#RickWakeman
me in 1985 - “this sucks!”
me in 2020 - “this is great!”
That is an interesting take. Time certainly has a way of altering the way we look at things.
Yeah, it sucked compared to any of Henry´s wives but is magical compared to today´s music
Lol. Me too.
Aged like fine wine
No, it STILL sucks
Rick is packing those white trousers.
this is Rick Wakeman's "Temporary Secretary"
take that as you will
Very well put
hahahaha that's exactly what I thought !!!!!! hahahahahaa
Rick, it looks like you are auditioning for "Upper Class Twit of the Year" for Monty Python !!!
Lol Yes, all the Classic Prog bands of the Era LOVED Monty Python, ELP, Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis especially !! : D
My thoughts exactly. Lol.
Umm what is that I’m only 16 😂
@@amerived3493 only the greatest comedy troupe of all time
I love you weirdo. Bahahahahahahah. 👍🇦🇺
Rick that is just Weird, even by prog standards
No it isn't. Come on
@@marinhrabric6162 knowing a Prog rock god song writer gives me an insight to what is considered Prog and what is considered comedic. Any song has to tell a story no matter the music genre. For example parts of olas of Sunhillow and it’s sequel are based on real world locations yet manage to tell a mythical story.
Not at all weird by 1980s music video standards. And great historic detail of south east English life.
@@malo66Prog was always left of centre and a bit Avant Garde, with lyrics at even AI struggles to come up with. Now Phil Colins should have joined YES when Jon asked him.
Rick tells the story about his "The Six Wives of Henry the Eighth" Concert for the British royalty recently. All the 6 women walked-in dressed in fine Elizabethan dresses onto the stage. Then one of his sons yelled out from the balcony to Rick on-stage, "So which one's me Mum, Dad?" A true story Rick says.
His kids definitely inherited his sense of humor!
@@julieabraham3566 You're American. You've spelt "humour" wrong
Never knew this existed! It sounds like The Buggles. ☺😀😁😂
No matter how Rick is dressing. He is always a genius.
British humor at it's best
Ha ha He's on his way to his job at the Ministry of Silly Walks.
This makes my day to see this on the official RW channel.
Misssd this one first time round!
I'm a lifelong Boy George fan... and I had no idea George was in this video, until now!
Ultimate English dynamic.....he played Moog on Sabbath bloody Sabbath......
Love it. Little bit of Sparks in there. This album needs to be rediscovered.
Wasn't this recorded and released a good year before the LP and regarded on release as a standalone between albums single?
He was a cool looking Viking in Listomania movie.
This was not meant to be a masterpiece. He did it just for fun. But anyway it is very enjoyable, as everything Rick does.
kind of a relief 2 see 70s rick again halfway thru
This is not the typical RW stuff // Funny Rick!
Mydinner’swaitingonthetableeveningBasilhelloMabel. OHNO! 😂 we love you Rick 👍
Lol.. Boy George!!
great python weirdo !
This seems very modern......if your straight your seen as a weirdo 😂
Great song by a musical genius
We badly needed this in these times. Thank you Rick, you were a true prophet (pun intended) when crafted this 40 years ago.
Oh Rick,you weirdo.
Cool...looks like a CS-80 there
Do a search for the Monty Python sketch The Dull Life of a City Stockbroker and I think you'll see a spiritual predecessor to this video.
A gift 😂😂😂
He is sometimes weird;
He is sometimes strange;
I don't think he's so strange,
He's a weird-O
Ha Ha Ha you are a wiredo LOOL BUT also the BEST keyboard player on Earth !
I adore albums of Rick Wakeman. I store all his albums. Of course the Yes group, too.
With love from Russia!
Rick has a good sense of humor. I hope. WoW
This is hugely entertaining and funny and all, but the last minute and fifteen seconds are also kind of sublime.
RICK WAKEMAN 2020 !🤣😂🤣
Oooo. A CS80. Can I have it ?
This went to #1 didn’t it?
Rick Wakeman, the man who made meme-music WAY before it was cool!
keys make for weirdo something about ya. study practicing isolation early. RW fan since 1971.
Oh' Snap!!! Post punk Rick!!?? Never seen this!! Well done lad!! What was the big blackish synth on the back left side of you at the end of the video!!??
Total Boards of Canada vibes in that outro
Hilarious! I had no idea this existed
Boy George @00:30
Love it ❤️
Still 1000% better than anything in any Top 40 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
WOT.......... NO SILLY WALK????
Come on Rick, that outfit was crying out for it!!!!!! 😂
Or going on and on and on until foaming from the mouth :)
2:28 is classic Rick Wakeman in his prime.
When I watch this, I get flashbacks of Monty Python and John Cleese for some reason.
that's exactly what I thought !!
I kept waiting for him to break into a silly walk.
One of the best prog goes new wave I've ever seen!
MAESTROOO
Excellent! 😃👏👏👏🤓👏👏😄🤗
Monty Python with a touch of Kenny Everett thrown in!
This song will definitely haunt me for eternity
Now we know where Radiohead stole Creep
Headdaball
HELLO MABEL
This sucks so hard that is GOOD!!
The best
I love that song! Oh my God! Tell me you have more songs like this! I met you in Venezuela, the two times you were in my country! I keep that memory with a lot of love and emotion!
Monty Pythons skits.. LOL .. Rick, you are a funny Weirdo..!!
This was a treat waking up this morning to see this posted. Thanks, Rick!
I always thought Rock N' Roll Prophet was Rick's little tongue-in-cheek jab at the _Buggles/Yes_ collab, since it was written but not released in the same timeframe.
He'd just done Rhapsodies and 1984 around the same period, 2 outstanding albums. This one is nothing like anything else in his catalog.
As usual Rick saved his best work for himself.
One of the few tracks where we get to luxuriate in Rick's vocals.
Just discovered this song for myself a few weeks ago, it's great to see an official upload!
Oh, dear!
I never realized Rick was also so funny until I saw him perform last year on Grumpy Old Man tour...aside from his outstanding comedy performance at Rock Hall of Fame appearance of course! His show was incredibly musically great AND had us laughing all throughout. Thanks so much Rick. Even my wife, who thinks he is Rick "Wakefield" completely enjoyed the show!
Hahah I love this.
My father introduced your music to me, and I plan to do the same with my child in the future, thanks for everything!
I bought this single because I liked the title of the song. The b-side “Do You believe in Faeries” is just as oddball as well!
unbelievable god of the keyboards
Wot? No cape?
At 0:31, young lad looking through train car window looks a lot like a young Boy George
Well spotted. I looked it up: it actually _is_ Boy George! He tweeted about the video way back in 2010, too. twitter.com/boygeorge/status/22081010734
Veeery well done!!
What a contrast to the recent Piano tours!
And the guy in the centre at 2:07 looks a bit like Simon Le Bon.
A very amusing weirdo for that.
And all the contemporary arpeggios, that were usually done by programmed arpeggiators, probably played by hand.
Love that sense of humour! 🤣
This is really relevant in 2020
Thanks for this Rick, delightful.
This is hilarious!!! And the music is of a high quality. Rick, you're always fantastic!
I love this comedy bit by Rick. Great one!
Rock and Roll. Not "great", but "great fun" !
im so gay im normal
I have always loved this track! So good to see the video in decent quality too for the first time in my life...
All my life I was waiting for a music to define myself, now I can say, I'm "a Rick Wakeman"!
What in the BUGGLES is this?!!
Blimey, forgotten all about this, great to hear it again
Absolute Hero that you are. I was afraid that we would never see a high quality version of this fantastic video clip.
Rock 'n' Roll Prophet is EPIC. Fight me.
The joys of UA-cam !
Hah! Not only extremely funny guy and best keyboard player ever, but also a decent comedic actor.
Wow!!! This is just splendid!
Also that bass part is just rocking! 💕 it!
Un genio como wakeman este tocando esa porquería necesita dinero
One of the few vinyl records I have kept over the years. THANK YOU!
Just what I needed. This is brilliant.
I love incredibly this song and the whole album. It's so full of humor! When I heard it the first time was on the radio. The dj said: 'in questa giornata pazzescamente piena di sole: Rick Wakeman!' it was the first time I heard a Rick's song on the radio, it was not easy to be his fan in Italy: no concerts, no radio, no television, long researches to find the records. In fact I found Rock' n'roll prophet only 6 month later when I was in Holland.
2020 makes sense now...bless you
@2:34 A less commonly known fact about the late '70s and early '80s is that people used to literally glow. This was due to the lack of regulations regarding EMF shielding on household devices and industry-related equipment.
Always been a fan of Rick. I remember buying this in 1980, with pic sleeve. Never knew he'd done a video of it. BRILL!
It is actually impossible to spread hatred towards Rick really! You know why? Because he his trully A nice guy!! I've watched about lots of interviews and his coments about the things in music and his to nice with everyone! Damm he even make records alongside his own son! How nice of a Dad is he? See his interviews in Old Grey Whistle Test and also the documentary Trailblazers of Prog Rock! He has great messages !! God bless him!!!
Adrian Juste used to play this on his radio programme on a Saturday lunchtime!
This is the first Wakeman record I ever bought. It was made in Spain. It didn't stop me from buying more Wakeman records including Rock'n'Roll Prophet. That's because I'm so straight I'm a weirdo too.
I always smile when I hear this song. One of the rare times Rick is on vocals. First time I've seen the whole video. Thanks for sharing!
I've never heard any Rick vocals! Are there any others?

Pedra da Gavea from Rhapsodies. Same time period.
@@scrambaba you're right- forgot about that one.
Please can anyone tell me lyrics???
I don't understand how he is weird. But then, I'm not straight.
