Itachi won because of the overpowered sealing technique which orochimaru found a way around anyways. At the end of the day Orochimaru is immortal. Sharigans are just plot devices in Naruto. Izanami and Izanagi for example.
Orochimaru wasn’t even that super strong, he just knew so many crazy jutsu and the fact that he is basically immortal. I wish they stopped the ridiculous power creep at where it was at the atkatsuki time line cause it just got stupid after that.

Hishu fights significantly weakened version of Hashi and Tobi under worse version of edo and he is barely pulling through. Madara when revived from edo utterly stomps EMS sasuke and sage mode Naruto (even without Madara in sage mode in this case he blitzes him). Then in sage mode and without eyes proceeds to stomp all tailed beasts and shinobi alliance. Madara was shown to have perfect Susanoo way back in war arc. Age shouldn't affect Hiru ninjutsu to any significant degree if something it should get better with experience and knowledge, at most physical stats would be nerfed. Hiru ninjutsu demonstrated nowhere near capacity and destrutive power as Madara perfect susanoo (let alone susanoo armored nine tails) and Hashi several thousand hands technique or wood human technique. Hasi or Madara are in league in their own and prior to Naruto and Sasuke they were pretty much peak ninja (with few coming somewhat close such as Nagato/Pain) so they they most likely quickly dispatch prime Hiru if they get serious.

Orochimaru took it and re-developed it, then later Kabuto did the same, and shortly after orochimaru once again used a different variation of the technique. There's like 4 or 5 iterations and none of them are ever properly explained. But Kabuto's version during the great war was the best, as the one Orochimaru later uses to revive the 4 kages is undoubtedly weaker.

Senju were nerfed but... aside from god DNA charachters which other ninjas could fight against these three at once like the third did? Anyway i miss those days where we had had real ninjas and not that crap that started at the great war.
Orochimaru was just learning edo tensei at this point, the two are barely 10 percent power. Tobirama didnt even teleport, hashirama barely used wood and no sage mode.

i think thats only 5% of their power, level 1 edo tensei hahha. while on great ninja war, perfect edo tense, power is same like before they die and with their personality + infinite chakra, edo tensei is my favorite tech. in naruto.... imagine bringing the powerful shinobi back to life and control them... class SSS forbidden tech.
Only hashirama could break edo tensei, because in shipuuden he was at full power and has his personality as mentioned. Tobirama wasn't able to. Hashirama himself mentioned how talented orochimaru is.

And finally he fought Orochimaru and two hokages while he was weakened by old age and yet manadged to win against two imortals kage and inflict a big F-you to Orochimaru before dying.
Sarutobi may have made bad decisions but he was probably one of the strongest shinobi on earth when he was at his prime
