Kratos going to *literal Valhalla* to avoid talking about his emotions is the most Kratos thing ever. Týr tricking him into therapy is equally hilariously.
It’s really was amazing to see all the callbacks to the older games. Even to go through the effort of designing the look and gameplay of the old enemies. This really was the therapy everyone thought Kratos needed. Even watched a reaction of the end by a psychologist who specializes in trauma. Christopher Judge’s performance is superb. There is more to play in this DLC with a bit more side story.
First of all, super glad to see you playing this again. Second, just gonna give my two cents about the Kratos and Freya ship. While I see why many like it, to me it is way too uncomfortable. Like, the dude killed her son and fought her multiple times. She said some truly venomous things to him while enraged. To me there is way to much baggage there for anything to blossom. That being said, not trying to police your shipping or anything, enjoy it all as best you see fit. Edit: Damn! I didn't realize when writing the original comment that this video is the whole DLC in one go! Congrats on completing it! I realize you are probably busy playing other stuff, but I strongly recommend you someday come back to this and play it on a harder difficulty. For me, so much of the enjoyment of it was in pushing myself to learn all the combat mechanics and the best way to use all runics, specials, etc, in order to best complement my combat style and ability. Valhala is there for us to "master ourselves" and I definitely did, learning to do eeverything that I ignored in the base game because Valhalla was relentless, nothing less would do. I find Tyr to be so cool here, really does make up for him being absent for most of the Norse saga. His weapons, in order of unlock, are as follows: Shield and Spear (Norse), Macahuitl (Mayan/Aztec club with obsidian blades on the sides), Kopesh (Egyptian blades) and Katana (Japanese sword). They are all charged elementally in some way or other, and they are from different cultures and origins, which makes Tyr a great adversary, as he mirrors Kratos in all these ways. He also switches weapons while he fights, which is awesome. Helios was such a pain, but I find him to be the funny kind of asshole, not fun to have with you, but fun to see him annoy others. I loved allt he callbacks to the greek games here, and Kratos' journey and redemption arc especifically has such a fantastic resolution. Tyr essentially tricked Kratos into therapy, and as a student of Psychology I find that hilarious. I think he did a fantastic job a showing Kratos that there is a very significant difference between himself and his past, and more importantly, that a new perspective on old memories and situations can lend a renewed vigor to continue moving forwards in life. The sword Kratos unlocks as a rage path is the sword of olympus, the mightiest of weapons, which he was killed by once and which he also used to mortally wound Zeus. [Kratos hasa big scar on his abdomen, wonder how that happened hahahaha]. My favorite part if this whole DLC is seeing Kratos come out triumphant from Valhalla's gates and the "God of Hope" achievement showing up. I love how that title can literally be used to explain his whole arc. From darkness to light, feeling like it was all done and gone, hope lived inside of him. The hope that he could one day be better, and the hope that one day he could bring a better tomorrow to all. Anyway, great video, super enjoyable, 10/10 would watch again.
Also fun fact when you fight Tyr he uses different weapons from different mythologies 1st. A Grecian spear and shield 2nd. An Aztec Macuahuitl 3rd. A pair of Egyptian Khopesh swords 4th. A traditional Japanese Katana Really shows Tyr’s desire for knowledge
I would highly recommend you to play the original God of War trilogy along with Ghost of Sparta, Chains of Olympus and Ascension in order to fully grasp the story and all the callbacks behind Valhalla. Kratos’s first family, his daughter Calliope, his vengeance against Ares, Zeus and all the gods of Olympus and of course the blade of Olympus which is the sword that you used in Valhalla, are immensely significant to his story and character growth.
@@everiite plus everytime he pulled out a new weapon I point out where it came from since I knew from 2018 Tyr got around. The sad part about this is that Atreus is missing out on this.
To be honest in gow3 helios tried to trick kratos tempting him to go inside the flame of Olympus to kill him saying to him that it could have helped him but kratos knew that no one can survive from the flame of Olympus and knew that helios was trying to trick him, so after that kratos ripped helios' head off and used it like a magic weapon 😂😂 i mean, it was during the final battle against the Olympian gods, it wasn't wrong to kill helios and seriously, in that game all the gods deserved to die, they was evil gods 😂😂😂 there is a lot in the lore of god of war but the greek gods basically was pretty evil, even before kratos opening the pandora's box they wasn't good gods and did horrible things to kratos, i think that if you play the old games you can understand why kratos killed so many gods and why he was consumed by rage and vengeance, I'm not gonna lie, kratos truly did even horrible things but mostly under ares' control, for the rest he was more like the typical character who do what no one would ever do to succeed but in general he was a cool character
1:10:40 That was the “Blade of Olympus” it’s a very powerful weapon that Kratos used to kill Zeus (fun fact also that scar on kratos’ stomach was made by Zeus who impaled him with the blade) have you not played the original God of War games?
I really like Tyr's design. At first it seemed kind of random for him to be so tall. But then I realized he's that tall _so Kratos can look up to him._

LMAOOO NO HONESTLY 😂😂😂
It may have taken more than a year for the Valhalla DLC to come out but the fact it’s free DLC alone makes it worth it.
They could've taken 3 years and I still would've been so happy 😤
This dlc is the gift that keeps on giving with the story. Once you think it's the end.. haha, there's more, and more. Great playthrough
Yes! Lol the dlc has a LOT to give which is really nice

is so godd how the expresion of kratos in his face when he sits is a litlte of fear but then is so calm :0

That never crossed my mind and I love him more for it
Did you play the older God of War games?
