NPE 94 The emotional impact of Amy and Rory losing their daughter is completely glossed over. Mel being revealed to be River and growing up alongside Amy and Rory all along is a ridiculous attempt at softening the blow of them losing Melody. The Doctor using the teselecta is a cheap get out of jail card, which doesn't even make sense because the Doctor started to regenerate in "The Impossible Astronaut". The teselecta is a machine operated by humans. It shouldn't have been able to replicate a regeneration. It would've made slightly more sense if it was a flesh duplicate of the Doctor, but that thread was completely dropped and never mentioned again. Even then, the Eleventh Doctor was the last in the Doctor's regeneration cycle, so it would've still been inconsistent because he had no regenerations left. Why was it necessary for the Doctor and River to get married? It felt so OTT and dramatic for absolutely no reason. All of that emotional build up and drama felt so cheap, unnecessary and manipulative, when the teselecta twist was revealed. Also, it was never even explained how the Silence were able to control and blow up the Tardis and why they were willing to put all of reality in danger just to stop the Doctor from getting to Trenzalore? They were trying to save reality by destroying all of reality? Makes sense. Sorry mate, but you're the "boring drain" who can't seem to take it, whenever anyone is critical of the Matt Smith era.
Joke of the episode: - There's a reason why I'm shooting, honey! What are you doing? - Helping. - You've got a screwdriver! Go build a cabinet! That's the second time Moffat used the cabinet joke. First was in "The Doctor Dances" in season 1. The third time is in the 50th anniversary special.
Seriously if you ever give me the show even for one episode the doctor is going to take out a bad guy with a cabinet he's literally just going to start building flat-pack Ikea furniture and smashing it over people's heads
This is probably my favorite two part Doctor Who episode. The writing/acting was on point, the Silence were both threatening and interesting, and the Doctor's means of victory was incredibly clever.
It's probably his most ruthless disposal of an enemy yet. But there's really no peaceful way to deal with an enemy you'll forget about as soon as you can't see them.
My favorite River Line is in "Let's kill Hitler" When she says, "So I was at this Gay, Gypsy Bar Mitzvah for the Disabled, when I thought, Gosh the third Reich's a bit rubbish, I think I'll kill the fuhrer, Whose with me?"

The weeping angel, if the silence hits it with the lightning it shouldn't effect it too much, and it looks away once, the Angel can just teleport it back in time.
Two things about this episode. First, that "Welcome to America" line is about the only time being a stereotypical American has been portrayed as a good thing in Doctor Who. Second, this British show probably has the most charitable portrayal of Richard Nixon I have ever seen. How many times has Nixon actually been on the side of the good guys?

Why do these two episodes always feel so short ? It's like there is no antagonist, no alien of the week in these ones ! And Shane is wrong. Oh and Aaron, UNIT is a global organization, so they have people in the US !
Yeah, this is an odd episode, but for some reason I feel like I remember enjoying it. Aw dang, I think I got some sharpie on my hands by accident. Should probably go wash that off. God i love this cliffhanger!!! Also the horror of the Silence is really well done here. The banter between Doctor and River while fighting is so funny and epic! Love Amy and Rory Oh i can't wait for "good man goes to war!"
The Doctor weaponizing the _Moon landing_ is probably the most badass moment in the entire series for me (though it's kinda really confusing when you consider the later revelations in "The Time of the Doctor," but that's a whole other story).
You know, a thought occurs to me. If we kill a Silent One when we see them and when we look away form them, what happens to the bodies. And is that why we seemingly trip over nothing?
I do love how they tried coming up with all sorts of explanations for the kid at the end except for the obvious one of amy had a kid with the doctor. The episode keeps teasing it quite plainly and there was even that thing from the last season where amy full on tried to go for him after the angels episode but its the one explanation they dont think of XD
You know what would have been *really* cool? If they'd have put the, "You should kill us all on sight" line between, "One small step for" and, "man", overwriting the missing, "a". They missed a trick with that one.
This is a very good two parter and sets up the arc for the series brilliantly. The next episode is pretty bad and the flesh two parter is meh, but the remaining episodes in series 6 part 1 are amazing. I can't wait for "A Good Man Goes to War", there's sure to be some amazing reactions to that episode... Also Shane, you're WRONG!
So satisfying to see them finally wrap up this two-parter, easily some of my most anticipated reactions. For all its ups and downs I have a real soft spot for this season, it was the first one I was caught up enough to watch as it aired.
Love the salute reaction, Rory salutes British army / Air Force fashion. Thumb down, palm facing towards the receiver. There are variants on the British salute by commonwealth countries, but this is the way a British solider salutes. Royal Navy salute palm down,.
Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering why one of them thought the salute was wrong. I wouldn't know right from wrong - also, I'm neither American (dad is, though) nor British, I'm Danish and I just don't know about these things. One of my sons is autistic and has just told me the whole history behind the difference in salute.
A lot of us went through this discussion about River's assertion that her timeline was moving consistently in the opposite direction to the that of the Doctor, and quickly realised that it couldn't possibly be what was happening: if that were really the case it wouldn't be possible for them to ever compare diaries to see what adventures they'd already shared.

The Silence have been with us from the beginning. They shepherded humanity through its formative years, gently guiding and encouraging, like a parent clapping their hands at a baby's first steps. They have been instrumental in all the advances of culture and technology. They watched proudly as man invented the light bulb, the telephone and the internet. They were even there to welcome the first men on the moon.
I adore River and the Doctor for the same reason they kill me. They're all flirty and witty one moment with their banter, then absolutely lovely and sweet when they kiss or look at each other, then heartbreaking and tragic the way they always manage to squeeze in what feels like the last farewell the next. I suppose it technically always and simultaneously never is a final goodbye. Oh my heart
Erics not particularly fair to Amy, which I get why, but she hasnt really 'done' anything. She HASNT flip flopped on Rory since that one regrettable kiss scene, before Rory was even full time. Amy should not answer for Rorys insecurities here, she's proved her love for him and been loyal since he came on board. She literally committed suicide for him in Amy choice . I do understand writing her flirty with the Doctor contrasts with Amy and Rorys love, but thats where i feel Moffat sacrificed her character somewhat to keep the uneasy possibility in the viewers' mind that the child is his .
So why did the Silence want to go to the moon? Why and how did they blow up the Tardis? Why was their plan to kill the Doctor so complicated and yet so simple. Was the suit really necessary to kill him? Why were they controlling humanity? Why did the Doctor go out of character and commit genocide on the species that didn't really do anything bad? Never explained
1. They wanted a holiday. 2. They blew up the Tardis to try to stop The Doctor reaching Trenzalore as they believed it should of been averted. 3. Yes. 4. Because they wanted control. 5. We know how The Doctor feels about slavery from series 1. He aint a fan.
Basically the Silence (the group that parts their way from the Church) tries to force the Doctor to give up on his life by torturing people the Doctor cares. They safeguard this plan by integrating themselves in the large portion of those people's timeline so the Doctor wouldn't dare prevent it from happening since it will change the entire course of the timeline. All this complication happens after they failed to get rid of the Doctor and the TARDIS by force. The machine they built is for controlling the TARDIS from the outside. It failed and blown up the TARDIS and the fabric of the universe, the very reason they do all this in the first place. The entire Eleven's era is a giant time paradox comprises of tons of smaller paradoxes.
Dang I almost forgot why season 6 was convoluted and had so much flack. Its just way to ambitious, Moffat's a smart guy and loves to make complicated plots but he bit off more than he could chew. Threw in maybe 20 mysteries and didn't give himself enough time to actually solve most of them or explore them. Just made a weird mix of great writing, acting, and millions of plot holes that hurt the characters if you think about it too much.
The place called "Lake Silencio, Utah" in the show is actually called Lake Powell and is located on the Colorado River on the Utah-Arizona border. Also, Shane, you're so wrong.
I'm sure they did go on other adventures together but what we see is never a reflection of what we are told. For example, River says at one point they will get married. You make the assumption it's out of love but it's not. They get married for the plot. It's been a long time since I've seen this specific episode and I'm just recounting it from memory but that's basically what it was. And that's what every plot line between the Doctor and River is. She says something will happen that implies a romantic relationship between herself and the Doctor but that thing only happens because of the plot. In fact, I would even say the Doctor only showed up at their final "date" because River told him about it. There was never any romance between them, ever.
Yes, you're right. Regarding her teasing romance, she was just having fun playing with us audience. It's a one side love story retold from her side to reflect her feeling.
something bugs me here about River's timeline.... she implies that they meet in chronological and anti-chronological order, which isn't exactly true since we have seen it more zigzagging than having a perfect strait line in any direction..... also, she says that this is their last kiss (for her), but this River hasn't even met 12 yet, has she ? because they most likely kissed (and more) during their "night" on Darillium and this night is supposedly the last time they see each other before the silence in the library/forest of the dead...... or have I missed something ? ^^'

I like that River got her last moment with Capaldi. They got to meet eachother when they both knew eachother the same amount and could stay that way for 24 years.
Not really a spoiler, Time Lords are created via exposure to the Time Vortex. So makes sense that the kid would gain some Time Lord abilities if exposed to the Time Vortex for a prolonged period of time whilst in the womb
Now that end would been confusing for many been as timelords earn the title n power or regeneration n even in the academmy it may take a long time that child would be in teens at least ot 18 efore establishing that even if that in gallifreyian years, was 50. So ooh I wonder how she can possibly be a timelord?

Also the horror of the Silence is really well done here.
The banter between Doctor and River while fighting is so funny and epic!
Love Amy and Rory
Oh i can't wait for "good man goes to war!"
The Doctor weaponizing the _Moon landing_ is probably the most badass moment in the entire series for me (though it's kinda really confusing when you consider the later revelations in "The Time of the Doctor," but that's a whole other story).
5:37 Such a tiny detail but when the woman shuts the thing on the door the screen goes too in the same sliding way
You know, a thought occurs to me.
Tick Tock goes the clock...
TILL JACKIE TYLER KILLS THE DOCTOR
And all the years they fly...
"I don't know where I am" Amy shouldn't have used the wifi.
A Good Man Goes to War is going to destroy them :D
You know what would have been *really* cool? If they'd have put the, "You should kill us all on sight" line between, "One small step for" and, "man", overwriting the missing, "a".
They missed a trick with that one.
Is a slave really a slave, if he doesn't know he's a slave?
Dunne N' dusted *exasperated Nine voice* Yes.
11:00 Eric.exe stopped working
This is a very good two parter and sets up the arc for the series brilliantly. The next episode is pretty bad and the flesh two parter is meh, but the remaining episodes in series 6 part 1 are amazing. I can't wait for "A Good Man Goes to War", there's sure to be some amazing reactions to that episode... Also Shane, you're WRONG!
MrAzmatMahmood I've never understood the hate for episode 3
"Man, she's got an Iron Man suit."
Thank you, that's amazing! !
Awesome reaction guys love how Erics face at the end lol 😂
"They're listening to Lionel Richie"😂😂😂
I love the Rome falling Dialogue. Shows u how old Rory technically is. It's crazy if u think about it
So satisfying to see them finally wrap up this two-parter, easily some of my most anticipated reactions. For all its ups and downs I have a real soft spot for this season, it was the first one I was caught up enough to watch as it aired.
Gotta be quicker on that pause button Aaron.
The vortex energy (Artron energy) *is* the same thing as the energy used by Timelords to regenerate/ extend their lives.
I remember watching the regeneration ending on TV when I was 14 and I lost my shit
At 8:43 River says “Archeology, love a tomb” as she’s walking into the TARDIS which ends up being the Doctor’s tomb next season.
I like how casually he says "Oh snap, she's part time-lord."
Re-watching this now, i just realized that Rory was older than the Doctor after living 2OOO years +
Shane: *Spouts theory*
Eric: "Hmm....no, no I don't think so."
Me: LMFAO
I just relized, The Doctor likes the uk more because they dont have guns everywhere,
I was hopping they would think Amy and the doctor had the kid and that’s why Amy told the doctor and not Rory she was pregnant
Oh my heart
Worth the wait!
As you've seen the Pirates, Google Henry Avery. Plays very well with your black sails reaction
Brilliant two-parter. Love how intricate and clever the plotting is. Excited to see their reaction to some upcoming reveals 😬
So many future easter eggs in this episode, you guys are in for a ride. Silence will fall...
Can't wait for "when a good man goes to war"
You know what happens by now but no one ever thinks Sarah Jane’s son wasn’t part time lord so Amy’s can’t be.
I’d forgotten how good those two episodes were!
The place called "Lake Silencio, Utah" in the show is actually called Lake Powell and is located on the Colorado River on the Utah-Arizona border.
Also, Shane, you're so wrong.
Glue some of there face to a pair of glasses and ur good
Baseball Bat. Man these guys would have loved Ace.
Yep she is totally The Daughter of River Song
Hey no spoiling 🤫
All Things Paper first of all its not a spoiler and Second They don't read comments
AllTheGoodUserNames AreTaken I was joking. You made a joke so I joked with you 🤦♀️
AllTheGoodUserNames AreTaken can I have an apology please
All Things Paper yep you were totally ‘joking’ you lying twat
I loved this freaky season! I like serious, creepy, and fun together.
How this only have 17 likes?
I'd forgotten about this one. At this point it starts to go bonkers
Yo, that creature is fucking creepy!
Edit: Not sure why I said that. Have yet to see anything.
You deserve my like
I would love if the next reaction for doctor who has the black sails intro. Please. Let this happen.
Please continue to React to The Sarah Jane Adventures
yeahhhhhhh
I love this arc.
I love it that the Doctor is actually a young whippersnapper compared to Rory.
React to ‘Final Space’. Great Show and was created by a Fellow UA-camr
Eric's reaction at the end xD
don't bother trying to make sense out of River's time line. It never makes sense and most of what she says never comes true anyway.
It makes sense enough to me though. It's also implied that there are a lot of adventures they have together off screen.
The reference river song says about being a screamer is directed at the doctor sexually
something bugs me here about River's timeline.... she implies that they meet in chronological and anti-chronological order, which isn't exactly true since we have seen it more zigzagging than having a perfect strait line in any direction..... also, she says that this is their last kiss (for her), but this River hasn't even met 12 yet, has she ? because they most likely kissed (and more) during their "night" on Darillium and this night is supposedly the last time they see each other before the silence in the library/forest of the dead...... or have I missed something ? ^^'
The densest material in the universe and by extension heaviest, can be picked up by 2 guys.
Would a 1kg of a neutron star count as material? Cause that cant be lifted you will molecularly be ripped apart from standing near it or even atomically. Sorry if something is miss spelled i dont speak engish as 1 languange
*ding*
Can't wait for their reaction for a good man goes to war.
I wish they would give us the full reaction to that for free but thats not going to happen is it?
no it won't. Surprisingly the first part is free on their website.
Shane is wrong
I like that River got her last moment with Capaldi. They got to meet eachother when they both knew eachother the same amount and could stay that way for 24 years.
What the fuck was standing behind you in that reaction!!?!??!?!
Not sure why I said that?
Everything you trip over something that isn't there or walk into a room and forget why you went there... just food for thought
Not really a spoiler, Time Lords are created via exposure to the Time Vortex. So makes sense that the kid would gain some Time Lord abilities if exposed to the Time Vortex for a prolonged period of time whilst in the womb
Why would you draw on your face where you can't see it - it's supposed to be a reminder of seeing these bad guys in the first place!
SHANE IS WRONG
Hahaha! Fuck that Lionel Ritchie line had ne in stitches! Lol!!!
Now that end would been confusing for many been as timelords earn the title n power or regeneration n even in the academmy it may take a long time that child would be in teens at least ot 18 efore establishing that even if that in gallifreyian years, was 50.
So ooh I wonder how she can possibly be a timelord?
