In my opinion, Valentina Lisitsa plays Beethoven as well, and usually better than any of the greatest piano virtuoso's I've ever heard! And I believe Her interpretation of Chopin, Liszt, and others are equally as sterling. In any case, she is my favorite pianist of all time. Merry Christmas, Valentina!
In my opinion, she sits at the right-hand side of the musicality-chops spectrum and has some of the most accurate and articulate reference recordings. On the left-hand side of this spectrum, we find pianists like Horowitz and Arrau, where musicality is prioritized over chops. For me, the middle balance is achieved by pianists such as Pogorelich and Giltburg. In personal taste, it's not that pianists anywhere on this spectrum are "better" than others; the middle pianists are simply in the optimal middle of the interpretive spectrum. All of this of course subjective. I'd like to hear Lisitsa on Bach - I think her style would lead to some pretty fascinating recordings in the larger bach cycles.
Her technique is getting better and better (as absurd as this sounds, as it's always been effortless..), but beyond this, her musicianship has reached a height that only the greatest of pianistic 'titans' had.. I dream of her teaching me as I dreamed (and still do) of Argerich doing so..
You do what you love to do. You'll never get any criticism from me. You also bring joy to others with your beautiful playing. I grew up with this music and it brings back good memories of childhood.
The best interpretation in my opinion, on the internet. Full of intricacies and played beautifully by a stunning, virtuoso pianist. Bravo and merry Christmas Valentina.
Man. Your Beethoven really reaches me. I wish I had the vocabulary or the subtle perception to say what it is. It's like being in a conversation that is captivating.
Ciao Valentina. Really a wonderful performance. Beethoven is suspended between music an poetry. Your hands more than playing arre dancing on the keyboard. You looks as beautiful as a Madonna painted by Giovanni Bellini. Thanks for so much beauty, for so many and deep emotions
I'm not sure why people don't like Valentina Lisitsa's interperetations of pieces. I do prefer a few others renditions of Lizsts compositions but I feel that Valentina plays in a way that is totally different than most other classical artists and while I feel maybe less emotionally connected with a few pieces, I think the unfamiliarity and way that she borrows time changes the nature of the composition in an artistic and creative way. I'm glad that she adds a dimension to the music I've never seen before. Just because something is different doesn't mean it's bad, she just found another way to play the same thing and just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it isn't masterfully played.

Dear Valentina, i've been following your content for more than a year right now. I'm 15 and your talent captivated me a lot and since i showed the Rach Concertos to my mom she became a fan too. We admire how much have you practiced, and the passion of the performances. Actually can't find another best present to listen in our home for Christmas than your works avaivable in Spotify, (specially The Nutckacker) and Beethoven Sonatas. Would like to buy the Chopin CD or Tchaikovsky Complete Works because i'm saving enough money for it (i have a scholarship of an amount of money, thanks to my good marks). Hugs from Chile, wish you the best in the Victoria Hall and i'll be so glad if one day you come to here
Gracias!

Hi Valentina! You have no ideia how great it is been to follow this Beethoven Sonatas series!! I am an avid fan of Beethoven's music, specially the sonatas. I try to listen to as many interpretations as I can (Arrau, Backhaus, Brendel, Barenboim etc.), they are so many, so different, but equally interesting. You are a great "beethovian" too. Thank you so much for the videos (they are also some kind of masterclasses for those of us who try to play this pieces). Best wishes from this brazilian fan.
I was in blissful sound heaven when suddenly a truck commercial blasted it's hideous dissonance in my ear! Nothing short of musical blasphemy! But I managed to find my back. Thanks Valentina, and Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🎄🌟⛄❄ love from 🇨🇦

At Christmas the Baby Jesus is reborn, Valentina brings all of us back to life with her wonderful way of interpreting great pianists. Grazie Valentina e Buon Natale❤️❣️😘
What is impressive is the weight you give each note. They are even, not rushed, yet expressive. Beautifully done. Haydn is still my favorite. A request, if you would. Please play Haydn HOB XVI/ no. 32. I would very much like to hear your interpretation.
So much desire to like the whole piece yet definitely glimpse the boredom time to time. Ahh it really hurts sometimes. Hurts to be a vituoso and forced to play things that you are not in mood of.

Clara Haskil, Elly Ney, Annie Fisher , Tatjana Nikolaeva, ...Maria Gudina, ... That are the women who come to my mind when I listen to Valentina. Almost anything I have heard from her is fantastic. There are a few exceptions when she is not happy with herself and you can see that when she forbids comments :) But for Beethoven she must not be concerned about any bad performance. When she plays Beethoven, it is not the artistry, it is the music which catches me. Really amazing to detect each time a new detail, a new source of joy. In this sonata opus 2/2 her musicality is inspiring. It makes you want to play yourself. (I have done so with 2/1 and 2/3, I got never warm with 2/2, but that will change now.) I am wondering: it would be nice to have a collection of videos, like it was in times of Karajan. I prefer the appearance in studio to a recital appearance when everything must be glossy and shiny. In this video I get the impression how she feels the music and that is much more important than a fancy evening dress. I hope to meet her in person, maybe at Bösendorfer, when she returns to Vienna once more.
I can't wait for this! Valentina plays with such grace. I wonder if she like Yanni, I love his music and passion for playing too. You're so awesome Lady Lisitsa. 💗💗💗

The pianists who we personally prefer make optimal use of the channels (perspectives) we prefer. All of this is personal and subjective. I'd like to hear Lisitsa on Bach - I personally think her style would lead to some pretty fascinating recordings in the larger bach cycles.
