I have the Phase 3 as well but like the Phase 2, which I have drilled through the pin. Phase 3 worked real well for me during the Singles & Doubles pattern at USBC Open
This ball is said to be the most angular ball ever made by any company. This video demonstrates how STORM really outdid themselves with this ball. I can't wait to get this ball.
Thank you for the explanation on what you guys mean by cleaner ball reaction. That ball looks amazing going down the lanes! Awesome video, once again, JR!
Hi JR, big fan of yours. Love your videos. I have a tiny suggestion or request. When you take these videos. You always move right to left. Can you maybe tell us which board you are standing on and which board you are aiming?
I’m in Shelby township, Mi. I work at Shelby lanes, I’m the mechanic. I heard about you at one of the tournaments today. I subbed, looking forward to more videos
I just ordered a 16lb Phase III// New rules state i have to use my thumb on my backup ball. Im a righty that throws left with right hand. And on my normal hook i always use the thumb. So im just going to use my Storm Reign Of Fire 15lb for my backup with a plugged thumb and use the new Phase for my normal.
This is my favorite bowling ball. I roll the ball about 16 mph on the Paris 43 ft pattern and shot 267. I’m 16 years old and this is my 4th year Bowling.
Nice not that bad. Not great but you’re getting there. Typically by the end of your 2nd year and or early your 3rd you should bowl a 260 or higher. But still not bad.
Haven’t had a new ball in 5 years. At this time, I only bowl league, a 165 bowler, I throw avg speed and not high rpm, probably avg. rpm. Which is a better ball for me for league with typical house pattern, AstroPhysixs or Phase 3? Also, how fast were you throwing the ball and what do you think your Rpms were when you had your hand in it and were coming across 5th arrow. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I haven’t ever owned a ball with asymmetrical core. I only have two balls, Hammer Arson and Ebonite Cyclone.
I’m ready to buy this one but after reading a few articles I am still confused about pin placement and top weight. I understand what they are, just not whether they are important enough to. This ball has the option of 2-5 for the placement
Quick question..i just had my thumb hole plugged on this ball, will it affect the way the ball rolls? Like will it still roll the same? Also had the same thing done on my iq emerald. Thanks for any info. Big fan of yours.
I was hoping maybe you could help me. I recently found a very old bowling ball in the garage by Hammer called The Chalk and I've been absolutely lights out with the thing. It's a polished solid symmetric 2.48/0.056. I've been looking for a modern ball that might be similar and the Phaze 3 seems like it might be a good fit. What do you think?
Where or who can I get a recommendation on what ball to buy?...I am only into my second league season and have been using a used Black Widow Assassin. Is this ball too much ball for a 150 average low rev bowler like me?
I would like to assist you, but i would have to see you bowl to be of any assistant. Perhaps go check out Tamerbowlng video reviews, those guys have 3-5 different styles on testing new balls, from high rev, to low rev and high speed to low speed. Maybe your style comes close to one of them, so it is easier to decide. But remember, those people are probably more consistent in their shots. So you would be looking to a forgiving ball (missing left or right from target, but still hold or recover, i assume you are bowling house shots)
Gus K thank you for the lead to Tamer Bowling. I will check them out again. I have seen many of their videos before but kinda got away from them for some reason. Still working on a consistent repeatable delivery, trying to find out what suits me the best. Keeping my hand behind the ball is proving to be the most difficult task consistently.
If you only had money for one ball, would get UFO or phaze 3? I bought the ufo but thinking about returning it to get the phaze 3 since I already have a halo.
JR, what is your typical ball speed? I'm right around 14.5 mph. Just wondering if what type layout to drill this, or if this ball would be too strong for my lower ball speed?
Been out of bowling for years now. Are you the same guy that didn’t speak before around the time of the original Brunswick Fury? If so it’s nice to hear you talk. I think he had a little bit bigger backswing but you’re playing the same place on the lane where he did. Nice bowling none the less. I moved and threw away all 30 of my bowling balls. I’m going to pick something up here soon. Guys are asking me to sub here and there but I don’t know any of the balls. Used to know them all.
Remember it’s surface, cover, core then layout in that order when you talk about ball motion. If he drilled it pin down, pin up ect it would still do what it is engineered to do to an extent. Lots of pros drill pin down to blend the lane a bit better since their higher rev rates can create shape when they need it
I can vouch for the Crux Prime myself and it does get better with more lane shine. I have found a more consistent motion though it can be too much ball on lower volume patterns.
Two different balls two different ends of the spectrum depends on what you want to see this phase 3 just came out the crux prime is one of storms guaranteed signature balls
Like ur reviews! Didnt care too much for the wild streak but this ball looks to be a definitely must have! Think im gonna need a bigger ball bag. Thanks for the reviews keep it up!

I don’t have any problem with new equipment, but why so many different products? Frankly all of these new balls are unnecessary. Bowlers get sucked into buying new balls every year (including myself) when there older equipment works just fine. New balls don’t make a bowler any better. I’ve purchased new balls that turned out bad for me. Why not learn to use what you have.
The thing about storm balls is , I’m scared that the ball would not last for few months , as it would just die out , btw that’s what happened to all my storm balls

I'm not a lefty, but I do appreciate the time you take to mirror the video to show the reaction for a lefty.
But it's not a real shot on the left side. I like his videos but those mirror shots are unnecessary. Maybe get an actual lefty to help with videos.

Thinking about doing it too 😂

Looks similar to Prism hybrid in your hands. I forget your layout for the prism. In my eyes dynamicore wins, though.
Just got my phaze 3 drilled today. Went with a pin down layout. Pretty good so far. We’ll see how it does in league tomorrow.
jace welsh now that you have had it for a while is it still hooking good?
how is the ball now?
I’ve played a little over 100 games on my phase 3 and it still hooks good. Going to get a deep clean and resurface soon though but it’s a great ball

Hey JR I wonder if you tried a weaker layout on a Hyroad type ball?

Gm , what type of layout do you suggest for a down and in player
what do u mean by "supposed to be smooth" at 3:56? is that the same as an archy motion compared to angular?
At the back end it turned left quick. By smooth he means the ball slowing down to hook left

I ball down from this to an intense fire, however my fire had a balance hole and it has lane shine
i have a quiz in the morning and i don’t even score over 80 the 1 time a year i bowl why am i watching this
what do u mean by stronger and weaker?
How does this compare to the web and web tour @jr?? Please reply.
Cleaner and stronger over all
Won't every ball do what you want it to do if you drill it to do that. Most pros have the pin over the fingers to control the hook

What should I get, a Crux Prime or Phaze 3 ?
It depend on wether you want a stronger smooth predictable reaction(crux prime) or a hard snap similar(phase III) to the physix. I love both of them!
Ok, Thank you, yea I like whatever will be similar to a pro motion. Very different balls but I love it so much

Probably not a fan of phaze two cause of layout. Put the layout on the phaze two that you put on those halos.
