On a serious note, if you're worried about economic downturns, etc., then you might be starting to think about how you could continue to create your music on a budget. For example, you might be downsizing everything for a reason, or you may need to sell equipment to increase your cash flow situation. Whatever your situation may be, I recommend the small portable Boss Micro BR-80. Not only does it create great recordings for you by literally doing "everything" you need to record a song, it also runs on two AA batteries. It's all I used for years, not because I couldn't afford anything else at the time in my own personal situation, but rather that it seemed to do a great job on my songwriting recordings and the fact that it could easily travel with me anywhere was a bonus too. If my own future circumstances do change for the worse then it's the Boss Micro BR80 that will keep me being creative and productive.

I cannot thank you enough for this video. For me, the perfect level of detail and pace of delivery. The BPM/tempo. Check. Drum patch. Check. Guitar effect. Check. Wonderful C chord walk down riff (if that is what it is called?). Check. Input volume (Big one here.) Check. I'm 62 years old. Intermediate level player. Same gear. I just want to have fun writing and playing simple pop songs. I really dig you showing how to combine a simple catchy riff and basic chords with a nice drum loop. In the future, also interested in what guitar tone to put left (clean and jangly?) with right (crunchy?). Thank you.
Great to hear!.. at the end of the day its got to be fun and I'm enjoying too doing these videos. The "summer clean" on the br80 works with everything jangly.. I think they've created it as a tom petty thing, and anything in the country twang menu works well with it. But all of those country sounds in the br80 are very good.
Excited to hear your planning on doing more of these, nice!
Thanks for showing us how it's done
Re-watching for learning purposes. First, I can't sing as well as you. But today I started editing the pitch correction and boy it can help if you use it subtly. I was impressed that you can set the specific key to nudge your vocal too. Second, you forgot more about the BR-80 than I will ever know, but I discovered one can preview the drum patterns without turning the transport on and off by using the Rhythm button to preview the patterns. As one scrolls through patterns the BR-80 will play each pattern for you without need to use the transport.
Love learning you processes. Look forward to seeing you work through this song.
Their is an interesting vocal sound comparison at the last video on these ones.. see what you think, and many more recording videos to come.
Champyun!
I think if I had had a BR-80 I would probably never have got a BR-800. I loved my Micro-BR (the one before the BR-80) but it won't record or master reliably now. Keeps saying "Drive Busy" randomly. That is a great little song!
I sold my br800 and regret it so I've been looking at getting another one, their rare as hens teeth though. I see a lot of multitracks are getting a bit thin on the ground at this moment? The br800 is a strange one compared to the workings of the br80!.. but the br800 does record vocals nice. I was looking at the original 4 track micro br the other day in close detail and in the photos it looks very well made, sturdy, even compared to the later br80. I wish these companies would go back to making quality over quantity.
Nice! Part 2 coming up!
I will be doing monthly these type of recording videos!.. good fun.. I've got lots of ideas for future recording videos planned.
hi at last a video showing how to use it not showing us what a fantastic guitar player you every time i find a video all you get is look at me arn't i great and bugger all about the device i say well done i can't understand why you have not had a million hits as las a human like the rest of us just down to earth stuff warts and all just a guy helping other people out like me
Hi, I'm facing a problem, when I go to the MTR and go to choose the drums it appears protected and I can't do anything, why? I can no longer select any drum preset. Can you help me please?A lock appears at the top. I can't even press record anymore, I can't do many things, I mean the MTR, why?
Great video thanks. I’ve just bought this bit of kit. How are you connected to a monitor? I’m using headphones but I have an external speaker that I’d like to use. Thanks 😊👍
Hello there, yes just go headphones out! if your speaker jack is a larger 1/4 inch then their are (mini jack adapters) that fit over it to make it the smaller connection. Using headphones on the br80 is also fine because they have the volume limit set low which is sensible to protect your ears. Thanks for subscribing I've got more br80 videos planned for the coming months.
@@robredheadmusician Thankyou very much. 👌👍
My BR 80 scroll wheel only clicks when turning clockwise. Not anticlockwise.
Quite insignificant but very annoying.
Is that just the way they are or is mine faulty? 🤔
Cheers 🍻
I think its just the way they are !.. my right knee does the same thing.
@@robredheadmusician 😂 Ok. Cheers for the response anyway 👍
I hate the drum track on this, they're all way too busy except for the one you found there : )
The song is good but the Boss device is mediocre ! 🤣
