Great video! Just one thing, if you're going to write notes between some of the scenes make sure they are on the screen long enough to be read, very annoying having to pause every time just to read what it says ;)
a comparison like that isn't really reasonable, but if we were to entertain it I think you have to favor Zhang Jike - Waldner was able to beat many Chinese by abusing the weakness of only having one strong wing as many Chinese players (mostly penholders) did back then. It's easy to see Zhang Jike is incredibly strong on both wings while still possessing the speed many of the old Chinese players did. Not to mention Zhang Jike is excellent at serve return and blocking, which would mitigate (I'll admit it probably wouldn't nullify) Waldner's serve/followup game
Zhang Jike won 5 grand slam titles, while Waldner has 4. Zhang Jike won more major titles in a much shorter period of time. I don’t get Waldner fans always harping on about the GOAT title when it is clear that Waldner is not even better than Zhang Jike in terms of winning record let alone Ma Long.
@@Magnanimous_ Waldner has more medals in the WTTC and he beat greater players for his Olympic silver in 2000 whereas ZJK beat only a 40yo Samsonov.He has more accolades than ZJK.The World Cup isn't a major.Winning in shorter period doesn't mean much since he won most of his finals against the same player Wang Hao.You can say he owned WH but so did Ma Lin.He destroyed his body in no time, Wang Hao would have actually won the Grand Slam if he were allowed to compete in 2016.
