- We taste around a thousand teas to curate our Mei Leaf selection and all of them are high-grade brews. Trying to find the flaws in a tea is what we do! This tea is a great one from a very famous area but it did not quite make the selection. Here is why.

yes, please more of these rejects, with you explaining the quality markers or their lack, it is very interesting and helpful (more than the supermarket teas).
Every time I get a notification for a new video I feel deeply conflicted- the excitement of a new tea 🍵 vs having to justify yet another purchase 😂

I always love any tea qualifying video you do, anything that really explains or delves into how curated your tea is is fantastic! I think that's one of the biggest things that sets you apart from commentators, many people offer good tea but you offer tea that you personally like more than something that is 'good and will sell well', and understanding the curator is always extremely helpful and fun.
I do appreciate this video,to showcase a rejected tea is a great window into the selection process.
It’s not a video of you drinking “bad” tea.
It is simply explaining why that particular tea just didn’t make the cut,even if it is just by a hair!

I love these videos! Not only is it very interesting to learn about your selection process, and the little factoids you drop along the way (like the straight leaves thing), it also helps me verbalize why I like or don't like teas. This helps me make decisions on which teas to buy based on samples.
I appreciate hearing the honesty from the tea producer and all around with us as well. 🙏🏼🌱

I like the idea of reviewing rejects. I've taken a few coffee roasting classes and they often get you to taste correctly and incorrectly roasted coffee
Do you keep and drink the samples after you have made your selections or do you give them to friends/family?

To be honest... the supermarket videos are for fun and easy to watch, especially when you make funny faces on funky teas 😆 but I much rather watch educational ones like this. 👍🏻

I think these format videos would be interesting and informative. It’s beneficial to hear about the flaws and what the tea lacks. I think they would be a good counterpoint to your other videos and round out your overall knowledge sharing.
Hi Don, can I have I question? I live in a really humid environment and my unglazed yixing teapot develops mold relatively quickly on it's own, no matter how dry it was before; how can I get rid of the mold and how can I prevent it from getting moldy in the first place? Glazed teaware doesn't have this issue so i guess it's because of the porousness of the clay harboring life...
Secondly, I noticed a lot of sellers on aliexpress sell tea cheaply - is it worth a try, or can I expect only bad tea there?

This is a great idea for a series. However, it would be more interesting if you were blindfolded and didn't know what tea kind of tea.
difficult to brew blindfolded but maybe I will ask Celine to join on the next one.

How do vendors/producers come up with their prices? There is certainly not a single tea in this world that is worth 4$/g, but worth and price can drift apart dramatically. Do they simply put on a ridiculous price tag and hope that some nutjob will buy it, assuming that it must be great because it's so expensive, or what?

I guess the target audience for these teas are people looking to buy an exclusive expensive gift for somewhat - i.e. they want it to be from some specific famous area, etc.
I didn't say it can't be that expensive, just that no tea is worth that much. I'm sure there are teas sold for way more than 26$/g.
probably because in china some people are obscenely wealthy, hence why you get chinese citizens buying up houses in another country just to leave them empty so that they can be sold later at a profit and also as a tax dodge. I guess the money they make from that they can then be used to purchase some really nice tea as well as yachts, sports cars and other millionaire shizzle.

I can take every part of your videos until you start doing the taste notes thing. ...u dont smell any of those things man. Im not stupid. U dont have a magic nose. I really wish we had a better way of explaining the things we taste.
