The original jack3d was the reason I stopped taking preworkouts, that shit was so insane lol - the workouts were great but god it would last the rest of the night and I could never sleep, good times lmao
Bro, I worked at GNC back around 2010... it's unreal what's allowed, or what was at least when I was engulfed in that worle. It's so crazy to me that they can make something new, have zero data on how it affects people and then only remove it from the shelves AFTER people get hurt or die. I can't tell you how many times a product would come out, people absolutely love it... then a year later it's removed because it caused internal bleeding and crap. To anyone reading, never assume something is safe just because it's on the shelf. AND just because something works, sometimes really well... doesn't mean it's worth it. Know what's in the things you consume. Take ownership of it.
That’s crazy I remember my friends taking 10 pills before a workout and I only tried it once after that I wanted just creatine cause it was the only thing I could trust.
Your message at the end, does a lot of sense and is a call of awareness for everyone who goes to the gym for health but yet they are not doing anything about their sleep pattern and mental health that you need an extra substance to help you achieve what you can naturally do.
Most people that you find strength training aren't there for health, but to look better. If your muscles wouldn't grow and you would look exactly the same with or without strength training, 95% of people would not bother showing up.
I think the reason most people (including me) take pre before they train is not necessarily due to a lack of sleep, but more so due to the fatigue that's built up throughout a working day. My shifts are 12 hours long behind a desk (not 5 days a week but a more unique shift pattern) and I feel exhausted when I get home, but I enjoy lifitng so in order to actually get through 45 minutes of training I need a boost.
As someone watching this way to late at night and with mental illnesses I need but don’t have medication for I feel attacked. I’m a tri-athlete to so caffeine is a necessity and I drink WAY to much. Like 600-800mg a day and recommend dose is 400 😂 in seriousness I am getting help and medication for my problems soon so hopefully that helps
Ngl, exactly how I felt the first and last time I took pre workout. I prefer to rawdog the gym. Sometimes if I really need extra energy ill have a cookie for some quick carbs.

yes, but the amount in multivitamins is tiny compared to niacin baased pre-workouts, and usually in multivitamins it's in the form of niacinamide, not regular niacin.
Here in Delhi India during mid 2000s I used Universal Shock Therapy. It was imported & no locally made pre workouts were available. I have sweet memories of workouts with my old gym frisnds with this drink. Im 42 now & still miss it. 20 gram serving it had & insane skin tearing pumps & focus. 💪👍🏽👏🏽💪🏽

This was absolutely hilarious and well done. I'm 38 now, but I very clearly remember the days of the NO-Xplode and Jack3d OG formulas. There was nothing like having zero motivation to train after a long day of college classes or work and throwing a couple scoops of that stuff in a shaker and sipping on it for the 15-20m drive to the gym. When you left your house you were dragging yourself into the gym through pure will power and by the time you got there and the pre-workout was in your system, the motivation was through the roof and training was no longer a chore, it was a necessary inevitability lol. It completely changed your frame of mind. Eventually though, I got sick of the intra-workout anxiety, dry mouth, racing heart, and Xplodes in the gym bathroom... This was before fitness trackers/watches, but I can't imagine where my heart rate was. These days it's just a small coffee/caffeine pill + a few caps of a basic L-Arginine/L-Citrulline combo. It's simple, quick, cheap, and effective. It gets the job done, but it's definitely not like the prior days of 2 scoops of OG NO-Xplode/Jack3d and having the feeling of wanting to run through a brick wall.
Ha were the same age, its no wonder both those pre works outs were so popular. I can't believe I accidentally did methamphetamine on a regular basis for like two years but hey the energy was fuckin no joke .... And I wouldn't be mad about finding a tub of either somewhere in my parents house
NO-Xplode was my first pre-workout and Jack3d OG was the second. Though, I got many early PRs with NOX, Jack was a different beast. I didn't do any research on the ingredients back then, but I never felt any out of the proportion symptoms with heart pump, shortness of breath, etc. I continued to take Jack until one time I couldn't get a hold of it anywhere i.e. the ban time. USP labs had a fat burner, OxyelitePro, and I know all now will say that fat burners are scam, but I got good results with it. I do not use any branded pre-workout now. I get raw materials from Bulksupps, etc. and adjust doses based on goal for a specific session.
the original formula of NO-Xplode, in the early 2000s, it was something sent from the gods. I remember being 20, in 2005 and being cracked out of my mind in the gym. My body was the same color as the PWO container and I was doing cartwheels between sets. I miss that feeling!
My husband and I watch your videos religiously. I love the recipes I've seen you make. I've said a few times that one day I want your recipe book. My husband surprised me with an early birthday gift with your book. I squealed with excitement! I can't wait to try them all. My husband has struggled with gaining weight and muscle but with your help has been achieving those goals. I have always struggled with my weight. You have inspired me with healthy recipes and and to begin weightlifting for the first time in my life. You are incredibly funny and an inspiration to both of us. 😊
One of my biggest regrets as a young dude in the gym was about 12 years ago when I used to order pre workouts online (typically NO XPLODE) I would get samples from random companies. The one that fucked me up the most was "Muscletech" branded I'm not even sure it was a full serve, within 20 minutes, I had blood shot eyes, heart palpitations and probably the closest i've ever been to a full blown panick attack. the heart palpitations lasted for 8 hours. Look after yourselves
Ive started working out lately. I was tired of looking in the mirror hating how i looked and then immediately going back to being lazy and eating junk. Will has motivated me and helped me figure out whats healthy and not healthy. I watch him everyday and seeing him have these cheat days and still being fit has woken me up to realize i dont have to starve myself and work out 8 hours a day to keep fit. Its about choosing smart and watching portions while staying active
This is great, I wish you put a snip of the final lecture at the start for those that didn't make it. "If you need pre, what's not right? Get your sleep, hydration and focus in order"
Great video man. I respect the fact you tried all those psychotic supplements but the message at the end couldn’t be more clear. An extra boost like coffee is needed sometimes but mental clarity and discipline is always key. Thank you.
Been gyming for over a decade, I look great compared to similar natties the gym and have never regularly taken pre-workout. It’s absolutely not necessary, the only supplement I think necessary for bodybuilding is obviously proper nutrition, protein through food don’t even need supplements for it.
I think it's also important to mention that caffeine is a vasoconstrictor (it also causes you to excrete more electrolytes leading to dehydration). So although it can help increase heart rate, energy and focus, if you are after the best pump it actually works against you. That is why most preworkouts add a vasodialator in order to counteract it. It's basically like any prescription medication, you start having to add things to counteract the side effects of the thing was supposed to fix the original problem. That's why you end up with 100 ingredients. Btw for context, I love (am addicted to) caffeine.
I'm now subscribing....I'm a trainer myself and usually most online guys don't try/test/talk about and review what we use, what's being done and how it affects us. this was a good vid. (sidenote OG jack3d....was GOLD!!!!)

Original NO Xplode and Super Pump 250 were wild. Make you want to rip your car apart on the way to the gym. You can't get those ingredients in the main stream pre's anymore.

@@BenHall289 Its not really about a need most people would just rather have a boost. For me caffeine doesn't effect me in the first place so I just drink energy drinks for taste and usually after a work out not before.
@@WhatsIQ fair enough I guess I’m old school. I don’t eat or drink ultra processed foods and if I have felt I needed a boost then a banana or two has always done the trick. Footballers (soccer) always used to have half time oranges for second half energy.

Hell yeah! I was still in high school still weighing 125-130lbs. End of the year I was around 165-170! I only took the original Jack3d around Twice a week whenever I felt too lazy to work out, it put my ass right back in gear.
I used to take original DMAA jack3d, then run the 400m and 100m at high school track meets. Some people died taking it before running, but I guess I was just too anabolic for it to get me.
My favorite original recipe was SuperPump 250 (Gaspari). I’d take it at my desk, start flushing and I then my arms would swell like I just released a bunch of insulin. I had swollen veins and hadn’t even picked up a weight yet :). It was great. Then they changed it. Original BSN NOXplode was decent for me. Jack3D (again, original) was the only pre workout I ever threw away after the first try. Took at at the gym, worked out and left it at the gym. It turned my head into soup. Today’s market is not so fun, but there are a few good ones: Total War, Nitraflex, BuckedUp.
Great video bro... really helpful. I take "edge of insanity" and "Hyde extreme" I remember back in the day taking NO explode and "redline" when the formulas were just off the charts. Imma try jacked. Stay blessed and humble bro. 🤙
Amazing video mate, cheers. I'm on my 3rd year lifting some weights and never tried pre workout. I was having only coffee. In the last year I gave up coffee because I couldn't feel it anymore and now im going to the gym 5am after 8h of sleep and I feel amazing.
Contained N-Alpha-DEPEA , structurally very similar to methamphetamine . Milder effects though . Craze and excelsior are the strongest pre workouts ever , OG jack3d not fare behind
Coffee def is one of the best natural pre-workout drinks u can have. I used to just take 8-10oz of espresso coffee no milk straight black and drink it all at once. You don't sip it like ur at Starbucks u down the whole thing lol. I usually also added few teaspoons of cane sugar to help with the bitterness of the black coffee
Anabolic Angel 10/10 I appreciate the science happening here. You are spot on about people using bandaids and crutches instead of changing factors they have more direct control over

Some of the Pre-workouts you mentioned I've tried and they are way too strong for me!! And when I think about the cost, regular coffee is still the best ! On a heavy cardio day I may try beetroot with some beta alanine! Excellent video! Thanks
I’m a big non stim pre guy. I feel SO much better with low to no stim. If i need something, I’ll do ghost gamer or ghost burn at 1 scoop for 150mg caffeine and some nootropics. Pumps are FAR better with no stims and i don’t have to worry about a crash or being kept awake at night. I much prefer things that enhance performance rather than just tweaking
Ephedrine was legal until around 2005. My university sold pure Ephedrine at its' health center, 100 tabs for $5. I went to the University of Wisconsin, the third largest college in the country with 50,000+ students. Every guy I know was taking it. We took it to stay up to study and also to combat the effects of alcohol...you could drink a ton and not get tired. Women at my school took it to lose weight. The pure ephedrine melted weight and fat off of you. I knew girls in my dorm that lost 10-15 lbs. without working out. The stuff was amazing.
In The UK you can still get Pseudoephedrine from cold sinus tablets. A similar thing but I I'm not sure if you can get that in the US because people would make crystal meth from it
Dark Energy. It had both DMAA and DHAA. Only time in my life a pre workout affected me negatively ever. It’s now banned but iykyk. I liked this type of video! More than just workout, it was informative, historical, and combined with weightlifting I was in love and it kept me wanting more. Like my pre workout. Great video
Its not the job of the government to ban anything, rather to regulate and inform. But I do agree, it was the only time in my life I ever vomited from a preworkout.
I have never used pre workout before and was very much against it for myself until I tried it for the first time. I get really bad pms symptoms, one of them being chronic fatigue. It doesn’t matter how healthy I eat, how much sleep I get or how much I manage my anxiety, I just don’t have the same energy levels as I usually do. It doesn’t happen every month, definitely has improved since i started working out, but when it does it can be like that for 2 weeks before my cycle even starts. Pre workout helps that so I don’t have MASSIVE breaks all the time. Definitely NOT for every workout, tbh I can see myself using it like 3-4 times a month before my cycle. I’m also super sensitive to caffeine so I don’t even need a full scoop. I think there is instances where it can help when it’s used responsibly.
I tried pre-workout once and felt like my heart would jump out of my chest and my thoughts were scattered. Never gone back, I should add I don't drink hot drinks or caffeinated drinks usually so probably have a poor tolerance for such
For me, pre-workout is the equivalent of hype music. It’s just that little tingle and uptick of energy that tells my brain, “you’re about to go wreck some sh!t” No matter what my energy level WAS, it gets me back to a standardized level when I’m walking into the gym. But for real, good video. You made great points 👊🏼

Ultimate Orange ! The orginal was crazy! You had such intense focus!
0:06 meanwhile me going to the gym without pre-workout AND never eating tacos with salsa..
If you need to pump yourself full of caffeine and other chemicals to have a good workout it’s fair to say the gym probably just isn’t your thing.
@@BenHall289 energy drinks aren't an ultra processed food though there's really no downside to them apart from if you suffer from severe anxiety
@@WhatsIQ Ultra processed foods are any food that have one or more ingredient that you wouldn’t find in a home kitchen. I’ve never seen an energy drink that isn’t ultra processed. Preservatives, artificial sweeteners, emulsifiers, e numbers etc. I’d recommend a podcast called the Zoe science and nutrition podcast for the latest findings in nutrition, there’s a whole episode on UPF’s

Lack of caffeine. Those old heads had cocaine

the best pumps of my life on the original jack3d.
Can’t forget about Ripped Fuel from the late 90’s. That and hydroxycut .
Superpump 250 was gold
Truth
Yes, that was the best!
From 10:47 onward that Red 40 started kicking and let a little bit of that "special" strength out. 😂😂😂
Pre workout makes me feel way worse
You just aren't doing the right ones. Try a non stim like gorilla mode nitric
@@bigboicremeOr just don't take any of that toxic shit
@@RafBeanah yes, all those toxic….vitamins
The original formula of NO-Xplode was the game changer for me. I've been chasing that pump ever since
The new is not as effective ? . They get 2 more pre work out ?
The OG Jack3d formula was insane!!! I remember that it was like restart the day, despite the work Hours, muscle tired…
Yea. You didn't want to stop working out.
Babe wake up, Will Tennyson dropped a video!
Anyone remember CRAZE by Driven Sports? That shit was WILD
The best!
Yes dude, craze was absolutely nuts 😂 so sad I probably won't be feeling like this ever again
That was the best ever
it was basically just amphethamine.
He looks like if Mickey Mouse was granted a wish to become human and i can‘t unsee it
Thats hilarious
Loool I seee it 😂
I think he looks like the IT clown without the makeup.
More like Pinocchio before his nose grows
Now thats funny!!!! 😅
The message at the end is actually super important I love it
The Analogies you come out with kill me 😂
Thanks for the everlasting advice Will, you've helped a lot in my fitness journey.
6:15 lmaooo that was a great edit
Anabolic Angel 10/10
I appreciate the science happening here. You are spot on about people using bandaids and crutches instead of changing factors they have more direct control over
8:20 gas🤣🤣
“Coffee and cocaine, which I think is underapprecia- whatever…”😂😂😂. Will’s little slips and edits are the greatest there are on UA-cam. Also, can you do a video trying to do a day as a kosher keeping person? If you need details on how to do that, just reply to this.
10:07 NO-explode have me a wicked headache when 15 year old me took a heaping scoop. It sent my ass running straight back into the arms of C4.
Best preworkout is a new Will video. About to hit a Push day 💪
Some of the Pre-workouts you mentioned I've tried and they are way too strong for me!!
No need to change this thumbnail Will, very capturing.
A similar thing but I I'm not sure if you can get that in the US because people would make crystal meth from it
@@172louisyou can still get it in the US, it’s just kept behind the counter at pharmacies. They check your ID before you buy it.
@@172louiswe can, it’s just behind the pharmacy counter and they ID you for it. But no RX required.
@@172louis you can still get pseudoephedrine in the US. I've never had a stimulant effect from it. Yet again I've never taken it when I wasn't sick.
You can still get straight ephedrine , just go grab some bronkaid or primatene tablets
Love the “Caucasian castle burger” and the green bag for gas 😂 subbed just for the hilarious references
The original Jack3D was insane
There is better on the market if you know where to look (:
@@Tailioniswhere!? Please share lol. I can order anabolics but not preworkout!

will always has such fun video ideas I wish he’d upload even more frequently tbh
My pre workout is doing a few sets that gets me going! 💪
Are you redefining reality? That's a warm up, not a preworkout.
There was nothing like the early 2000s pre workouts. The original No-xplode made my arms feel like they'd literally explode. I, for one, loved it. 💥
The 2 min ted talk at the end was really helpful Thanks...
you have such a great personality, cant stop watching your videos! Thank you
Its the hair. Chicks like the hair.
the original jack3d scoop was less than 1/4 size of that scoop if i could remember, and thats all you needed!
I have covid bad right now and your videos keep me living brother much love from chicago
Is that still a thing these days?
@@isjdj3293 yeah bro different versions keep coming out lol it kicked my ass this time on my lungs but im recovering now thank god.
Will…. that Johnny Sins reference had me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow, that NOxplode brings back memories to being in middle/high school 02-05 and having all that stuff with the boys working out😂
It’s my cheat day today and I love watching videos whilst eating. PERFECT TIMING 🍩🔥
I take pre-work because I have to lift in the morning before work. It's very hard to have good energy that early in the morning without it
That's my reasoning/excuse too!
Same!
Probably means you have bad quality sleep and/or alot of stress.
Bro, that Johnny Sins reference was hilarious
😂😂😂
i have GYAT to see all ur videos will
I have never used pre workout before and was very much against it for myself until I tried it for the first time.
"old" recipe jacked was crazy. there were days i went to the gym.. played with myself for a few hours and went back to the gym
You played with yourself in the gym?
