Does Xotic make their own bodies and necks or assemble and finish generic parts or parts made just made for them? I’m very confused about exactly what they do because they don’t appear to be making anything themselves. As for their Plek machine, the nut on my XSC-1 was wrong out of the box and when they eventually responded, their advice was to use superglue and to buy a nut file!
I like the experiment body! And it’s been sitting there for a while!! Put a neck on it and send it right over. I’d love to have it. For the right price of course

My observations too. In my experience (I own a light aged XSC-1), Xotic are very good at marketing and advertising but build is fairly standard (mine had a wrongly cut nut from new) and support is just not there. Jack is very diplomatic. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Peach stopped stocking Xotic.
I was interested until I looked and saw they are one of those companies that charges hundreds of dollars more for a lefty. I'll keep with Tom Anderson and Suhr, they don't discriminate.
Discriminate lol. They’re a small operation and I’m sure it costs more to do a lefty. Why should they give you a discount and not give right handed players a discount?
They can "produce" this many guitars because their bodies and Neck are made by another company. So they basically do nothing but paint and assemble Strat and Tele guitars. This is also the reason they cannot offer much Custom options.
WTF - they are still a small business. Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug started out in a small shop at the beginning of Taylor Guitars. I have an Xotic XSC-2 and the quality and tone is as good as my Fender Custom Shop guitars. As another person commented though, they did not look like they were prepared for the tour or used to giving tours of the shop.
If you go on google maps and look at their factory on 14920 Calvert Street, you can see it’s a good sized building, not a porta cabin or mobile factory or whatever some commenters were hinting. Agree it wasn’t a professional tour - doesn’t seem like they’ve ever been asked for one before judging by UA-cam not having another uploaded. Maybe unfair to expect the level of tour you’d get from PRS or Anderson though given their scale. Small team of guys building guitars rather than mastering PR.
Has anyone ever seen a truly aged guitar that looks like the factory aged ones? hmmmm.... if so....1 in a million. So, why the hub-bub over relic'ing??? I'm getting a used LSL tomorrow...lightly aged which will look 'natural' and cause me to NOT worry about adding scratches and dents.....and the level of relic'ing didn't cost original owner/me a mint. Oh,...I miss Jack.

Whoa, that was a really crappy tour. Bunch of rambling, and meaningless words from the workers at Xotic; no substance. Damn, that was cringey and disappointing. In comparison, LSL has a much more interesting and satisfying tour.
Jack is ALIVE!
We'd hope so. But don't get too excited, this footage was filmed back in January!
Xotic are great guitars - perfect blend of vintage with modern appointments. Love them.
This was fun, I've been such a fan of my Xotic XTC!
Ordered a xotic xcs-1 a few weeks ago. I’m excited even though it will take 5-6months. 🎸🤘🏼
oh my goodness, that was awesome
So they buy already made body's and necks?
SVL guitars get their necks made in America!
@@ianthomas4568 who is SVL?

Are you presuming they just build overly priced kits?
@@kamarienedwards1757 Have you seen any evidence that Xotic carve their own bodies and necks from blanks?
to follow up on this, I emailed Xotic who told me that they do make their own bodies and necks.
Jack... Jack! Come back... come back..... I'll never let go. I promise.😢

Jack has a pretty good game face but the disappointment in what he saw is hard to hide. Honestly, those Xotic guys didn't seem prepared for a tour.

i have 3 of their guitars, love them, sound great, play great, look great...but that was weirdest "factory tour" ever.
Jack is back!!!
old vid??
I like the look of this factory? Don’t understand the negative comments! I have an Xsc2 that is basically all I play!
Partscasters getting assembled in a portable building, very boutique.
@@Echoes- nice glad you agree man

If "discrimination" was the reason, they wouldn't even make lefties 🤣
Yea I think we were better off not seeing the tour, takes away from the mystique of their guitars

Easily the worst guitar factory out there. Looks like a portacabin / slap up of rooms. No detail of process. No thanks.

Lots of regulation and red tape is socialism. Hang on, they are in the People's Republic of California. Socialism writ large

What a strange atmosphere, all the employees seems in a very strange mood. I couldn't find passion or happiness in their faces.... very strange...
