This was really useful. Thanks. I havent been camping in well over a decade and I used these things called Poles! I've now upgraded to air for my first trip in ages and this was a great video showing me the guidlines on setting up. I had a question at 4:00 I may have missed the answer to. Is the peg angle 90 degrees to the tent/guideline? or 90 degrees to the ground?
Groundsheet pegs at 90 deg.(it was 45deg you were inserting them at) then guy ropes at 45 deg. That was an impressive 360 deg turnaround. Otherwise great work and very informative.

I have two questions 1 does the gray flap on the porch go out or in the tent? 2 I have one air beam that is a little bent? See photos attached 26:24

With our first ever camping adventure about to happen in a couple of weeks, I’ve today just put up, then taken down our brand new 6 person air tent this afternoon as a trial run, after watching your excellent video. Thanks for the great demo, it made a daunting task easy and pretty quick. From scratch, including laying the footprint, it took me 45 minutes, first time ever. I reckon I’ll do it in 20-30 minutes next time. Great video, thanks for posting!
Thank you so much for ur awesome Videos including tips n tricks to avoid being stressed out with pitching! Ur clips, the chillout music choice (and ur cute dog) actually helped me best to calm down during quarantine having something to look forward to. Since I'm from Germany its not so easy to drop by. But this is definately a reason to consider a trip to the UK again 😄 Wish u all the best. Take care. Stay healthy. U GUYS ROCK!
This is a really good video mate thank you very much for taking the time to do it I’ve just ordered Berghaus 6XL and wasn’t sure how to set it up, this has been a great help, so thank you 👍
I'm new to camping with these big family tents, I've actually not been camping in a tent for 15 years. I've recently bought a 6 man air tent and we done a trial pitch the other week. I have a really amateur question to ask but I'm worried I do it wrong and break my tent. My question is. When putting the pegs, the straps have plastic ring attached and a looped end on the material. When putting the pegs in, do you peg the plastic loop or the lopped material?
@@leisurequest it’s a common question we get asked and it depends on the tent but as a rule of thumb you want to peg the plastic loop, not the material as often the material is used to tension the pegging point.
You are brilliant, I bought my berghaus air 4 after watching this and made my life so simple to then put up and down by myself, as a girl as well. Also if you can comment on how the air 4 has the porch attached would be great, I'm sure it goes on the side door but no instructions or videos on this! Thanks again for all you great videos! x
Unfortunately I’m not overly familiar with how the berghaus tents awning attached but I would imagine it fits on the side and relays on guyropes to hold the material over the top of the tent.
Hey, I've got a separate groundsheet for my porch, silly question but should that be pitched in the beginning when the main groundsheet is place or once the porch is up? Thank you
Thanks for being so thorough. I just purchased an Easy Camp Hurricane 500 airbeam tent on a closeout special from an online camping goods dealer in the USA, and it was very helpful seeing your video. Easy Camp does not have a video on how to pitch my model; the instructions sewn into the bag don't have any photos, and they don't supplement them with more thorough printed instructions. Your video really helps! One comment: the pump you used in this video looks very similar to the one that came with my Easy Camp. The hose on my pump is not very flexible: in fact, after inflating the third and final airbeam, the hose cracked. The plastic seems not very flexible. I wrapped it with electrical tape as a temporary repair, but I'm going to get more flexible hose and connect the ends of the original hose to that with some radiator hose clamps and rubber sealer. What has been your experience with that pump/hose?
I would always pitch the tent first, the add any extension in afterwards, that way you can make sure the tent is pitched correctly before starting the extension.
Hi love the instruction, just having problem with one of the beams inside. It inflated fine first pitch and when we moved to another site, one of the beams is just not inflating. Put it all down and started again, checked everything was closed, no leaking either. Where are we going wrong please?
David Edwards the doors needs to be open to allow the air to get inside the tent but when you come to peg the tent out properly, you need the doors shut to make sure you don’t distort the fabric.
That is correct, it is because Kampa tents have a one way valve, so there is no back pressure for the gauge to work. So you’ll only get a reading while physical pumping.
Putting up an inflatable tent tends to be easier even in windy conditions, because you peg the main corners of a tent first the tent is then secured down. This means regardless of how bad the weather is the tend isn't going anywhere. You can then pump the beams up at your own leisure and if needed peg the guyropes as you go. The issue with a pole tend is that you have to feed the poles and then fight against the wind to stand them up (with two people) and connect the ring and pin system. Hope this helps.
Thanks for replying. I've been using a Sunncamp Evolution 400 for years now and its been to loads of festivals as well as ordinary camping in that time. Although there is nothing wrong with it i've been eyeing up these air tents and because ive been thinking about retiring my old tent. One concern was the wind and the others are punctures and leaks. Are they tough enough because i can imagine it would be a nightmare to find a tiny pin hole in a deflating tube while camping. How would or even could they be repaired out in the field? I know it's a lot of question but these things aren't cheap compared to ordinary tents. Peace
Not a problem, Inflatable tents tend to use thicker and more robust fabrics so that you can have a longer lifespan. Most brands like Vango give you a mini puncture repair kit so you can repair the beam on site if needed, alternatively you can purchase a spare as a back up. There is normal three layers to the beams, 1 the PVC bladder, 2 the sleeve that the bladder sits in and 3 the zip compartment of the tent. So this means it well protected. The principle of repairing a beam/tube is no different to a bike tyre, you can unzip the beam, get down to the bladder but a self adhesive patch/tape on the issue and insert it back into the tent or replace the whole bladder is needed. You do get more condensation in inflatable tents than you do with poled tents but then you will find that there is normally more ventilation panels to combat that but again inflatable tents tend to have a higher waterproof rating than poled tents so they should be more waterproof. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give me great information. If i bought the 4 the four man version of the Kampa Brean Air would do you stock the spare bladders or would i have to get in touch directly with Kampa. I'm thinking of picking a spare up at the same time just to be on the safe side. Brushing soapy water over an air tube to find a leak in the chucking down rain doesn't sound like a fun time to me lol. There are some undesirables at festivals that enjoy wrecking other peoples stuff. One festival i went to a few years back a lad went up a row of tents slashing them with a stanley knife just to be an arse. If anyone found it funny to stick a needle or something in one of the beams i think you would agree having a spare would be ideal. Swap it over and then i will still have my tent standing while looking for the hole to repair on the other one. Anyhow i've waffled on enough so once again thanks for all your help and patience. Peace
The process is exactly the same for a Polycotton Tent, sometimes Polycotton tents will have slightly large tubes, so in this instance it might require a bit more pumping.

Have you owned and used one to be publicly stating that they are going to be crap? Pegs going at 45° so between tie down/line and peg it creates a 90° angle..

A summers day with not a hint of a breeze, now imagine if you will a soggy, wet damp grass, a howling raging gusty wind or worse raining heavily, where you sit there in the car talking to your partner wondering why you chose a wet week in wales and not a week in Tenerife?
Not fast enough
He was explaining as he was going, hence the time it took.
Not convinced this is easier or less time consuming than a poled tent
poles tents take me around 20 to 30 minutes to set up
HOW MANY TIMES ARE THE STAKES GOING TO BE RIPPED OUT OF THE GROUND AND PEOPLE HURT BY TRIPPING OVER THOSE NEARLY INVISABLE TIE DOWN LINES!!??
Probably a lot Russell. You could put hazard cones by your guywires or you could worry about more important things
@@beer-juice2377 i guess you don't have anything more important to do than to comment on the unimportant things i just commented on....
if the pegs were at 90 degrees you wouldnt be able to hammer them in, but other than that nice vid!

If these things are anything like inflatable mattress's,
then they are CRAP!
How many times have I awaken to a deflated mattress?!
Sparkymax L 45
Have you owned and used one to be publicly stating that they are going to be crap? They are actually awesome, wickedly easy to put up quickly, no poles to mess about with and do not deflate on your during the night, as your not sleeping on top of it and the inner tubes are not made of cheap vinyl. Ergh, some peoples comments.. Shoot first, check your facts never, right?
Bad sound
You demonstration are too far from your camera.Speak and see your self
Meanwhile, back at the farm....
This tent is definitely a female then 😂
Matthew Atack I thought that..!! Ha ha! Up she goes!!
Why did it go down on him haha
10 minutes....? Took you 26. I faffed with my coleman Valdes 4 for 2 hours and gave up. I hate camping.
Admittedly it would of been a lot quicker if there wasn't so much talking but you can check out this video on how quickly it can be put up.

You keep referring to the tent as 'she' ! Do tents have genders now?
It's a Westcountry thing
Does that offend you Stan?
When did we give tents and their components a gender? “Pumping her up!!”🤣
She? Tents have genders? 🤡
Would help if he enunciated clearly. Sounds like mumbling.
Tents are not female, nor are tent pegs…please use pronouns correctly!
You must be a teacher
it might be worth noting that this video was made seven year's ago when gender pronouns were not an issue like they are now. My tent is female and her name is Karen she gets a bit deflated when i try to put her back in her bag.
