All you need to do is make/find text overlays that have the context you want (example: "bored") then spot direct them to where you want it, and like in the kiss list, shift the overlay slightly above the head of the character meanwhile changing the opacity. Remember to use the & symbol!
This is really helpful, thank you! I saw a similar feature where you had to tap five glass bottles in less than 10 seconds (because the character was practising with guns) and I was wondering how I may be able to do that. Can you please make a video on how to do something similar to this, where in a certain amount of time, the player needs to tap a certain amount or a certain type of overlays in order to gain points or to progress in the story?

How to make sure that a reader has searched for every clue in a particular scene before it can move forward. I mean I want the reader to be able to go to the next scene only if they have looked for all the possible clues.
My only question is how you got the overlays like the beach and the village with the background cover and the colorful "lines" around it, either way, this was really helpful! Thank you!
I haven't played around with overlays at all but I love the video. A question I have is for overlays or choices. When a reader picks an overlay that they want (location) how can you tell how to continue your story? For each place that they pic do you have to have a continuance from that location in the script?
I've tried putting this on the episode forum, but I still haven't found a solution. Whenever I use overlays, they don't end up in the right spot they're supposed to. For example, in the code, I have an overlay that is supposed to ‘shifts to -361 -4’. But when I look at it in the app, it says that it ‘shifts to -675 9’ and I don't know why.

Thank you so much for this video, but I have a question. So basically, I have three tappable overlays that need to be tapped in order to get to the next scene, but it doesn't work. So, after I tap one overlay, the scene changes, but I need the reader to tap all three overlays so that the scene can change. I don't know if this made any sense um... Please help
ok, the problem is when you use this tappable thing, it doesn't go on to the scene change, it stops right after the curly bracket ends. The tappable overlay works, but it doesn't go on to any scene changes or events that happen after you cut off the curly bracket. It just stops right inside the code in the curly brackets. To fix this, I just used a label in the beginning of the scene change and the goto command at the end of the code in the curly bracket. It takes you to the next scene instead of looping back in the code of the curly brackets or stopping entirely. Hopefully, this rant helps if any of that ^ happens while you use this lol.
Okay so hey joseph Ive been watching a couple of your tutorial videos and boy can I say they helped a bunch..But one issue..So I did customize name but when I want someone to say Hi to them or ask them what their name is how do I do that Like for example: The reader chooses "Sally" As their name and someone comes up to them and is like "Hey im Kale and you are" How Do I make it so it says whatever name they chose..Please help (Hope I worded it right )
so i used one of episodes script templates (Avatar - Name Input) and then I get an error in that code saying "ERROR: You cannot have a label inside if/then statements or {}". I'm getting really frustrated because I don't know what I'm supposed to do and I haven't messed around with the template so I don't know if it's just episode that is wrong or if I did something wrong
You need to upload the overlay first, wait for it to be approved then you can publish it. Coding the episode, however, doesn't need an approved overlay. Go to art catalog, you'll find that feature!

I’ve already written a help tickets and received answers from Episode community, but that didn’t solve it. I’m working on my computer (Macbook Pro) and my preview doesn’t work. It shows the white blank. But it does work on my phone and my father’s computer. I noticed that you use Macbook too and maybe you can help me with my issue. Hi there. Can someone please help me with this? I've done the right steps for tappable overlays so I can have a dress-up game in my story, but despite adding @clearall ui AND @clearall overlay together for good measure after the reader chooses an outfit, I can't get rid of the tappable overlays. I've tried clearing them individually, setting their opacity to 0 (using the & so it doesn't hold up the story), and even tried moving them to the zone over just to get rid of them, but no matter what I try, they don't disappear! So for now I'm saving the coding I have in a different document and creating a classic choice list for the 3 outfits you can choose from. But does someone know what's happening? I've been fighting with episode for days now, and nothing I've tried has worked. Thank you, and hope you have a great day!

When they're there you could either do a choice that says 'are you sure you want to go here' or you could just continue writing and the reader will stay there.
You can use apps to make overlays! I use PicsArt to make my overlays, when you download the app, use a background then delete the background so its just a canvas, then go to stickers and search for whatever you'd like! You could also crop picture and type in stuff like 'Start' 'Skip' and make arrows xx Hope this helped!
I've tried to make probably, 1400 stories so far, and didn't even finish ONE chapter. I get so bored, and tired. This is so many features, and too complicated. I like making stories on my phone rather than the computer. I hope limelight comes out on my phone, same with more animations, and clothing, and settings.

When you move ur first one, when u have the other speech bubbles (ik it’s a pain but...) you set them where u want them

Can you do a tutorial on how to make the characters walk side to side?
let's say your character is already in the center, all you have to do is @CHARACTER walks to screen left @CHARACTER walks to screen left and then repeat this a few times.
Also make sure you put @CHARACTER faces left in between, because otherwise they'll start walking to the left when their face is still to the right.
And can you tell us.. how do you do that with outift choices?
mine doesnt seem to let me click in preview is this a window thing or is something wrong?
