Love how he tried so hard to it non-technical but then said "we call it a node" lol.
Thank you so much by adding my knowledge in propagating plants.
I learned about you last week. I looked up more videos and found your channel. Thanks for your work. I will be looking at this posting several times to make sure I learn from your teachings.
Fantastic! Thank you. I’m in zone 10a in SoCal and looking to learn (in my retirement) more about propagating (particularly these Reiger begonias I picked up). Wonderful presentation.
Love your handy dandy pen dibber 😆 In my garden bag I have proper dibbers but I find myself grabbing my writing utensil more times than not.
Thank you! I feel comfortable about clipping my plants!
Great video, Thanks!
Thanks for this David, I'm going to follow your advice with my rosemary, I have a rather old specimen in my garden & I look forward to seeing the outcome.
Interested to see if the honey works the same as the rooting hormone powder. Do you notice a difference in growth rates?
Is Perlite better than using horticultural grit?
Kate
Hi Kate, I'm still experimenting with the honey. So it'll be interesting to see how well my cuttings get on. Perlite is lighter than hort grit, which can be an advantage but as long as you have good drainage, that is what really matters.
When is the right time to bring in giant begonias. Mine are still in bloom and we are at the 26th oct . Thank you David ❤️
Hi, they should fine until the first frost. That's the time to bring them inside.
@@daviddomoney Thank you . But we did have first frost last week but I guess it was not a hard frost . I will keep an eye on the weather ❤️
NICE WORK
When is the best time to take a cutting from a fuchsia and where do you cut?
Hi Tony, for a hardy fuchsia late autumn in the UK, cut from the base of the plant just below a couple of leaves. For tender fuchsia, you can take cuttings at any time of year, with the best results in spring and summer. Cut below a node (the leaf joint), pinch out the top, dip into hormone rooting powder and plant in peat-free compost.
👍🏼😊
I have got a couple of hibiscus plants that I would like to propagate - any pointers for this please? Also, I have a passionflower that I would like to propagate. I love taking cuttings and getting new ones. I always take fuchsia cuttings (and I give lots away). We actually have at least one fuchsia plant that I grew from a cutting at our old house ........... we moved 22 years ago! Thanks for the help David.
❤
Brilliant advice on propagating I'm getting some rooting powder for my geraniums ❤
Thank you Iv tried to propagate Rosemary so many times but have never been successful
This is why I enjoy watching your video’s because I learn from them. I’m not a gardener but I do enjoy my garden. I was good at growing plants and cuttings when I was younger but for some reason nowadays i can not seem to grow cuttings. Thank you for your teaching
