Impossible! The Nobel Peace Prize is a political award for US hegemony, not about peace. It's decided by Norway, the country implicated in the Nordstrom bombing. Sachs as a consistent critic of US foreign policy and European inability to stand up to the US, will never be in the short list. The Nobel committee has too many bosses to please, the US being the most powerful one.

Prof. Sachs thinks like a man of conscience. But that's exactly why nobody listens, because people think politically in terms of party or some other friend/enemy distinction. Politics is different from prophecy, that's why in ancient Israel the prophets were independent of the king and priest. Politics is not the business of a man of conscience. It's the business of people like Biden or Trump and their voters. Politics is not a rational inquiry into ideal policy for an equitable economy. Politics is a contest between friends and enemies. Wherever there are friends, there are by implication outsiders. People protect their political friends before they openly recognize an outside view. Democratic politics is an electoral machine, not a democratic society. It's a game of crooks and genocidal politicians.

There is a straightforward way for understanding this impetus toward war.
In the early 1990s, leading American economists and businessmen decided that the United States should become a financialized economy whereby wealth is generated primarily via the manipulation of financial assets and the collection of rents (mortgages, land rent, licensing fees (e.g. intellectual property), transaction fees, utility fees, etc) rather than making real products that other countries would want to buy.
Getting rid of manufacturing (i.e. deindustrialization) also meant getting rid of the overhead associated with that manufacturing (buildings and equipment that depreciates, raw material costs, energy costs, etc.) and a corresponding increase in profits. This scheme seemed to work reasonably well as long as the United States was the sole global hegemon, which was true from 1991 to ~2017. This, of course, meant, that the wealth of the United States depended almost entirely upon maintaining “full spectrum dominance” (economic, technological, military, cultural) over all other countries (i.e. Wolfowitz doctrine).
This, of course, never made any sense and reality was eventually going to assert itself. Vladimir Putin resurrected the Russian state and made it “great again” to the consternation of the neocon globalists who wanted to dismember Russia into multiple smaller countries that would be easier to dominate. Xi Jinping consolidated Chinese political unity and refocused the Chinese economy on technological, industrial, economic and military growth. Other countries of the “Global South” (India, Brazil, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, etc.) are also growing their economies and challenging US hegemony.
Both Russia and China now threaten to disrupt US “full spectrum dominance” and, in so doing, are set to destroy American hegemony which would undermine and collapse the overfinancializd and deindustrialized US economy. Even if the US wanted to reindustrialize, it couldn’t because of the structural financial barriers put in place to optimize a deindustrialized economy.
The US can keep borrowing US$ 1 Trillion every 100 days to keep its deindustrialized economy afloat for only so long. When foreigners cease storing their wealth in US Treasury bonds because of excessive US public debt and/or fear that these bonds may be confiscated by the US government for political reasons, the US economy WILL implode abruptly. As the late economist Herb Stein put it: “Something that cannot go on forever will stop.”
Reconfiguring the US economy to adjust to this new reality would be tremendously disruptive, painful and politically intolerable. The ruling elite fully understand that they would lose power if they attempted to do what is necessary to reconfigure and rebalance the US economy so that it is competitive in the context of a strong Russia and China.
That is why the US Plutocracy and the Deep State are trying to maintain US “full spectrum dominance” via economic and military means. This isn’t going to work, China, Russia and the Global South are pushing back, and World War 3 will be the inevitable result.
    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Modern warfare is unbelievably cruel and destructive, but nobody (except for the Gazans) seems to understand that. If we don’t stop this disaster train now, the magnitude and duration of the suffering would be unimaginable.

I am not afraid as China and Russia do not, I repeat DO NOT threaten anyone. The U S. is paranoid by the threats which are generated within the dying brains of the United States of America. Look at our President who should represent our country. In order to be successful, you have to be educated and know your priorities of making Your Country to be strong facing any adversities. And what we have nowadays - a dying brain on a slow motion taking us all down. And DOWN we are going. This brain is the most dangerous as it is full of Hatred, Idiotism, Jealousy, Ego, Superiority and above all - Underestimating of Its Own Incapabilities. We do not have a chance to be The Rulers Of The World as much as we can dream of. That privilege belongs only to the Power Above Us All. Are you ready to fight against that Power?

The RMB is used to buy goods in China. Those goods are shipped to Serbia. They are sold for Serbian Dinars, which are then deposited into my coworker's account. Banks were involved in making the deposits (they didn't need to be, but they were), but the banks did not do any international transfers. The transfer of value occurred via the import of goods.

The wealthy Americans think they can ride out a nuclear war in the secure comfort of their underground bunkers. They will discover that they were wrong to place all their confidence in their million dollar bunkers because they will run out of food, water, and medicines. We just push the 3 leaf ☘ of St Patrick as a metaphor for Peace for all male and female inhabitants of this Planet.
We are all sick and tired of the divisions created by the "Elites" and their agents of death, destruction, doom and depression.

I really like Sachs on a range of issues, but anyone sounding an alarm on public debt fails to understand that all govt spending is a transaction for something and not driven by natl income. The argument should be about the "something" not the debt to income ratio. Also Japan has entered the chat.

It may improve the U.S. economy, taxpayers can only take on so much debt… giving out money to ever increasing demands from other countries. There are 8 billion people with their hands out for ‘flourishing’ money…..let them earn their own flourishing money and sustainable development goals!

This wonderful meeting frankie had with the Sultan, you should be aware that the Sultan was looking at frankie and remembering his Qur'an where Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) told us all in 5: 51
O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for your allies: they are but allies of one another and whoever of you allies himself with them becomes, verily, one of them; behold, God does not guide such evildoers.
A little bit of actual background gives you an idea of what we thought of the wonderful meeting that seems to have buttered your parsnips somewhat.
    So, great story bro.

Islam Palestine did not exist prior 700s. That territory was full of christians and Jewish. I really don't understand the Palestinian state obsession. That would not stop Hamas or inherent islam enmity with the Jewish. Palestina state is like having your enemy moving right next to you.
