First of all it was written by Gary Valentine as kind of a parting gift for the band before he left. Or so I've always read. I think it's about Gary astral projecting to meet his levitating lover or something. Fecked if I know, but it's a great song! Plus it has cool words in it like REM and "theosophy."
Debbie looks breathtakingly beautiful.....but the band's timing sounds all over the place or is it the dodgy live sound quality. Love this clip though.
They were one of the original CBGB’s bands so practically by definition they are punk. To be played on American radio post the Sex Pistols tour you needed to be classified as New Wave.
What difference does it make what stupid bucket you put them in? Blondie never cared. They just made great music on their own terms and let fools debate silly things like that.
Blondie’s drummer was something else, never got the recognition his talent deserved
Did he get paid ?
Clem Burke was a rhythm monster!
Yes he did and always has
Clem Burke was one of the best drummers of his generation. This is a magical performance by Blondie, one of my favourite performances on the ogwt.
She had it all
Transports me back to a magical, punk, post punk era, when Debbie was a goddess !
Always...
One of my favorite Blondie songs actually. Have no idea what the hell it's about but I ♥️

Fantastic band, great live bands back then.
Back when bands could actually play live...
How bloody gorgeous is she
Superb takes me back to the mid/late 1970s.
I love watching Clem Burke drum.
This was their first appearance in the UK - brilliant
She had an awesome voice
Debbie , tellement belle .
I love Blondie!!!
Damn! Debbie is freaking hot!!!!
........and then God created Debbie !!!!!
Haha that's an old one but still soo true
…and glad He did!
Utterly brilliant
A Little bit faster than on LP, more aggressive sound. Top!
Classic. Thanks
I always though she was singing "Stay awake at night to catch your ambience". Ha!
clem is in the "secret stratosphere"
Beautiful Debbie
was then, am now, in love with Deb.
My god, I remember me and my friends thought they were too pop, madness eh? A cracking song 😜
Hot
Awesome!
Greatness ❤
great
Wasn't Blondie fantastic x
Hell, Franke Infante and Nigel Harrison held this all together,
I think Chris Stein's guitar playing is underrated. What do y'all think?
@JohnnyCxviii Im not a Drummer but i do too, he's really theatrical

The timing appears to speed up and slow down all throughout the song.
Same as the record
Clem was awesome but the band complained that he couldn’t keep time.
well, her or Siouxie...or poly styrene if you had a thing for braces ;)
Blondie were New Wave. They weren't considered Punk.
I was a big Debbie Harry fan back in the day. I had a life sized poster of her above my bed.
hs100 your poster was stained.
Whatever

@@btatwo yo pensé lo mismo jajaja that that póster was stained lol

Tutta la sua "strada" parla per lei.
Great life performance. Most of the times they lip synced
Well now you know they were great. Most groups lip synced back in 1970s on tv shows.
Old Grey Whistle Test was always live.
@@michaelmckenna7109 you really think it's some especial quality of Blondie that they're not miming on a programme that didn't use miming?
Paul mccourtney ? On Drum ?
Elvis Ramone ;)
AMG disagrees with your opinion.
