It's a beautiful set but even after your discounts, £5,500 is an almighty stretch. For most people that represents 2 months wages. Current Royal Mint prices are objectionable and so far detached from underlying gold spot price that it's no longer funny. I remember paying something like £430 for the 2017 200th anniversary proof sovereign. The latest Charles III proof sov is now £725 whilst bullion content is worth around £360 and that's just over the span of 6 years. The price ratio between proofs and spot is completely out of whack.
Yes the five coin set is definitely the one to have and hold. It’s a very special set for the coronation of King Charles III. Back in 1937 the mintage of the George VI specimen sovereign set was around 5,000, hence 5,000 £5 proofs. The King Charles III set limits the £5 coin at around 1,050. We won’t be seeing another coronation for a long time indeed and the five pound coin, and the £2 coin, with these mintage levels are highly desirable
Had I been a few years younger I would have taken the punt and got the 5 coin set, nice looking set for sure. The thing I like about Sovereigns is the variety of many years in dates different Kings & Queens various privy marks & sizes. No wonder Sovereigns are so fluid, thanks for sharing.
Got mine today, issue 650; like the presentation box and being able to put them at a 45 degree angle with the magnets, to nicely display them. Got them after seeing your previous video.
I agree that all the changing of the queen to the kings is a massive deal And if they don’t use his crown portrait again I think these will be worth something years down the line I got the four coin set and will just hold on to it Great video with great info Thank you
Great set! I’ll (probably) never buy gold proof coins because I’m more a stacker but those sovereigns really are something to cherish. I hope one day they appreciate to a value that makes the huge expense worthwhile!
I invest in gold coins (Sovereign's and Britannias) only for it's gold value, never spent extra money for the sake of collectable material. Wish you luck in your gamble though.
If you want the best stack full of world class coins... you have to buy the best and world class coins and that set of sovereigns is the best this world has to offer. If someone wants to part with such a set for less than issue price in the future then thats their prerogative and someone gets lucky purchasing it. As an investment you cant go wrong, every single coin and precious metal enthusiast dreams of owning such and those lucky enough to have spare investment capital at any given moment wil happily park it in such a beautiful and coveted set safe in the knowledge such prestige would attract buyers in any and all corners of the globe should the need to sell arise.
I'm at an impasse. Do you think the coronation half proof sovereigns will have any numismatic value in the future more or less so than the full proof sovereigns?
I think it was definitely worth it for you as you get a video out of it immediately which offsets some of the initial investment. The coin set is spectacular and I think it will make a profit. However, with coins with Charles's portrait, I don't think there will be any considerable profit until after his passing. Charles will not reign as long as his mother so his sovereigns will be scarcer. Especially this one since it may be the only sovereigns with the Tudor Crown. It's a special coin and will definitely be desirable with collectors. Unfortunately it is far outside my price range so I will have to settle for the BU sovereign. Thanks for sharing the set.
I have a gold sovereign that has the coat of arms on it i think.. a lion a shield and a unicorn, there is only 50 of them made is it worth anything I got stamps with it aswell ???
My 4 coin set arrived on Thursday which was quicker than expected and on first inspection with the naked eyes they look fine but upon viewing them with a magnifying glass, my double sovereign appears to have small chippings on the frosting, but like I say you won't notice them without the magnifying glass. Does anyone have the same issue? Is this acceptable in a proof coin or will this affect the resell value and I should ask for an exchange? I had same issue with a silver proof coins before but Royal Mint sent it back to me with a letter saying it looked fine. I didn't bother making a big deal on that coins but in this case, I am speeding a considerable amount of money and I'm not sure if some small chipping is considered acceptable or should a proof coin be 100% defect free?
just started my stacking journey Started with some full gold Sovereigns and silver 1 0z but with VAT and premiums over spot price silver does'nt look a good investment for Uk buyers price needs to double just to get your money back and triple to make any real gains 🤠
Like my own personal royal member, sometimes to really have fun you have to whip it out and have a good play! I'd use the posh gloves for this one. You can't feel anything behind the capsule and I'd like to have seen the actual coin in a video about coins, not coins stuck behind what is a functional but quite ugly capsule.
What a horribly BAD investment. Much better off buying the full sovereigns. Enjoy your title as soveriegn collector paying 5800 for 4000 dollars of gold coins. Nice fancy box though. lol

Regarding 5:27, we do know that the name of Saint George's horse was called "Bayard" and the name of Saint George's sword was known as "Ascalon".
That is a great set love the Quintuple Sovereign
Absolutely gorgeous indeed, could only get the 3 coin set myself which I hope arrives next week and looking forward it 🔥
Received my 5 coin set today in the USA from DHL....Stunning Set....Very Pleased

Very interesting presentation
I believe it a wise decision to purchase this set 💯

Got them after seeing your previous video.
Lovely
There are plenty of wealthy coin collectors out there of which £5k will be merely pin money.
Beautiful set! Hopefully I can get my hands on it eventually!
Still kicking myself for not getting a couple 2017 Pistrucci proofs because I thought they were too expensive. Enjoy the set man, it's beautiful!
I think it's a rock solid investment. And don't right off the value in the pleasure of owning a set like this
Nice collection…. I may have to flip a ton of silver to get my hands on one.
The presentation is deluxe

I think it's a great buy BYB and yes to the end too lol
I’m just getting one coin, should I get it graded by PCGS?

1050 minted and it’s sold out , a nice set to have for the years to come 👍
❤❤❤
So glad companies are cutting down on needless packaging , like a Russia doll a box within a box within a box within a box

great set, but I think the mintages are slightly too high at the moment with the royal mint!
Definitely agree I’m not touching this edition I have the SOTD Coronation that one is more valuable to me
Love the coins just couldn't stretch to the sets this time
coins look fantastic, is the display box and liner real wood or plastic (wood effect), bit of a shame if plastic.

Will there be a regular bullion version of this sovereign?
I have a gold sovereign that has the coat of arms on it i think.. a lion a shield and a unicorn, there is only 50 of them made is it worth anything I got stamps with it aswell ???
How did you get that when I'm still waiting for one of my Coronation coins to arrive! 😅 Lovely set though, thank you for sharing.

do you think the reason they have arrived early due to the cost and lack of intrest as we have had a lot of coins out
This 5 coin set is all sold out now.
I thought the new coins were going to be more pink due to the copper?
