OMG Last night I had the best show I have had in a while...Thanks for the energy boost with these videos. Every DJ new or other should watch these videos!! You have made a difference in my world thanks!! :)
i really love your channel because 1. u motivate us a lot 2. many people cant afford to pay the money to learn dj'ing n u do it for free n yeah i hav started playing at gig just because of ur videos i hav learnt 90% of djing form your videos THANKS for all the support u give us
Great video. I also LOVE reggae and the Latino tracks and soca!! I`m new to DJ ing and I `m always listening for new tracks, have you got any suggestions ? Your videos are great, you get to the point! and you speak a lot of sense. Many thanks Will
The funny thing is when I started DJING so far every video i have seen I am currently doing or already did. I always watch to get more tips and insiders view :) I managed to do that every gig i have done I used tracks no one has heard but it has a very good beat or style it works but only if the crowd want it. I think one main point in DJing as a whole is crowd you have to been watching the crowd and learn to identify between: Ah im just standing here or OMG this is amazing i cant stop dancing
old house records are just great! i have lost the count on how many times i showd some tune toa friend or so they sayd they really liked it and them im like ''yeah this is from 1995 or so'' they just look at me really suprised! 1 thing i do though is rearange a lot of tracks in ableton live and make the intro and breakdown more loopy or whatever... so if you're playing a classic that ppl would recognize, thy recognize it but they know something is diferent wich is allways good in my opinion
just gotta say.. i just ordered my 1st Dj controller :D. i got the hercules control air, cant wait to get it and start mapping it to traktor :D thanks for all these tips :)
Do most DJ's on tour for say maybe a year play the same set at each different venue they go to? Like not many changes in the set so that they no exactly where and what they are doing?
Ha ha! Well you've just relieved a LOT of mental pressure for me, Phil! Thank you for that! You see, musically I'm positively stuck in years 2000-2003 xD I was worried that nobody's going to listen to me if I were to take my playing REALLY public-by that I mean not only playing in front of my friends at my parties(which is my humble, realistic goal heh). I just seriously cannot abide modern electronic music...there are some tunes that don't provoke a gagging reflex in me, however, everything else(psst-can you say "tech house"?) has positively gone to shit since 2004ish. Hope I'm not alone on this one! xD
like ambivalent once said... ''djs dont play any redord that dont make you scrunch your face like your taking a dump! '' and its true.. if youre really feeling a tune you instantly make that face haha
That is exactly the type of DJ I want to be, cross genre. Sticking to one genre seems so boring to me and I have heard many people say........Oh you cannot cross genre............as if there is some hard rule to follow.
You absolutely can :) Check out our training "Mixing Power Skills" to learn creative techniques for transitioning between all sorts of genres: www.digitaldjtips.com/dj-courses/mixing-power-skills/
I play a variety of music styles... would it be an OK idea to use a Nine Inch Nails song, mixed into a NIN/50Cent mashup, then into a 50Cent song, to make a jump from one type of music to another...? Sooooo Much To Learrrrrrrnnnnnnn.....LOL
I want to be a dubstep DJ like Datsik, Excision and more (the fast and heavy US/Canada type, not the old UK trhing), and produce my own stuff, but I am really scared that there's too much of it, I don't really enjoy the popular mainstream tracks, i have my own library. I am kind of afraid that all of my tracks seem to have different genres or BPM (Dubstep which is sometimes 80 or 120 something, I forgot, but there's different BPM there). But BPM is not a big issue to me if the beats and the groove match.
