    I've been excited to get to greens for some time now. You most definitely did not disappoint! As with red, there is a difference when it comes to how the color actually looks on the page. Many thanks for making these videos.

      Joey, hopefully you'll like next week's as well, with the darker colours!

    Apple Glory is my favourite, it’s such a happy colour and quite unusual compared to the usual green inks

    Cheers for the testing, helped me decided which green to buy. I love ink reviews that show larger writing samples. Thank you.

    You slurp as loud as you want to, sir. You've located my favorite green for me, cheers! (Meadow)

      Mine too, I think. Really good colour, shading and outlining!

      @@writerlywitterings You might also like Herbin Vert Pré ink. I just discovered it in a sampler pack I got from GouletPens.com in the States, probably more widely available for you. It's much lighter, almost yellow, but on most paper it's really interesting once dry.

    Kelly green for me that was a lovely blend of lemon and lime so refreshing!!!
    Am sucker for all turquoise/teal/Cyan shades so definitely have soft mint type colours with me since we don't get diamine inks here in Pakistan I have two bottle of diamine ink only which I requested some coming from the UK to bring it for me

      I like Kelly too, although it's been superseded as my favourite green by Rohrer & Klingner's "Alt Gold-Grun", which is just wonderful, especially the way it shades!

    Out of the ones tested here I have Apple Glory, which I love, and Kelly Green, which I really don't like. From your test, I'm sold on Woodland Green too, even though you're not fond of it, so thanks for the comparison.

      I think the more I look at them, it's the Meadow that really appeals. Gorgeous colour, nice and understated - but I'm really looking forward to testing all the other greens (seven to go).

    Absolutely love the Diamine greens. Green and purple have been my go to colours to journal with for decades, so I have quite the collection of those inks. I find Meadow a really nice bright contrast to their serious darker greens. And the Soft Mint is a much cheaper alternative travelling bottle to Iroshizuku's Ku Jaku (Peacock Green), or Herbin's Diavolo Menthe. It's not as intense as the Ku Jaku but it's waaaaay cheaper! :-)

      @writerlywitterings  5 років тому

      Many thanks, Phoenix - and I am with you on the Green/Purple combo. I like the colours that are different! And you're definitely right that Diamine is a hell of a lot cheaper than Iroshizuku!

    Emerald out of this lot for me - that understated herby hint of basil almost............ what?? MORE greens.......... what a joy to look forward to. (I am being quite serious).

      Evelyn, I think you and I need therapy! The next greens will (I think) be all the darker ones. Looking forward to testing them!

    I like a green-black for every day writing and it's been Faber-Castel Moss Green of late. Some times I love it. Some times I don't. Maybe that Emerald is an option. But ... Maybe it's dull indeed.

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  3 роки тому

      I do like the Moss Green. I always thought I'd love Kelly Green from Diamine, but I have to admit, the Emerald is rather easier on the eyes for a whole page of writing!

  • @blackletter2591
    @blackletter2591 4 роки тому +2

    That emerald was a shocker. They must've been looking at industrial emeralds. While many of those inks were pretty, I know from experience that I might buy one or two and leave them sitting on the shelf, as in the end, I don't like to write with paler colours. Only the famous Emerald of Chicken tempts me to actually writing, and then only with a dip pen. Thanks for the look.

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  4 роки тому +1

      My pleasure, Dragonize! I'm not too keen on greens generally, but oddly for me it's the paler and more pastel the better!

      @@writerlywitteringsthat's what I'm saying! Emerald is one of my favorites if not my favorite green! And it gets little love from others online I've seen 😂

    Was it letters to the editor that were traditionally written in green ink? I have some nice Mont Blanc Irish Green. Thanks for the comparisons!

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  5 років тому

      My pleasure, Paul - there was certainly some purpose to green ink, but I can't think what it was!

      I know the head of MI5 signs in green ink the letter C. They are the only person permitted to use green ink.

    No Sherwood Green? That’s my favourite. Of the ones shown here, I love Meadow best.

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  4 роки тому

      Yes, Sherwood is there. It's on the second group, with Jade Green top left, then Ultra Green, Umber, Delamere Green, and finally Sherwood. A lovely colour, isn't it? Although I'm not really a green fan, I do love the variety that Diamine provides.

    Ive been using sherwood for a while just too dark - agree meadow - just ordered :-). (PS had the same issue with reds - then I found poppy red)

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  3 роки тому

      I may have to play with Poppy again ... so many reds, and all rather lovely, much like the greens! Good luck with the Sherwood.

    I just spray some flash kitchen bleach on my hands, wait for the reaction to start then plunge my hands into a sink of hot water and the ink falls away quite nicely

    What pen were you using here ?

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  3 роки тому

      Sorry, I got bored of saying on all the videos! It was a TWSBI Go. It's the best pen for ink testing and comparison because it's very quick to fill, to empty, and to flush clean. Also, I was using the 1.1mm stub nib, which shows off any shading and contrasts to perfection.

  • @drtjulius9231
    @drtjulius9231 3 роки тому +1

    Hi , what nib size do you use ?

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  2 роки тому +1

      It varies every time. I tend not to like fine nibs (although I love the Conway Stewart and Visconti fines). I once had a Pelikan EF, and cannot describe how much I hated it. Usually, I guess, I'd aim for a medium, but I also love B and BB pens. My ink comparisons are almost always based on a 1.1 mm stub from TWSBI.
