their documentation and nothing on their website on pairing a Home Link vehicle remote...after watching this video, boom, it works! You are the best! Thank you...
Good video. As a side note: I had a battery in my Chamberlain remote that was testing right at 3 volts. Apparently, that's not enough. I cleared the memory on the car's remote and tried to link it to the remote and nothing happened. I went through all the troubleshooting steps and still nothing. The remote would not work and the car's remote did nothing. Just by chance, I had another remote battery and it tested at 3.1 volts so I said what the heck I'll try it and sure enough I was able to complete all the steps and now both remotes work. So apparently, you can't program the car's remote unless the other remote is working if you clear out the car's memory.
Thank you!!! My owners manual was wrong, wrong, and frustratingly wrong. But, I found your channel your channel and it worked like a charm. I appreciate what you do. Subscribed!
For anyone who may be having issues syncing Homelink... If you are using key chain garage door opener ( 1 Large Button with 2 smaller buttons to the left), That ONLY works if you are using the smaller buttons to sync with Homelink. The large button does NOT work. Also, If you have a single button garage door opener, that works great. My garage door motor is a Genie, had this issue.
FINALLY, A VIDEO THATS SHORT, SWEET & TO THE DAGGONE POINT. I was having so much trouble syncing my hand held remote, the key pad, and home link so they'd all worked at the same time. Thanks for posting this video.
This happened to me and I'm sure if you have multiple remotes it can happen to you, Once you finally get your new vehicle programmed into your opener it magically eliminates an existing vehicle that was working prior to programming your new homelink vehicle. A lot of garage door openers only memorize a set amount of transmitters and once they are full and you add a new transmitter it will delete an existing one so the new one will work Just an FYI....it can be very frustration Good Luck!!!
Thanks very much for the quick and easy to follow instructions. Your instructions were much easier than even the Mazda book that came with this car. Thank you
This video was super helpful. I wasn’t able to figure it out from the owners manual, which seems to be missing that first step, but after this video, I was able to program it.
Been following the vehicle owners manual for about 2 months and could not get it to work! Finally got frustrated enough to find an answer. Your video was spot-on for my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe! Took me under 2 minutes to program and only one attempt! PERFECT & THANK YOU!
Thanks for that awesome, simple, clear video. I finally programmed my 2008 prius to work with the liftmaster garage door opener in my apt building. This simple event has simplified my life ten fold! Thanks a million
Okay my luck has turned! I just left a whiny complaining comment on another Kia Sportage video. I was complaining about my situation and not the guys video. All you guys who put these videos out I love you! Your video couple with my rearview mirror wanting to cooperate has enabled me to program my garage door opener in less than 5 minutes. I spent hours trying to accomplish something else earlier today. This video is fantastic and I appreciate you! Thank you so much.
Had my truck for 3 years and have had previous trucks with Homelink that I could program. Newest truck hasn’t worked, but I followed your video one last time and it worked! Thanks!
Thank you!!!! My 9 yr old grandson just used this today to program my new Mazda CX-5 . Kudos . The dealer said it was hard to do. Not so. Thanks again👍👍👍👍👍
Just want to say thank you. Same as everyone else, for years i only try the 1st step which is either train the remote from the car or the car to the garage door but NEVER know it needs to do both in order for it to work with the new garage door system. Thanks again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get it to work, until I saw STEP 3!!!! Watched the video, went out and did it, and it worked the first time! Can't Thank You enough!
Great, this directions actually worked. Follow the full 3 steps! Other directions seemed to indicate that you either do step 1 OR step 2. Not that if you have to do step 2 you also have to do step 1. Follow these directions if you have a rolling code garage opener (which most of the newer ones should be).
Thank you so much! 30 mins of trying other ideas/videos with no luck. Within 1 minute watching yours I got my Mazda synched with the garage door opener!
Tried 8-9 videos of setting up HomeLink in-vain before reaching this video and this finally synced my garage door to my Subaru HomeLink. Success just before I was about to give up. Thank you O'Sir
Thank You for keeping the video short. Other UA-cam videos are more than 6 minutes-lots of verbal filler! You understand the Tik Tok attention span. Your instructions worked perfectly for me. Kudos!
Omg this was so easy your instructions were so easy and me and my son got it on my first try!!!!! You would not believe how excited I am your wonderful!!!
10 years later and the official homelink steps are absolutely useless. Thank you.
Blows my mind how companies can’t write simple steps and procedures.
Yeah! The last step: the LEARN CODE it's key yo the success of this process! I just finished programming my wife's car also. It worked on the first time!! Thank you so, so much!!
Spot on! The other tutorials are obviously incomplete, give that I couldn't get them to work, but this one worked on the first try. Thank you!
I totally agree with Carole Briggs, no one else mentioned that third step. thank you, I can finally go to bed now after 45 minutes of fighting with this.

I love videos like this. Straight to the point demo. Alas, for some reason my homelink can't seem to pickup the garage remote opening code - it only slow blinks, I never get the fast blink.
Same any solutions?
Great Video!!! Worked just as directed! Turned an hour manual/video/frustration party into a simple one minute 3 step process. Keep up the good work!
11 years later and people are still benefitting. Thank you!
Watched a lot of other videos and this video is the most concise and explains each step. Good job!
Was too lazy pulling that manual out. This is quick and painless thanks
Worked perfect. Quick and easy! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I looked everywhere for instructions and yours were easy to understand and they WORKED.
so easy! Took me less than 5 mins! Great job!
Simple and straight forward, thank you!!
I must have seen at least 20 videos and none of them were as concise as yours. Even 12 years later, it helped me. Thank so you so much!
This is still a great tutorial for a 2023 Mazda CX-5.
Thank you, exactly what I needed to do for my Mazda 3 G-ST
Edit to add, Homelink with a Genie Garage door opener.
It would be the same process except you press the button 3 times to program the unit, message me about it
+josh gardner I had no problems once I saw your video. I added the extra for others who might be searching using keywords. Thanks again, Del
Yup. This is the 1, 2, 3 ya need. Thank you.
Worked as detailed. Thanks!!
Perfect!!!!! Worked well on GS350
Excellent! This worked PERFECTLY on my 2012 Kia Optima, which the manual did not say to do both programming steps. THANKS!!
Thank you, worked great.
Great video! Thanks for the information. It worked perfectly!
Worked like a dream.
Boom! 2000 Toyota Avalon now working!!! So easy, thank you! The owners manual was all wrong.
Thanks! super fast and easy!
Worked perfect. Thanks
great video and it definitely works!
really cool, good job!
This was perfect!! Thank you
Thank you! Was trying to read both car and garage door manuals and neither was helping!
Thank you.. I also have a 2013 Toyota Sienna and the manual missed the 3rd step !
Cool love these tutorial and I love you tube
Thanks for your help!
Excellent video buddy
worked perfect on my S80!
Does this cause any problems for a second vehicle that is already working with homelink?
What if you live in a condo and don’t have access to the learn button? TY Fred 😊
What if i don't have a remote. can this be done without a garage door remote?
This aren't the instructions in the owner's manual - that's a positive! These instructions work! Thanks!
I do not have the remote that goes with my garage door, is there a way to program my car buttons, without needing the remote?
Thank you so much
Thanks. Worked great.
Thanks dude.
What does the I button do abd the power button?
Worked. thanks
gotta tell ya. i've programmed two priuses, an audi and today a cx9 and never, not once, have i had to deal with the learn button on the opener in our garage.
Worked. 👍😀
Nothing works on mine. Maybe the garage opener itself is too old? Resetting the code and trying the new one doesn't work, and there is no learn button.
thanks!!!
Does anyone know what I do if I have lost my remote opener? I can’t seem to pair my Mazda opener button and my chamberlain garage opener.
Luckily I found my opener! Looking online looks like it can’t be done without the remote
Almost 11 years since you made this video and it's still helpful! Thanks!
Watch a dozen videos, thought I was looking my mind or my new used car was broken. Your video was the one that worked!! Thanks for the detailed accurate step by step.

Gary Kocken same for me. Infinti videos left off the details about the learn code!

Thanks, Very helpful. I have an older Genie garage opener and I didn't need to do the last step of pushing the "learn" button. It still worked great.
Thanks, I was finally able to get my 8yr old homelink set up...
Great video! Thank you! After I followed the instructions provided by Subaru for my Outback, not only did my Homelink not work, but none of my remotes or my keypad would work. I fixed the remotes and keypad, then used your video to correctly program my Homelink. Works Great! Thanks again!

Awesome tutorial! I was reading the car manual and it did not mention half of these steps thank you so much!
Great video with good instructions. Thanks for sharing!
Worked right away for me, thanks a bunch! I just had to call genie to figure out how to get into their learn option and the rest worked like a charm!
Thanks very much for the quick and easy to follow instructions. Your instructions were much easier than even the Mazda book that came with this car. Thank you
Awesome explanation!! With a few simple words you tackled an almost impossible task! Thanks a million!
This video was super helpful. I wasn’t able to figure it out from the owners manual, which seems to be missing that first step, but after this video, I was able to program it.

Thank You.Very helpfull video,I could not program with other instructions.Recommend, worked for kia sportage 2011.Thank You again
Perfect! The car’s instructions manual was missing the part about pressing the button on the indoor unit, exactly the step I was missing! Thanks!
Thank you so much! 30 mins of trying other ideas/videos with no luck. Within 1 minute watching yours I got my Mazda synched with the garage door opener!
wow, thank you soo much, worked 1st try. very well done video
Awesome tutorial. Finally got mine working.
Thanks so much for posting! Following the instructions in The manual on my 2019 Mazda didn’t work but your walk through did!
