Your message at the end, does a lot of sense and is a call of awareness for everyone who goes to the gym for health but yet they are not doing anything about their sleep pattern and mental health that you need an extra substance to help you achieve what you can naturally do.

Most people that you find strength training aren't there for health, but to look better. If your muscles wouldn't grow and you would look exactly the same with or without strength training, 95% of people would not bother showing up.

I think the reason most people (including me) take pre before they train is not necessarily due to a lack of sleep, but more so due to the fatigue that's built up throughout a working day. My shifts are 12 hours long behind a desk (not 5 days a week but a more unique shift pattern) and I feel exhausted when I get home, but I enjoy lifitng so in order to actually get through 45 minutes of training I need a boost.

This was absolutely hilarious and well done. I'm 38 now, but I very clearly remember the days of the NO-Xplode and Jack3d OG formulas. There was nothing like having zero motivation to train after a long day of college classes or work and throwing a couple scoops of that stuff in a shaker and sipping on it for the 15-20m drive to the gym. When you left your house you were dragging yourself into the gym through pure will power and by the time you got there and the pre-workout was in your system, the motivation was through the roof and training was no longer a chore, it was a necessary inevitability lol. It completely changed your frame of mind.
Eventually though, I got sick of the intra-workout anxiety, dry mouth, racing heart, and Xplodes in the gym bathroom... This was before fitness trackers/watches, but I can't imagine where my heart rate was.
These days it's just a small coffee/caffeine pill + a few caps of a basic L-Arginine/L-Citrulline combo. It's simple, quick, cheap, and effective. It gets the job done, but it's definitely not like the prior days of 2 scoops of OG NO-Xplode/Jack3d and having the feeling of wanting to run through a brick wall.

NO-Xplode was my first pre-workout and Jack3d OG was the second. Though, I got many early PRs with NOX, Jack was a different beast. I didn't do any research on the ingredients back then, but I never felt any out of the proportion symptoms with heart pump, shortness of breath, etc. I continued to take Jack until one time I couldn't get a hold of it anywhere i.e. the ban time. USP labs had a fat burner, OxyelitePro, and I know all now will say that fat burners are scam, but I got good results with it. I do not use any branded pre-workout now. I get raw materials from Bulksupps, etc. and adjust doses based on goal for a specific session.

My favorite original recipe was SuperPump 250 (Gaspari). I’d take it at my desk, start flushing and I then my arms would swell like I just released a bunch of insulin. I had swollen veins and hadn’t even picked up a weight yet :). It was great. Then they changed it. Original BSN NOXplode was decent for me. Jack3D (again, original) was the only pre workout I ever threw away after the first try. Took at at the gym, worked out and left it at the gym. It turned my head into soup. Today’s market is not so fun, but there are a few good ones: Total War, Nitraflex, BuckedUp.

Hell yeah! I was still in high school still weighing 125-130lbs. End of the year I was around 165-170! I only took the original Jack3d around Twice a week whenever I felt too lazy to work out, it put my ass right back in gear.

Huge pop when I seen the Jack 3D. Pre workout is a holy ritual in this house. 3 huskies and a toddler and shiftwork. We love trying different pre workouts, and the gods used to give us the OG Jack 3D. Enjoyable video Will. Keep it up.

The original Jack3d was the GOAT. Insane increase in motivation and strength with mere seconds of fatigue between sets. Felt like my arms, legs and back was about to burst from the pump aswell. Got the sweats in the locker room even before the workout. The crash that came after a few hours was no joke tho. I miss this PWO to this day!

N.O.Xplode was the 1st real prework out for me when I was in my early 20s around 2005. My body got immune to it pretty quick, I was taking 3 scoops for each serving just to feel the effects of when I first tried it, 2mnths into taking it. I currently am using Defcon1 high stim pre workout from Anabolic Warfare. I'll put it right next to Psychotic pre workout, or even next to Gaspari's new pre- workout for comparison. I do only use pre workouts on my training days and won't use them if I ever had to work out at night. I also stop using pre workouts once I reach my goal in the gym and continue working out without them. Good video, I like it

Coffee def is one of the best natural pre-workout drinks u can have. I used to just take 8-10oz of espresso coffee no milk straight black and drink it all at once. You don't sip it like ur at Starbucks u down the whole thing lol. I usually also added few teaspoons of cane sugar to help with the bitterness of the black coffee

Been gyming for over a decade, I look great compared to similar natties the gym and have never regularly taken pre-workout. It’s absolutely not necessary, the only supplement I think necessary for bodybuilding is obviously proper nutrition, protein through food don’t even need supplements for it.

Bro, I worked at GNC back around 2010... it's unreal what's allowed, or what was at least when I was engulfed in that worle. It's so crazy to me that they can make something new, have zero data on how it affects people and then only remove it from the shelves AFTER people get hurt or die. I can't tell you how many times a product would come out, people absolutely love it... then a year later it's removed because it caused internal bleeding and crap. To anyone reading, never assume something is safe just because it's on the shelf. AND just because something works, sometimes really well... doesn't mean it's worth it. Know what's in the things you consume. Take ownership of it.

    Hi Will,
    Hope you are doing well?
I am after some advice, I am 41 and since 2019 I have been trying to get into shape as I weighed 327 lbs.
Been watching a lot of your videos and have learnt a lot about technique, new types of lifts and nutrition so thanks it has been a great help as your personality and sense of humour make it even better.
I saw what you said about pre workout in your last video and wondered is there something you recommend to sip on throughout the workout for energy? I am struggling a bit with my energy levels and it is not affecting me finishing my session but feel there could be more to come.
Again thanks for all the advice in your videos and congratulations on getting married 🎉💪🏻
    All the best
    Martin

Niacin was more for pre stage, competitors to flush you and bring vascularity when you're low fat and water. I used to sell supps and Ultimate Orange was the first pre-workout, previous to that BBs used Caffeine with ephedrine in tablet form. After Ultimate Orange, If memory serves, the next actual pre-workout marketed as such was NO-Explode. Than 1-MR not long after and the market went nuts but Jacked 3D I can't remember if it was before or after 1MR. Both were amazing when they could put the 1-3 D in it.

I took DMAA a few times. I had a good workout in the beginning and later that evening I did legs while on it. I was able to hit 25 reps of squats non stop. After my heart was racing so fast. Couldn't catch my breath. Thought i was going to have a heart attack that day. Chest felt tight. Went to a cooling area. My body was sweating like crazy. Never took preworkout with DMAA ever since. Even the next day felt like someone stab me in the back through my chest
