Hughes was all Heart … We keep a picture of him with kids in Hue City … He carried me over a mile in his arms after a crash and burn jump … A true parafrog-devil dog Saint 🤠👍🦅🇺🇸
I have always said that Marines are born, it’s something inside us that makes us different, you have to love the Corps because that is the only way we accomplish missions.
I Myself, John Rodriguez, AM familiar with Maj. Gordon R. Nash( CO of 1st Force Recon Company), and, Sgt. Rodney Tatseuo Nakashima ( H&S Comm Platoon Section Sergeant) while I Served in First Force, prior to My Cross Decking on over to the 3d Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment ( USASOC), but Sgt. Rob Hughes, " The Gentle Giant" of 1st Force Reconnaissance Company in Vietnam, was a Battlefield Badass and Beast.🦅🌎⚓🪂🤿🪖💣💥🇺🇸🇺🇲
I love how you will hear so much about Navy seals dive missions including a small 1 hour recreation of it where all they do is place a bomb on target. Then you got this guy no shit killed 2 people underwater and bit the throat out of guys neck ......... I need a documentary on this yesterday haha.
Since I first heard this, I’ve returned at different times to listen to this, this is around number ten. That being said, this is the first time I’ve thought about the horror of having to wrestle(no pun intended) with that memory and possibly living it over in nightmares later in life. I hope God spared him of that.🫡
I was in 1st force 67 and I knew many of the men in the dive team. I think I remember Hughes, but it was a long time ago. I do know many of the men in the photo. For more information on Force Recon during the Vietnam war go to: firstforcerecon.com
Hi Richard. I would really appreciate talking to you about your time in the 1st Force. I have a friend who served in the 1st with Hughes that you might have met.
Semper Fidelis 0331 Marine Machine Gunner. I was 0352, TOW anti-tank guided missile gunner from March 1986-October 1993. Thanks for your service and sacrifice my friend!
Wheeler Baker. You have to meet him. They probably said "Hooo-ya, motherfucker" to each other. That stands for racial equality when schwacking hateful enemy.
What a story! The fact he spit out his oxygen regulator and bit down on the enemy’s throat is not what I expected at all. Absolute unit and killing machine. God bless him. Semper Fi
Politics. We had the people to win it with. People like Hughes, and other names like Benevidez, Beckwith, Simon's, Meadows, Norris, Chappy James, Robin Olds, and many unnamed others. Politicians needed to get out of the way.
How do you fight for a country that wants to lynch you? Especially in the 60s. I am a veteran, so I guess when it came my turn I enlisted. I guess I wasn't as conflicted as I always thought I would be.
I recognize your name Greg from the patrol reports! I wish the author of the video gave the source of this story ... It too should be documented in the reports.
God bless Sgt Hughes and his team for what they did in Vietnam. I've never heard of a Marine Corps dive team. Simply impressive. Thanks for sharing.

It is an injustice that this man did not get the CMH for this.

Why is the story Bs
