How do the results change if you search in the non-redundant protein
database instead of in Swissprot, and why?
Swissprot is relatively a smaller database, contains only curated proteins. The NR protein database is much larger, nearly all known proteins. Thus, depending on your purpose, you may get results from NR but not from Swissprot. Certainly, the E-values will be also different even for the same 'hit' protein as the database sizes are different.
Why are patented sequences removed ? What about unintended insertion? ( ex: via LINE-1)
I really appreciate this uploaded webinar. I just hope that the slide annotations have a different font (not the same as the font in the screenshots) so as we, beginners in the use of BLAST, would not get confused which parts of the slide are actual screenshots and which ones were just added by the speaker for discussion.

Hello. In the graphic summary of the Blast sometimes appear some separate regions joined by a horizontal black line and other times without this line. What does this mean? Thank you
