After the massively awaited adventure that was Kingdom Hearts III, as well as its ReMind DLC, Square decided to bridge the epilogue of both those stories with the next entry with... A rhythm game? That sounds pretty odd. But I'm all for it! It's a very fun experience, and though I wish there were more story developments in the grand scheme of things, #KingdomHearts #MelodyOfMemory is a fun time revisiting many of the series' iconic tunes. I hope we get more tracks someday!

It's weird that Kairi has pretty much admitted that she's been pretty much useless in almost the entire franchise. Even in her own games she's kind of useless as she's kind of the same person as Sora

Would of been a plot twist if Kairi was learning about the things that happened in the past, reacting to them in-canon. As in every cutscene us players have seen from every game would be seen by her including events she was not present for, even conversations that were only between Braig and Xehanort (during B.B.S.).

Exactly! Yen Sid literally screwed Sora over so much. Like, he KNEW Xehanort was coming back and that Sora could be a target since he was the one who stopped Ansem/Xemnas and is the biggest threat to Xehanort... and did jack shit to protect the kid who he and Mickey knew thanks to Recoded was the key to saving all the lost lights?? He threw Sora in an exam, which mind you shouldn't have mattered since Sora had the keyblade for like a year at that point (not counting the year he was asleep) and managed to save the universe twice and defeat both Ansem and Xemnas, without any protection and then failed him despite it not being SORA'S fault. Sora did Yen Sid’s job at the age of 14/15 and was a prodigy... but because he didn’t unlock all the worlds he doesn't get the title but Riku, Mr. "was the reason the worlds nearly fell the first time" Riku did because he saved Sora from a trap Sora didn't see because Yen Sid told him it was all a dream and should've protected him due to Sora being a child doing an adult's job?? And how did Yen Sid NOT know that Sora actually did have the Power of Waking the whole time?? Nah, he needed Sora to not know the consequences so he'd save everyone and vanish. Yen Sid set Sora up like a Pig for slaughter and deserves all the blame since he did nothing for a DECADE to stop Xehanort and left a preteen to do it and even when he did punished him for it.
Man, I'd be up for a mainline KH game where we can play through a whole campaign as Kairi.

But yes, as a narrative it's absolutely pointless and can truly be considered the first Kingdom Hearts spin-off game. It's a GOOD spin-off game with a couple tidbits of lore indeed, much the same as Metroid Prime Federation Force, but if that's a spin-off, this is a spin-off.

Also, I love the fact that for someone who is supposed to be the 'love interest' for Sora, Kairi is more sidelined than a needy ex. I mean literally, what does she do throughout all of these games of ANY importance?
I guess main love interests have to choose between doing at least one thing of importance (I want to think that every other main love interests have done at least one thing, even Skura for Arceus' sake) or actually making progress in their love with the main protagonist. 🤷♂️

@@clemente3966 The more I see Sakura Haruno compared to Kairi the more I hate it. Sakura at least had goals beyond Sasuke in her life. And while Sakura's warrior journey was as stilted as Kairi's she ultimately made more progress and more importantly earned progress. Ironically out of the trio in Naruto Sakura's warrior progress is the one we can see the most of (at least from the anime side in the manga they don't invest enough chapters for us to get much on any of the threes progress) But something the series Naruto does well for Sakura that KH does horribly for Kairi is personify her. With every episode of Naruto Sakura grows up. Matures. We get her starting personality quirks gradually phased out for new ones and they feel natural and befitting of Sakura rather than out of place. Especially so if you're watching more than reading it. And more so if you watched in real time. So many people hated on the filler but it had its purpose. Especially the filler that expanded the world of shinobi itself. Even now I'm one of those people who actively takes some days to watch Boruto once in a while (binge it) just to keep up with where its going and I'm surprised at how much the more relevant Konoha 12 and Sand Siblings continue to grow as characters.

Let's go further
Apprentice Terranort said that Radiant Garden would fall to Darkness. I'm betting on the possibility that the Heartless who would make that happen are Heartless from the Realm of Darkness, acting on their own, not ones controlled by someone. So he also saved Radiant Garden. Sure, the blow happened, but he made it be healed.
More, by putting all this in motion, he made Sora save all worlds from darkness. Sure, for a number of them, it was more or less his doing(even back in 1), but he just made the process accelerate. In fact, that too would count in him saving the worlds. Because the darkness would have destroyed the worlds at some point, with or without his intervention. (see the destiny islands in kh1, and Xehanort's heart could barely do anything, it was just the heart. It could only put the tracker on Sora in 3D).So he made Sora pass in the worlds at the most convenient moments, and if he didn't, the worlds would have gone to darkness, but at a time after the time Sora passed in.
All in all, I think we can conclude that Xehanort is the real hero here.

He KNEW that Aqua was in danger, yet after KH 1 he didn't search for her in the realm of darkness and when he got out in chain of memories he didn't mention this story to ANYONE up until the beginning of KH 3. Mickey knew that and didn't do that.

In terms of KH3 I can understand it, the fact that the KH3 and new content in this game are drastically different in style shows they most likely weren't done in-engine like they were in KH3 (as evidenced by them making new models for KH3 Sora in the final battle), in fact most of the cutscenes probably aren't, but for the KH3 content this is important, because that particular engine is known to have some serious compatibility issues with the Switch
Great timing after watching the whole Everything Wrong With Kingdom Hearts series
I swear there must be a contract somewhere in this series that says Kairi can't be the hero in any capacity, every time I have seen get into something she never gets to do anything about it and is always forced to rely on others to save her
When I played through this, seeing Kairi hold the Kingdom Key and morph into Sora made me irrationally angry and genuinely made me want to quit the series. But I've invested too many years into this franchise which I adore. From 14 years old to today, 31 years old. Please Nomura. We are getting old and tired.

You do realize that there will be no physical copies and it is being streamed to you through the internet, right? Don't bother with the Switch version until they port it natively.

FOR THE RECORD: the reason why there aren't many KH3 songs is because MoM production started during late development of Kh3, so apparently they didn't have time to put many songs from Kh3.

Also, Idk iirc, but I remember one being open by both in the Fantasia world. Unless it's because both Fantasia and Riku diving into Sora's dream happen at the Mysterious tower and so I would be mixing the memories🤔

13:38 Well it's not the first time a Disney mage spat in the face of the rules of the KH universe. Merlin made a door to the past that completely ignored the rules of time travel. Sure those rules didn't exist back then, but this was acknowledged by YoungNort so this wasn't retconned. Merlin can just time travel as he pleases. Going to the Final World doesn't seem that far-fetched in comparison. I mean, what's more outrageous? Teleporting into purgatory or completely ignoring the laws of the world to time travel. Even Sora had to face repercussions when he changed the course of time to save everyone by spitting in the face of the laws of the universe with the Power of Waking.
Can we just sin this game for being a recap instead of a yknow CONTINUATION

How cool would it be for there to be a Kingdom Hearts game where you explore the worlds of The Simpsons, Futurama, Gargoyles, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go, Gravity Falls, Gex, Epic Mickey, Mischief Makers, Dragon Quest, Family Guy, etc.

At the very least, explore the world of Epic Mickey. Since Kingdom Hearts is basically Final Fantasy x Disney, I feel like Dragon Quest should be left for a Kingdom Hearts clone series.

I never realized, even though playing all the story on Union Cross, the scenario of Malleficent in Hollow Bastion is the chamber of transporters of Union, and I only realized that now, just because the image in MoM was HD. HECK, i can barely say 9:29 is about the final bout with posessed riku
and only now I realized the slight conection of the two and the fact that maleficent has been holding the place that conects to digital world.......which would explain why she wanted the "data"

depending on what difficulty you play the song does follow the melody more than the beat. also keep in mind that the initial song loops one more time before the end of the level
