Kerry is a nice guy as well. I always wondered why people diss on Kerry? He was the one that started the band with Jeff. I just don't understand. I have been a Slayer fan from the beginning
I watch every clinic and every exodus or gary related video because it's my favorite guitar player and band. Can't wait for the next Exodus Record. Rick will be featered Gary said in one clinic.
Me too!!lol!, gary's still one of most underated guitarists in metal, he can riff and solo with the best of them, i was'nt too sure about the last exodus album, but after a week of it playing in my car, i love it!, glad steve is back with them..they sound better than ever!, age has'nt mellowed exodus, they seem to get more angry.....which is nice!, too many bands have wimped out as they get older. I think its time to roll a fatty and plug in the marshall. All the best to ya metal heads out there!
Yes it will be good. Gary will be writing the riffs instead of Kerry King, which means it will be killer and he wont be bogged down with Slayer drama. I love Slayer BTW, but when Jeff died, the riffs went with him.
Gary downplays his playing so much. He's humble and NORMAL. No ego or anything.....just a guy who loves metal. THAT makes him better than the rest!! MUCH LOVE HOLT!!
Gary is such an awesome man, I've met him once at an aftershock festival in Sacramento California, and he was just watching the festival, Exodus nor Slayer were playing the festival, and he was totally approachable, sincere and kind, I'd love to share a beer with him and shoot the shit about guitar with him.
At the Mayhem Fest here in San Antonio I think Gary walked right past me inside the building w the 2nd stage. I just zone out and dont focus on anyone else but i remembered seeing the same shirt and shorts on a white guy go by me into the back stage area. Was pissed at myself for not noticing.
Damn dude can fcking shred , and he’s a pretty damn decent guy , very modest, I like that he doesn’t have a huge ego , seems like a dude I would have fun drinking with lol
Gary did fuckin job after Jeff's death 👍🏻. with Exodus . He is really fuckin great rock guitarist 🎸. As aggressive as Jeff 😎. Also bout his tattoo , looks so good👍🏻 . Sign of Rock !!! ☝
I love his clinics but some people that show up are so fucking obnoxious, its like going to a slightly more polite metal show. Gary puts on a great clinic regardless.
Gary is so fucking cool. Too cool man. Just an awesome nice humble dude even though hes like the most crushing guitar player to ever hold a pick. What I would do to just shoot the shit with him. I hope I can meet him someday.
Honestly I'm disappointed of the questions these guys asked. I mean if you just have UA-cam, you can easily see most of them were already answered in previous clinics
This guy is just the best. Crazy good guitar player. Meat and potatoes metal. shredders are cool for what it is they do but guys like this are metal guitar players.
Why is everyone so obsessed by changing the big4? The big4 exists for a reason and it's fine as it is. Respect to Holt for not answering. However, honestly i'm not sure if he could answer even if he wanted to, i know i can't. I do support the big5 idea including Exodus though
Very cool, I enjoyed this entire video but man Gary's hearing is fried out big time! I'm telling you kids, you think its fun or cool to listen to loud music, it will come back and haunt you later for sure. I'm not at the point of Gary here but I've got some damage for sure from music, gigs etc.
Yeah I will also say Scott Ian is better than Hatfield in his prime. I was jamming some older Anthrax yesterday and was suprised at how much down picking it was and how fast.
Clint Norwood in fairness to James, he sings, so his brain activity is kinda split while his playing.... Had he been a pure rhythm player, he could've been the undisputed best
@DJ AND KERRI'S UFO it's not that hard man, just gotta keep the chops up, if you don't do it for a week you lose it haha, but plenty of other bands whose downpicking stuff is way more tiring than metallica
"i haven't played a note since last night so it will be genuinely shitty" well you are correct that was genuinely shitty. "i am not warmed up at all" really? you just played 1000 notes at the incredible speed of sound and you are not warmed up? i submit that this is as warmed up as you will ever get.
I can't imagine the amount of niceness combined when Gary and Tom Araya are together
Kerry would soon put a stop to that!
Araya goes along with that douche Kerry so I wouldn't consider him a nice guy!
@@tog2842 lol that's a fact
Kerry is a nice guy as well. I always wondered why people diss on Kerry? He was the one that started the band with Jeff. I just don't understand. I have been a Slayer fan from the beginning
He is a genuinely good dude.
Quite similar to how Dimebag was personality wise. A cool dude indeed...
Comes across o down to earth and approachable 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I watch every clinic and every exodus or gary related video because it's my favorite guitar player and band. Can't wait for the next Exodus Record. Rick will be featered Gary said in one clinic.
Cant wait either I saw that clinic where he mention Rick, awesome, too bad we got to wait till late 2019 early 2020 4 the next Exodus album
Yes that is far too long for me. But It will worth the wait if Gary says so.
@@ak_dennis cant fuckin wait .....i need new exodus

Incredible that a dude like this can still be nervous when playing in front of a couple of people. Met him multiple times, He’s a great dude!
Gary's riffs speak to me like no other thrash player. The tone and the Byzantine scales are the best. What a humble human being.
“I haven’t warmed up”. Then he shreds my face off! Love Gary!
I was there for that clinic it was such a great night and the weather was perfect.
Gary slays, thanks for posting this video.
Thanks for the post.
Metal will live forever.
God I hate it when someone’s “question” is requesting a pick lol
Lol yeah, like drummers asking about sticks. Waste of an opportunity...
That prob made that kids year.
I wish I had asked that question actually. I would really have liked to get a pick.
I would hate it too if I didn’t think of it first in this situation. You never know unless you ask right ?
"Jeff should be here" is the best part...
Gary downplays his playing so much. He's humble and NORMAL. No ego or anything.....just a guy who loves metal. THAT makes him better than the rest!! MUCH LOVE HOLT!!
Man, Holt has that same type of energy Dime brought. So fun and loving and genuine.
"Eventually DJs will die". You have my vote, sir.
He’s seriously one of the nicest guys very humble and does not act like a rock star. And kicks sooooooooo much ass for decades! 🤘
Taylor Wyatt holy shit that’s awesome! I saw him there in 2016 with slayer
One of the best metal guyz ever
thank you for filming the whole thing this is great
You’re very welcome! It was my pleasure, believe me! 😀
Definitely incredible musician. And the guitar is a bomb.
Is it a bomb, or the bomb? The two having very different connotations.
I just saw Gary for the first time last week playing with Exodus on a triple bill with Death Angel and Testament. He ripped, the show was amazing.
Love Death Angel!
Gary Holt equally fuckin' awesome as allways. Love him, he is one of my biggest idols as a musician and as a person
HOLT AWAITS!!! 🤘
Great dude... Zero ego
Gary is cool man, he seems down to earth !!!
I think this should be called Gary Bolt's clinic featuring ESP. Because obviously the audience is more interested in Gary's stories than ESP guitar.
Rendy Andrian Gary likes to talk more than play at these things.
Yo thanks for sharing this. Gary seemed actually humble and nervous, like a regular human being might be sitting alone in front of people.
Happy metalhead right there!
7:26 is all I gotta say
TheTillhammer 32 years later and still the greatest thrash riff of all time...
Holy shit, I lived blocks away from there and missed it!
You did. Everyone got a picture with him.
the best metal guy ever!
Gary Holt fucking rules 🤘
I like how they're basically using the plexi as a stand for that pedal lol, I think it's a power amp going from the kemper to the cab.
I was thinking the exact same thing bro...he has what...a 5 6 k stand and the Kemper behind it. That's funny.
such a charismatic dude!
I see a Kemper in the back ground.
I think he's just slaving the Kemper into the power section of the Marshall. Unless he's using a Powered Kemper 🤷🏽♂️
Such a friendly, down to earth dude, anda metal legend. Also, that black and red LP is fucking wicked! 🤘🤘
36:02 Hell yeah
I was there!
Seems like a nice guy. Great interview! :)
Haha we watch the same stuff
@@BrianFosterdrummer ❤️ You know it!

Hail Holt!🤘
Gary Holt rulz
Pantera tribute with Gary holt must happen
Manchester is waiting!!!!
Very down to earth... and we share the same name...ha
he is damn good player
Gary HOT!!!!!!!!!!

that tone tho

gregg4164 That shred thing usually sucks anyway. I'll take an oldschool Celtic Frost type riff any day over some boring arpeggio licks.
Cool guy
Somebody please give them audience fking mic
Nazareth! 🤘🏻💯
Waaahhj waaaahhh wssaaaaahhhh

What... No stack... Love SHKM!!!
Dave Bishop What does SHKM stand for?
Shovel Headed Kill Machine, one of Exodus' albums
"PBR" Fuckin hipster
A stack isn't really louder than a half stack anyway
Why did Gary's big 4 get edited out?
Ian Zayne He didn’t answer it anyway.
Hair of the dog shirt, fucking oath
Let's gather and go find the one thumbs down comment guy ...hahahahahahaah
not gonna lie that confederate flag looks pretty awesome as a profile pic
Your Varg pic is even better!
Are Gary and Phil demmel brothers but don’t know about it..
Does anyone know what wah pedal he uses?
Jerry Cantrell wah
Loved exodus since thorn in my side dude is criminal underrated
Repentless can’t be slayers last album, I’m sad
hmm, why was the big 4 question edited out?
It wasn’t. The camera accidentally turned off.
They cut it when the big 4 question came? What was his answer? 😊😊
Michael Henriksen he didn’t answer it.
+Rock and Roll Rebellion why?
If he left out say, Anthrax, he'd be throwing his friends under the bus, I would assume.
+Nick Wegener I think he'd put exodus instead of megadeth, he can't left out slayer, anthrax or kirk
I wouldn't pretend to know who he'd say. He made a point of not answering the question.
Exodus > Slayer
I still believe he is better than prime James Hetfield at rhythm, it's a no contest
@@nethbt yeah that isn't an easy tasks. I didn't consider that.
James sings and plays at the same time. James wins. No contest. Gary Holt kills, but he's a different animal than Hetfield.
@DJ AND KERRI'S UFO it's not that hard man, just gotta keep the chops up, if you don't do it for a week you lose it haha, but plenty of other bands whose downpicking stuff is way more tiring than metallica
Who is his "Big 4 Of Thrash"? It cut before his answer
Ikr... I NEED TO KNOW
same
He did not answer.
"i haven't played a note since last night so it will be genuinely shitty"
well you are correct that was genuinely shitty.
"i am not warmed up at all"
really? you just played 1000 notes at the incredible speed of sound and you are not warmed up?
