I think since Bobcat grew up with Gabby, he just accepts that she's naughty and that's why he's patient with her. Plus she's awesome.
They are brother and sister
Like a lot of older brothers, he ignores his sister!
I feel like assigning the term, "naughty," to Gabby is unfair. Gabby is not a person and her behavior may be totally acceptable within a pride. Every lion is different and should be accepted as such.

Mate, your videos are second to none. And watching you meet those animals on the level you do- I know it must be ultra tiring to love them that deeply, but that's what it takes to know an animal like that. Today we buried our boy Leo, born December 01, he was with us our whole marriage. The bond was exquisite. On my last day with him we layed together in the sun/ yesterday, and he leaned up to me and rubbed noses with me both directions 4 times. So 8 kisses.we both held his hand as he left us at 530 am today. Old age took him. He did not suffer. He was a blue Burmese, but was very much like a big cat in a few ways.

They probably think like "Kevin is off limits." So both the hyenas and lions have an agreement not to hurt you.

I feel like they all see Kevin as their own packs' leader, so he has the "permission" to smell like hyenas, leopards, human babies or tuna fish, and smell like having been eating any of them for what they are concerned. ;P He's the provider, the boss, he's not questionable, and I'm pretty certain they love him very much, too, for being the provider and because they can easily pick up on how much Kevin loves them too.
You are on the right track but not fully there. He isn't the leader. This is proven because bobcat is the leader, hence testosterone. When he plays with them, he falls on his back every time.
It's something else. I posted a theory, me know your thoughts.
Hes actually been hospitalized 5 times by the hyenas
Well I think that animals don't have any kind of an insecurity emotions unlike homo sapiens who do get insecure of their relationship/bond when they see their favourite person being with their enemies.
Bobcat is so glorious...Gabby is so playful. They are probably very confident of your leadership...alpha male. I love your love for them..

I never appreciated how huge they are until I saw the trailer move when they jumped in.
They are big. Not as big as a tiger but big. Kevin’s lion, Gandalf weighs 550 pounds! Most males are at least 400 pounds. Vayetse is also a very big boy.
You should see Gandalf the white lion...he is the biggest of them all...among the lionesses Meg and Amy have always been the biggest

@Baldhina Asnake Leopard-size might be stretching it a bit, but certainly some subspecies are smaller than most lions, or maybe even around the size of a big jaguar... the BEAUTIFUL (& rare) Sumatran tiger & the (sadly extinct) Javan & Balinese tigers are about that size!
Males are 4ft tall at the shoulder

I'm very happy you addressed this topic in your video! I was thinking about this many times. How do they not mind that you interact with hyenas and vice versa?! It's really perplexing that they don't mind smelling each other from you and seeing you being friends with the "enemies". They are just amazing, it shows how intelligent and complex creatures they are 💕
That really is astounding. Considering how hyenas and lions are natural-born enemies, even in the enclosures. Yet they don't tear Kevin apart when they smell the other species on him. The lions obviously know, even though he smells like a hyena, he isn't one of them. And vice-versa. It's astounding.
It's probably similar to how some people hate dogs, but not necessarily dog owners.
If they got in a fight in the wild and their scents rubbed off on each other, they wouldn't just get rejected by their respective groups would they? I bet they understand that Kevin is protecting each group from each other.

Omygosh he is!!! Bobcat is magnificent! There is something about him and his attitude. So cool, calm and in control....such a gorgeous lion.
Tau was probably the best looking. His soul piercing eyes were something to behold.

Almost as if they know you're clearly not of their species but accept you because of your positive interactions and bond but don't have the same expectations of you that they would of one of their own. Can't say enough about how much I appreciate your love and efforts for these animals. Whatever we think about the motivations for their behavior, never ceases to amaze me the interactions they are capable of having with us when treated with respect and wisdom.
Bobcats head is huge! It just looks kind of normal size until he is next to Kevin, then you understand just how big he really is.

Mate , you have put in loads of hard work to establish relationship with them . They trust you like their family member . That's why they don't seem to get bothered with your relationship with others .
I'm always fascinated by Kevin's interaction with his animals. It seems so relaxed and natural and the animals appear to accept him in a unique sort of way. Kevin is certainly a special person and I truly admire his mission in life. I'm getting rather old, but I would really like to visit his facility some day. Keep up the great work, Kevin.
It's easy to be impressed by anyone who can handle big cats in person but it's exceedingly rare that the person handling them is so understanding and kind-hearted like Kevin. Often times if you ever see videos of people handling big cats/bears/other large predatory animals, they've been declawed or treated inhumanely, OR the caretaker does not respect the animal enough to know the body language and is rolling the dice on his life. Kevin is a real treasure.

I love that Gabby is such a trouble marker. She has such a unique spirit. Bobcat trying to be the cool, magnificent male lion then he has a crazy sister. It is too funny.
I also always wondered why the hyenas or lions don't care that Kevin smells like their arch enemies. 😂

It’s incredible how animals have been engineered to disappear into the landscape. It’s even more incredible when you look at an animal like a leopard, cheetah, tiger, etc... you’d assume they’d stick out like a sore thumb, but it’s just the opposite.

Bob Cat is the most gorgeous lion I have ever seen. I understand the reasons why, but what a shame the circumstances of his life are such that he didn’t get to pass on his lineage. Such a waste of a magnificent male cat. I have mental pictures of at least one black mane beautiful proud son. Thanks Kevin.

Considering where they lived previously, it was a lion farm...so chances are..Bobcat would of most likely would of been sold and hunted and killed by trophy hunters. As Handsome and Majestic as Bobcat is...I AM SO GREATFUL Kevin took Bobcat, Bandit and Gabby when he left that place. We would have never got to meet them and relish in envy just to be able to approach these animals let alone be accepted NY them. Kevin has paid his dues, Kevin earned that right.

Kevin, you and the lions have such love and respect for one another that I feel no matter who you are with, the lions won’t hold that against you!
Wow, can't believe Gabby behaved herself so well. She didn't even jump on you once. Not a single..... NO Gabby! Beautiful animals and the bonds you have with the different types. They all most just know you are that special person in their lives and part of their family but also think you are just a little out there because you will hang with those other types. Both Bobcat and Gabby were more mild in attitude today, no roaring from Bobcat showing who is the boss to the other lions besides hyenas besides Gabby being so tame. Love Fridays and I always look forward to your videos.

You don't get a sense of how big hyenas are when you see them in documentaries, but seeing them as the truck passed by their pen, man they look huge! As for the size of the cats, just WoW 😻

I love that he walks them and makes sure they have plenty of change of scenery to make them happy i wish that other sanctuaries did that. Lions are beautiful animals one of my favorites!

I was just about to mention Bobcats black. At first, it looked like he had a black marshmallow on his tail, lol. And she just seems to wait until you aren't expecting her! Gabby also looked a bit disgruntled that she didn't get to kill a tire, lol. My cats used to hiss at me if I smelled of another cat. My dog does pout, not that I cheated with another dog, that excites him, but if I go shopping without him, oh man, he'll come, smell me and pointedly turn his back and sit. Then he peeks to see if I noticed him! They are beautiful, Kevin, and every bit as 'sentient' as we are. I so love what you're doing. 👍😘🥰✌😷🎃

Watching the head bumping between you and the lions had become natural for me to accept. But then I was watching a vid of lions in the wild, and they did the exact same thing with each other. THAT made me see that truly you are accepted by the cats in your care.
As for how the various "enemies" can accept you being with the "other side", maybe it's like the sports announcer being on good terms with both teams.
You have a special relationship with them and so wonderful. 🦁🦁

This is just what i needed after a busy week! It is curious, but my indoor cat always notices when I've been around another cat and her response is always to give me a 'look' before rubbing herself all over me - I guess she's getting rid of their scent with her own. I always find it funny. They're smart enough to know you're still theirs, I think 💕

Was Gabby complaining about no access to the tires when she first got off the truck? I think so.
It makes sense to me why they don’t hold anything against you. It’s love. They love you. The connection you have with them is one in a lifetime. For everything you do for them, you earned all of their love. It makes perfect sense.

From 14:00 it is just pure friendship if possible to get with a lion, and 15:00 to 15:05 it's something You could not even stage to be better view of Gabby and Bobcat :)

Has Gabby or Bobcat had any luck hunting while out walking? Bobcat is one fine specimen of a male lion!! All of your lions are in excellent condition for their age. Keep what you are doing!!
I think it's because of the relationship between both groups you have a great relationship with the hyenas and of course with Bobcat and Gabby; therefore, they don't really care about the other group when your with them
Such a great inquiry! Most of me wants to think they know you are “human” and not a threat. Like the fair, meat brining, walks, pilchards brining awesome uncle person! 🤷🏼♀️💞🦁

Kevin- the things you were saying at the end.... That is exactly what my father says whenever we watch your videos together. He’s 70, and doesn’t really do youtube (or anything online for that matter haha). But when I’m visiting with my parents, (and I always have my iPad with me) I inevitably put on some "Kevin videos" as he calls them, and he just gets into this kind of state... mesmerized.... impressed... amazed. And he always says things like, "That is just incredible. Those are wild carnivores. Look at how they love & respect him. I love that. That is truly amazing. Kevin is so lucky. He is blessed. He put in all the years of hard work and extreme dedication, and look how it’s paid off for him. That’s so wonderful." And he’s always so astonished by how the animals have all accepted you as a pride mate or clan member. (As am I, of course). But he always makes a point of talking about that, specifically. He just says "I can’t imagine how fantastic that would feel. That is so cool." Kevin really inspires my father, more than I even knew. Stuck here in the middle of the Midwest US, we will probably never get the opportunity to see such amazing creatures in real life, but seeing them in Kevin’s videos is the next best thing. Every time I go see my folks, dad always asks if there are any new Kevin videos that we can watch. It’s so sweet. (And even if there aren’t - he loves it just as much to go back & watch oldies but goodies).
I just wanted to say thank you, for lighting up my dad's eyes and bringing him a little taste of the big, beautiful world, and giving us something else to bond over. We will ALL always love you for that.

In all my 47 years I have never seen a male lion of bobcats age that looked as fit as he does and how dark his mane and legs are true signs of a very good life. You should be very proud of how u have raised an d treated your animals Kevin. Ty for all your hard work trying to spread the word and knowledge about the plight of predators and their habitats.

I like to think that Bobcat and Gabby know the secret of unconditional love. They don't love because of who you know, or who you hang around with, they just love Kevin and any time they get to be together is valuable. They stay present and freely give their full attention. Gabby says, " Who cares where you were yesterday, you are here now and i love it".
