@@coleengoodell7523 I live in Mississippi and I agree with you about the water table. Also the type of soil or Yazoo clay we have is constantly shifting. Basements here are very rare
A room with concrete/steel reinforcements could be built into or next to any home that would be tornado proof, in fact many all concrete homes are built along the coast where hurricanes are common.
@ disagree there’s zero excuse from building with basements what you suggest isn’t sensible with the already known weather patterns of too many generations of tornadoes especially those clicking in as F4-5

The water table is too high for many southern state homes to have basements.
