I stayed here a few weeks ago for two nights in #20. It has a little stream next to the site. No AT&T cell service whatsoever but a peaceful campground.
We stayed in site 23. Originally, we reserved site 22, but couldn't get our travel trailer to fit in it. We have a 24 foot with 3 feet for the hitch. 23 was a nice spot. Be advised, this campground isn't really meant for big RV's. We were pushing it with a 24 foot one. The road which is 4 miles long from Highway 12 isn't too bad. A few times we had to almost crawl to avoid hitting large potholes in the dirt. Nights were actually cold and days were decent. We would stay here again. The camp host Mark, was nice and polite. Would see him cleaning and walking the campsites on a regular basis. Didn't like the fishing in the stream. The water was so rough, plus I really doubt you would catch anything.....maybe a small brook trout.
I'm not seeing one in this area. Here's one of several maps I checked: usfs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=893541070a6746d98aa59615eb7a8067&folderid=68b4a2618b594ad09c8fa40fba211ab8
The campground doesn't officially open until June 7th. The reservation site is a little difficult to navigate. Once you get to the correct month, use the buttons for "Prev 5 Days" or "Next 5 Days" and you will be able to see June 7. Only 1 site is reserved at this time.
Please do us a huge favor we picked up a new tent and it requires an 18 ft by 18 ft tent campsite. A lot of the campsites are only 14 ft by 14 ft at most! This makes a lot of campgrounds for us not feasible to even use! We went to railroad bridge on the Arkansas River It was a raised campground tent pad and it was 8 ft by 8 ft or tent would have had a very big bulge in the center of our tent. By one foot thick railroad ties. This is a major thing for us we're looking for campgrounds but the only ones that we found were newer in the past two or three years campgrounds that have been remodeled. Ridgeway State Park was one of the only places that had a big enough tent spot for us. This would be a huge thing in your you showing campgrounds on your UA-cam how big is the tent ⛺ spot Also we work in hospitality The only times we can go camping is before and after the normal camping season May 1st through the 14th. Is the only time we are able to ask for time off or just after the season closes and it's about ready to snow. September 11th Ridgeway is the last time we went camping. Also we do have handicap placards so that is a another thing to look at. Thank you I'm sorry to bother you! Keep up the good work!
That sucks. I always enjoy when we camp somewhere that has a friendly host. Especially if he's the kind of guy that loads the golf cart with firewood each evening and makes the rounds to see if anybody wants to buy a bundle.
The host is a jerk there. I had a toy hauler with a street legal motorcycle in it and this guy was all over me about unloading it and riding in the area. I told him it was street legal but he did not care. No motorcycles.
Thanks! You pulled into site #8 and that's the one we reserved.
Glad I could help! Have a great trip!
Just camped here! the fall foliage was spectacular! stayed in site 4. Hiked up the trail and it was great!
Lucky!!
Thanks so much for your videos!!

Always great to camp by a stream. Makes it easier to sleep
Can you say weather the campgrounds allow reservations or not ,otherwise I thoroughly enjoy your vids. Thanks
Looks like this was before we started including that info in the video description. I'll have to go back and add it to the early videos

Thanks for sharing your experience! Always good to have more info on trailer length.
is there a burn ban now

Thank you!! It absolutely beautiful up there.
Any idea why online reservations for the camp are not available until mid June?

Does this amount site have a host
Yes. Most forest service campgrounds will have a host
any takes on how busy it’ll be in early August? I’m debating between reserving an equestrian spot or risking it for a first come site
It has been very busy this year. If you arrive mid week, you have a good chance on a first come site. Not very good chance showing up on a Friday.

That's a huge tent! We have a 10 x 14 and struggle to find tent pads. A lot of times we have to set up in the parking pad and park in front of it
Stayed at this campground last year. The host was a jerk

New host Dusty he is super nice!

Hopefully he isn’t there this year
Maybe it's because other campers don't want motorcycles buzzing around the campsites. Be considerate of others.
