This does not include minimum GPA/sGPA, required GRE scores, or minimum patient care experience so please keep all those in mind when selecting programs! Have a great week and be positive! :)
CONGRATS!!!!.You are going to love it man. I original went to college to be a Clinical Lab Scientist C/o 07' did it for 4 years but i get BORED with the career and went back to college to be a PA. When to The University of Florida in Gainesville FL and now work in NYC as a Pulmonary PA and I LOVE IT!!!! UF has PANCE rate of 99% and Attrition rate of 1.8% .
That's cool my only pieces of advice is DO what you love. You are going to have tons of other PA's and NP's and Dr's tell you what they think you should do. Also after you finish school and have two years of work experience I would recommend being a PA Traveler you can be your own boss and learn from other Dr. and PA.
I am currently in my 1st year of PA school! I LOVE to give advice, tips and share my experiences so if you have any questions feel free to email me or reach out on Instagram @hayrichhh :)
Hey Hayley, I am currently an undergrad student who is considering the PA field. I would love to ask you some question over email about your experience if that cool!
Nice! Yeah just got mine not too long ago. But awesome! I appreciate that man. You're definitely inspiring me to want to give back to future PA students just like you when my time comes too.
I may also look for mental health and advising resources available at the school. I'm applying to medical school, but PA school is also very rigorous and it may be helpful to know what support systems the school has in place for student success :) You have really good things to consider--the MPH/PA dual degree sounds like a really cool option. I think my state's medical campus is working on making that program :)
Hi James, I know this is an old video so I'm really hoping you see my comment haha I'm going to have around a 3.4 GPA by the time I'm ready to apply and I'm worried about getting in to schools. Do you know if I'll be a good candidate for most schools or which schools I should look into? I should have around 2-3k PCE and hopefully a good GRE. I'm just really stressed because most schools say their students have at least a 3.5 GPA. I want to apply to a bunch so I can get in the first year. I'm willing to go anywhere pretty much but would rather be on a coast. You're an inspiration so I thank you for your videos
3.4 GPA with 2-3,000 PCE and a good GRE score will make you a solid applicant. Apply broadly and put together a strong application/LORs, PS, etc and you'll be in good shape!
James Kim Thank you! Also I forgot to mention that all my pre requisites will be taken at a community college (regionally accredited) on long island (suffolk county community college). Do you think that this might look bad and shorten my list of schools? I’m a post bacc just mapping out my own pre reqs since it’s much cheaper this way. I could take some classes at stony brook possibly but i’d really rather not. Thanks for the help and a happy holiday to you!
Continuing accreditation is the safest and most established. It means that the PA program has already been fairly established and have met the standards required by the national accreditation agency and are continuing their accreditation!
Schools with continuing accreditation have already proven themselves to meet the standards so yes! but there is also nothing wrong with a provisionally accredited program as you will still be able to sit for the PANCE! :) which is super important!
Hello! I hope u respond but I’m in a pickle (well I feel like it) I’m a neuroscience major rn. I want to be a PA. I’m deciding wether to be in the nursing program to gain experience keep my major, or switch to this medical diagnostics pre pa concentrated program !! This program is really rigorous and has all these classes I never seen in my life like virology. I just have to take the pre reqs for these 2 years to hopefully actually get into the major start of junior year. Scares me how complicated it would take to get in but helpfully I would cause not a lot of people are in this program I don’t think. This program at my schools has an articulation agreement with Arcadia university PA program which I guess means once I graduate with this I am guaranteed to go to Arcadia? If this so true I definitely really want to try to get into this program. Do u know about Arcadia? I looked it up and it seems the class of 2020 had a 98% first time PANCE pass rate!!
But I’m pretty sure since Arcadia is in Pennsylvania it’ll be a lot of money. They do have a campus in Newark delaware though which is where I’m at for my undergrad.
If you could go back and do it all again, would you do a 5 year bs/ms program or would u stick with the traditional route and do undergrad then grad? I’m conflicted because I love the 5 year program I got into, but the school is local and I wanted to go away for school, while my other option is a few hours away but I would have to do undergrad then grad which I feel like isn’t for me :/
Honestly because of the people/friendships I made, I wouldn't trade my path. If I was strictly speaking about PA and that being my only focus in life, I would've loved to do the 5 year program

Hi James! I was wondering how versatile was your patient care experience ?
I'm a senior in high school and I'm thinking about PA school. All of your videos have been so helpful so thank you!
Hey Taylor! That's awesome! Keep up the good work and enjoy the process!
Thank you!

Hey Louie! Thank you so much my man! That's an awesome story you have. I wish you continued success and happiness in your career! Go Gators!
You're welcome!!! Quick question have you decided a specialty yet?
I am starting my program in June so keeping my options open for my specialty! I do like ortho, emergency, and family medicine as of right now :)

Appreciate the advice! And I'll definitely look into work as a traveling PA, sounds awesome!

Ahh that's awesome Hayley! Hope it's going well. Already sent you a follow :)

sure!! it is c.hayleyrichardson@gmail.com
Good information James! Good luck, 3 more months!!!
Thanks Kaynen! If you're still going to be around in Nevada after June, let's grab lunch sometime!
Sounds like a plan!
Can't wait to see what the future has in store for you! Keep up the videos!
Thank you Brian!
Please do a video about the future of PA! The profession is really evolving
I will add it to my list! :)
Super random but shout outs for wearing that lokai bracelet too haha! Thanks for the good advice, as always, James.
Appreciate it Aaron! Yes been rocking Lokai for almost two years strong! Keep up your vlogs man, I've been keeping up with them haha

Great video! And seriously love the new intro 👌🏼 Good editing work!
Thanks! Appreciate you noticing the edit :)
Very insightful thankful!!
Appreciate it! :)
I think students should also consider if their school have a cadaver labs... The video was very informative thanks!!

That is an awesome thing to consider as well! Mental health is definitely a topic that isn't talked about as much as it should be.
Also this was so helpful!!!!
:)
Quick question: Since CASPA closes on Oct. 1st, is the first week of August too late to take the GRE? Thank you so much. Love the channel
What PA program are you going to ?
I will be starting at Touro Nevada in June :)

I want to get into Cardiothoracic surgery. However, here it sounds like many programs may not offer this elective at all?....
That is very specialized but there definitely PAs working in CT surgery so you can if you really want to!
Hey James, How many programs did you apply to and how many were you invited to interview? Thanks!
I applied to over 30 and received 8 interviews!
What's does continuing accreditation mean?
Continuing accreditation is the safest and most established. It means that the PA program has already been fairly established and have met the standards required by the national accreditation agency and are continuing their accreditation!
So should I preferably choose one of these schools versus provisional accreditation?
Schools with continuing accreditation have already proven themselves to meet the standards so yes! but there is also nothing wrong with a provisionally accredited program as you will still be able to sit for the PANCE! :) which is super important!
Did you join any organizations before applying on CASPA like APAA or something like that?
I joined the AAPA but the only thing I really got out of that before applying was informative articles and current topics in the PA profession!

James Kim thank you! :)
Hi James~
Could you make a video on how you prepared for the GRE? such as timeline.. Thank you!
Hey Jacky! Its definitely on my list of videos to make!
Hi I'm from Cincinnati Ohio. I would like to know about school with minimum classes attendance and there's a helpful website out there for more info
I'm really late but wondering has anyone in the comments applied to Arcadia university's pa program?
