Thanks for the reaction, this is the right question: How? This interpretation of I who have nothing impresses me a lot! How can you interpret and sing in such a young way? One might answer that she has an absolute musical ear, a favorable cranial bone structure, a throat with infinite possibilities, memory and sophisticated musical intelligence, etc. But actually I think about spirituality... Talent, charisma and all your skills and traits of such a high level cannot be random on a single person. We live together and witness a special and brilliant human being at the same time.

Angelina was born with the gift of singing beautifully - but she has also mastered her craft. She wrote it in honor of her employer / mentor Porter Wagoner as a loving farewell to him when she left his T.V. show to go on as a solo performer. This was recorded in thestudio of the music school she was enrolled at, she's been singing for around 3 years at this point - I figure she's quite the perfectionist, and it was great how she responded to the comments from the mixer/tutor in the vein it was given - an observation to work on, not as a criticism. She obviously learnt early that, if you make a mistake, don't let it trouble you and keep going. To sing professionally you have to handle those situations like that.

She said she started singing at 1 1/2. Who knows what that was like but here, she's reading and perfectly pronouncing English and is spot on in regards of the melody. I'm sure she rehearsed but I get the feeling she can already read music. However she does it, she's incredible!
Actually this was her forth recording within a month or so at her schools recording studio. She had previously recorded. Rolling In The Deep, Hurt, and Sky Fall. This however was the best of the four. There is a previous recording of her at five during an interview where she is showing her home to the interviewer. When she is showing her toys and clothes she picks up plastic toy guitar and states “this not so good “. She starts strumming and sings “Rolling In The Deep “. The conversation is in English.

I've cried from her performances, but this touched me so hard because of her age partly and also she's so freaking professional. That just blows me away. She already knows how to sing with out any lessons.

If it is any comfort, I believe she is pretty close to 7 in this clip - her adult front teeth are fighting their wonky way out at this stage. I have seen an earlier clip, in the same studio (a feature in the Oslo music school she attended, one of her teachers at the console) where she is probably only 5 - she has only lost the right front milk tooth and the left one appears loose... In that clip her voice is not nearly as controlled, pitch-assured and resonant as in this one. What a difference a year makes!

One thing I appreciate so much is that she soon abandons the studio CRAP that's poured onto her vocals here, as people realize, "This kid doesn't NEED vocal effects. Let her use her own voice." Within a year, she's delivering Billie Holiday's GLOOMY SUNDAY on live-TV in such a convincing tonal impression that wet-eyed adults are left gasping in disbelief. So, I appreciate hearing this 6-year-old being 'augmented' by studio effects and the next times we see her, no effect. Her voice, hers alone. This version has a good place in the history of her development.

If you read the comment carefully, Jollyo said "around the same time as this [I Who Have Nothing] song," meaning Jollyo AGREES with you that Angelina was 6 when she did "Rolling in the Deep." So, you BOTH are correct. Mike Plott is incorrect on the time frame; probably just an innocent human error for which we should give him some latitude. By the way, the song she attempted at 1.5 years, "I Will Always Love You," is NOT a Whitney Houston song originally. The original writer / singer of this song is Dolly Parton. She wrote it in honor of her employer / mentor Porter Wagoner as a loving farewell to him when she left his T.V. show to go on as a solo performer. Whitney Houston was merely a cover artist for the song.

This was recorded in thestudio of the music school she was enrolled at, she's been singing for around 3 years at this point - I figure she's quite the perfectionist, and it was great how she responded to the comments from the mixer/tutor in the vein it was given - an observation to work on, not as a criticism.

She said she started singing at 1 1/2. Who knows what that was like but here, she's reading and perfectly pronouncing English and is spot on in regards of the melody. I'm sure she rehearsed but I get the feeling she can already read music. However she does it, she's incredible!
Actually this was her forth recording within a month or so at her schools recording studio. She had previously recorded. Rolling In The Deep, Hurt, and Sky Fall. This however was the best of the four. There is a previous recording of her at five during an interview where she is showing her home to the interviewer. When she is showing her toys and clothes she picks up plastic toy guitar and states “this not so good “. She starts strumming and sings “Rolling In The Deep “. The conversation is in English.

Remember as most kids around this age she's still learning to read & write in her own language (Norwegian) & she was also learning Farsi (Persian) & Swedish & English some Japanese & she's still learning her 4 instruments, etc etc (now 5 instruments) She's 6 almost 7 years old. She did this about a year before NGT. It’s hard to grasp that at times. Angie’s grandma (Mery) released this 3 yrs after filming.
Angie has been the driving force behind Angie. God gave her the gifts & she keeps them sharp & in shape so not to lose them or take advantage of the gifts. (kind of like the adage: “lose it if you don't use it”. She doesn't take it or anything God gave for granted. Angie at this age, has already more class & character beyond most adults now a days. (when Angie was 12 opening for Quincy Jones 85th B-day in Londan, Madonna described her as "terrifying")

If it is any comfort, I believe she is pretty close to 7 in this clip - her adult front teeth are fighting their wonky way out at this stage.
I have seen an earlier clip, in the same studio (a feature in the Oslo music school she attended, one of her teachers at the console) where she is probably only 5 - she has only lost the right front milk tooth and the left one appears loose...
In that clip her voice is not nearly as controlled, pitch-assured and resonant as in this one. What a difference a year makes!
Reading the lyrics , interpreting their meaning and then singing them at 6 years old ! Are you kidding me ! Her sense of timing and vocal nuances that this song requires are unbelievable ! English isn't even her first language , mostt 6 yr olds can't read their own language let alone another one ! What really impresses me the most is her absolute confidence in herself ! She is so fearless , sincere and committed in her abilities ! This is crazy ! First time in a studio and first take with this result for a 6 year old is uncanny ! Seasoned professionals require so many takes when they record ! Now I know why she is able to record her covers and songs in one take ! One thing I appreciate so much is that she soon abandons the studio CRAP that's poured onto her vocals here, as people realize, "This kid doesn't NEED vocal effects. Let her use her own voice." Within a year, she's delivering Billie Holiday's GLOOMY SUNDAY on live-TV in such a convincing tonal impression that wet-eyed adults are left gasping in disbelief. So, I appreciate hearing this 6-year-old being 'augmented' by studio effects and the next times we see her, no effect. Her voice, hers alone. This version has a good place in the history of her development.
