Leather car seat seam stitch repair

Repair of the leather drivers seat seam stitching. I used a curved needle and nylon thread I purchased from Amazon. It’s important to use nylon thread for strength needed for leather. I also doubled the thread for added strength. This repair takes patience as it’s slow going and best if you can pull the seat out of the car and place it on a table for comfort. Bending down in a car for this repair is doable but very uncomfortable.

I would suggest, however, that for this particular repair, the double needle blind stitch is more effective, a bit stronger, and a bit more forgiving. I used to do this repair the same way you did, and after learning the double blind method, I haven't used a ladder stitch since. Check it out and add it to your repertoire. Great video!

I reacently bought myself a nice Mazda 6 MPS, the interior is in really good shape exept for some small rips in some of the seams, never done something like this before, but looking at the prices to have it fixed, is more then enough motivation to do it myself. Thanks for the video, this certainly cleared things up a lot.
