I just bought this bike a few days ago. I haven't been able to get down there to pick it up yet, but I can't wait. We have a paved bike trail just down the road from us, so it will be mostly for that. I also got a child seat attachment so I can take a ride with my soon to be 2 year old son.
@DIYNorth I got it on sale for $299. It isn't going to be used for anything extreme. Just the bike trail with my son, or an easy path. Definitely not hitting any jumps with it.
@DIYNorth I just picked it up. I went with the wet cement color. But I now wish I went with the blue. Doesn't look as good in person. I got it home and the front tire was flat and the rear tire isn't put on right. The red looks really nice too. I may end up returning it and exchanging it for a different color.
We wanted the blue, but it wasn't available on line from the store we bought it from, hence why we went with the red. Our front tire would hold air for about 2 hours and then go flat. I have since changed the tube, so its fine now.
Just started putting this bike together. In my excitement while putting the handlebars on the fork slid out and all the spacers and bearing caps came off. Searched hi and low for a diagram to see the order but no luck. Any chance you know?
I cant anymore because I changed the brakes for hydraulics, but I did do a specific break adjustment video already because someone also asked for it. I did the rear breaks but the method is the same for front and back.
I have this same bike in orange also. I bought it to build as a dirt jump / bmx bike so I got a size small. So far I converted it to a 1 x 8 drivetrain, changed the stem and bars, upgraded to maxis tires, and shimano M201 brakes. I plan on getting a better fork soon. The bike is a steal at $300 from dicks when on sale the frame is solid and worth at least that.
I also think that it is a good bike when on sale. Full price though I think I'd look at something else. I hope to put a rock shox judy or recon on it soon.
I'm not 100% as I've never tried it, but i think you need a bold on axel instead of the quick release. There might be conversion kits, but I don't think that there is a direct fit peg....I could be wrong though.
I want to buy one, I am 6" tall and I was thinking of buying this bike, to go on trails and daily use, I found a 27.5 tread and 230 dollars, is it a good buy or are there better bikes
It's a decent entry level bike. If you are budgeting around $200 (i assume US) then it is pretty reasonable. There are a lot of better bikes out there for a bit more money though.
Look for things in the off season. Often can be found half price. Also, bikes today are pretty robust, so used bikes are often still perfectly fine. (inspect carefully though)
Wouldn't call this "highly upgradeable". The crank arms and chainrings are all bolted together; and the proprietary sized tapered headset meant much less common straight steerer tubed forks. And oh yeah, those i19 rims (they're pretty darn tough at least).
Good job on taking off the reflector's i have a GT aggressor sport and it looks so much better without those ugly reflectors on it and Also i do ride at night too i just run lights on it and no issues with visibility 👌👍
generally pretty rarely, I oil the chain and then wipe it down pretty frequently though. The hubs for the front and rear wheels should be done maybe once a year. depends on how much you ride. I don't really follow much of a schedule, I'm pretty lazy.
Bike maintenance is fairly straight forward, but I find it is a bit more of a precision process as compared to working on vehicles. You don't need much for tools either. I'm sure everything you need to know can be found on you tube.
I think the style of riding is the more important consideration. If you are riding roads and side walks with just a bit of light trails then it should be fine as it is. If on the other hand you are doing more aggressive trails, downhills, or jumping then you might have some challenges. I think a new set of brakes would be helpful (like a shimano hydraulic set), other than that a strong wheelset might be helpful. The ultra light weight wheels often have rider weight recommendation so i would avoid those, but there are more aggressive mountain oriented wheel sets that would be good. The existing wheels might be fine though.
@DIYNorth yeah I'll be probably jumping it not super huge jumps or anything just little ones I see here and there downhill not just yet but this bike will probably get alot of upgrades in the future
bought this bike off marketplace...took of the front wheel to get into my car...put it back on at home and notice the front tire is touching the curve part of the front fork...and then figured out the reason for the two centre treads to be worn out...how to fix or adjust? I have a video too!
The tire should not come into contact with the fork in the manner you are describing. Is there a chance that there is a 29 inch tire instead of a 27.5 inch tire on the bike?
Normally the rotor is fixed in place because it gets bolted to the hub. I just posted a video last night on how to adjust the brakes on the gt aggressor pro which might be of assistance
it's a great bike. I've had mine for about 3 1/2 years and I've upgraded everything on it except the stock rims and the frame of course. I've put probably $1500-$2000 into it in upgrades and right now I'm going to be upgrading from my 8-speed Box 4 groupset to maybe an 11-speed Shimano XT groupset if the 11-speed cassette will fit, although I'm not sure. That's how I came upon your video searching on UA-cam to see if anyone has put a 11-speed cassette on the stock rim lol. Hope your son enjoys the bike and it should be a great bike to work on with him. If you are looking for budget upgrade suggestions I highly recommend Wolftick video, their UA-cam channel is what I used for most of my budget upgrades before I started going with more higher tier parts. Just google Wolftick Videos GT Aggressor Pro. Liked and subbed, I'm interested to see what you do with this bike.
Yes wolftick has a bunch, and they look helpful. There is a video on berm peaks channel as well called "flipping a $300 hardtail" which is also the gt aggressor. Making this a 1xdrive is on the list to do, but right now I'm just hitting the sale items on jenson and a few other sites to keep cost down. Basically whatever goes on 25 percent off or more is the next upgrade.
They dont work like that, you need to buy a different stem with a steeper rise. The fork is cut at a specific height and wont let the stem come up safely. But to remove it there are 3 bolts two on the stem, and the top cap on the top of the stem.
@@DIYNorth Not knocking you. I am in the middle of a build. Adding hydralic brakes. Internal routing can be a PAIN. When the new hose guide and hose gets here, I will complete this part of my build. Drive train next.
You get what you pay for sometimes. that said I've had no issues with this on trails over last few days. It's been good for the price. What fell apart? I'm not really sure what that means.

I'm not sure why the chain would break, but I think the shifting issue might just be your high/low adjustment or your cable is way too loose. My front brakes were also noisy, I couldnt adjust them like hydraulic brakes, I had to adjust the caliper location until the rotor was between the pads, then it was good. Did dick's set the bike up?
@@DIYNorth my bike was on the sales floor when i bought it , so yea it was set up by dicks technician aready. The bike had to be check before my return was approve and they wanna to fix it instead of refunding my money. The chain on the other hand ,they had no clue while it came apart...that sucks cause i really like the bike also... The rotors i adjust it and it works fine when it's on the bike stand but when u put weight on it , it rubs like crazy...
We don't have that store in Canada, but I might question their skills in putting bikes together and doing a quality job in adjusting them. Our version (Sport Chek) also shouldn't be trusted to do really good work on a bike. There might be some exceptions where they get a really good mechanic in somehow, but generally speaking I think the issue might be in the set up. I would go to a dedicated bike store for a set up instead of a big box sports store.
This bike was absolutely garbage out of the box no matter how much I tightend the stem it would not actually hold the position there for the bike was unrideable. 100% would not recommend wasted time wasted effort bike in the garbage.

Thank you! Your video was extremely helpful in assembling my new GT Aggressor Pro
Thanks for checking out the video.
Hope the GT runs well for you this year.
One question. When you put the front brake on and the wire cable is long. Do you cut the wire and cap it.
Yes I would
Can you please share a video on how to adjust the front suspension. Thanks
I'll see what I can do.
