Wow. Joachim was pretty spicy. I’d always thought the Danish RF was pretty functional; apparently not entirely. It’s ugly to see family slagging each other off publicly. The one thing I know is that talking to the press never helps. Talk to each other and work it out privately!

Society’s children today feel they are entitled whether they are royals, wealthy, middle class, and poor. A grandmother who takes her grandchildren’s royal titles must have her reasons. She owes no explanation!
Prince Joachim and his wife should keep a dignified silence. He didn't say boo when the mother of his first two sons was stripped of her royal title . The Queen Margrethe II stated it had been a long time coming.
There is nothing undignified about anything Prince Joachim said about the removal of titles from his children. Given that his children do not receive any funding from the Danish government or taxpayers and the Danish royal family is not big at all, the stripping of these titles makes no sense, especially since Princess Benedikte (the Queen’s sister) is behind Prince Joachim’s children in the line of succession and her title isn’t being striped from her, which is a huge inconsistency. The matter of Prince Joachim’s first wife losing her title of princess is a wholly separate and unrelated matter and is not comparable to the titles being stripped from Joachim’s children. Alexandra’s loss of the princess title was a function of a divorce settlement, just as was the case with Princess Diana losing her HRH style upon her divorce. As such, there would be no reason for Joachim to publicly comment about his former wife losing her princess title, as she was involved in the divorce discussions and negotiations that led to the loss of that title. There were no surprises involved in Alexandra’s title loss. That’s All.
@@dorothygale1104 Princess Benedikte’s children are not prince and prinsesses of Denmark, but have their titles from princess Benedikte’s late husband Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. So no inconsistency there. Joachim’s two adult sons Nikolai and Felix used their titles to get jobs as models. There was also an incident where Nikolai was seen on an ad for carrenting. He had to be told that royals don’t do thst. He told a tale of being asked for selfie by the owner of the firm who used the selfie advertising. Nikolai used his title commercially, So now the children who has never had any royal obligations, are free to advertise and be bloggers
A lot of conflicting emotions and comments. I didn't see that one coming but when it was announced I had a bad feeling. Thank you, as always, for keeping us updated.
You did a great job reporting the news from Denmark. Respectful & wise, good to not avoid the topic. I keep HMQM & her family in my prayers. I appreciated the way you included all the charity work the other houses are doing, helps keep things positive. ✌🏼😊
They still have other Danish royal titles so I don’t understand why they are complaining. They are rich and live lifestyles that the average person won’t ever achieve. The Queen their grandmother is right and they can lead regular lives, if you can call living in a palace with servants regular.
Joachim kids do not have the same titles as before. And that is ok as his brother is going to be king on Januar 14, 2024 and the brother's kids are going to have the titles. They all live on the budget (tax payers in Denmark). Joachim wife could work but she does not want to.
I can understand the disappointment of Prince Joachim's family. Perhaps the queen is planning to abdicate and wants to settle matters from beforehand, so it won't weigh on the Crown Prince. These children should've been styled and titled count/countess from birth. That way, no grudges!
The father is a free loading brat. He wants to keep the titles for the perks for his kids . Let them work. His ex wive is still supported by the Crown.Enough.
It seems to me that the removal of the titles of Prince Joachim's children could and should have been handled with much more sensitivity. I am not saying they should retain their titles indefinitely, but surely this could have been done in a less hurtful way. Queen Margrethe does not seem like a person who would plunge her family into controversy for no good reason, so I have to wonder whether the suddenness of the announcement was due to circumstances that we, the public, do not know about.
All royal families have to be careful and frugal with their privileges and benefits given to them courtesy of taxpayers. Many people in the UK and Europe are struggling at the moment, as a result of extremely foolish policies of their leaders that have led to high energy costs and risks of dire economic consequences. Migration and immigration policies have created a fundamental change in support of inherited monarchies. They have to tread very carefully. My prediction is that foolish migration and immigration policies will result in many of the royal families being deposed.
Right decision. Joachim’s progeny should get proper jobs/careers and make their own way in world rather than living off the backs’ of taxpayers and treating them with concealed contempt in return. They are superfluous royals that the state doesn’t want or need.
@@JayArgonauts, I agree. The two older sons are models and monetise their titles. They are far down the line of succession, and they still have titles, I read about the Queen's decision was made months before. It is rude and ungrateful on their part to air their grievances against the Queen in public.
Well, since Queen Margarethe was just at the Queen’s funeral, it might have been Charles, saying he wanted to stream line the Monarchy, that gave her the Idea. 🤔

I get that monarchies are slimming down… however this could have been done through family discussions with everyone on board. Prince Joachim looks so sad…
All the grandchildren other than Prince Christian already knew they would have to be self supporting, like Prince Joachim is doing himself. Simply have the title Prince or Princess doesn't meant the government or monarchy supports you.
@@rocketmom60 That’s exactly what the Swedish monarch did. Apart from the Crown Princess Victoria , her spouse Prince Daniel and their heirs, the siblings and their offspring were taken off the Government payroll, but allowed to keep their titles.
Actually they will be styled Count then their first name then the Montepezet. He jumbled things by marrying twice and mixing up the family. They like things a bit ordered. Sadly this second son of the Danish royal family created a situation where his second family would be senior as the other two have a previous mother who no longer part of the royal household duties. Inevitably it would be confusing as the current leading wife has children in a new and current line. It could had been worse so they all were demoted.
I’ve read in several places that Prince Joachim is an unpleasant person and is not well liked in Denmark. Perhaps there was a peoples’ movement somewhat akin to the sentiments in the UK about removing Prince Harry’s titles? Just wondering….
You are wrong. Quite a lot of people sympathize with Prince Joachim. He has always said that he feels frustrated by having no formal role, no defined responsibilities as the 'spare' to the Crown Prince Frederik. The case in UK with Harry is different - he chose to leave the monarchy (because he was also frustrated with being a no-longer-useful spare as William has his own heir and spares too) as he saw no reason to hang around doing basically nothing but taking flak for his choice of wife.
@@MTMF.london no it's exactly the same.. The Princess Royal works her socks off to support the Monarchy as does Prince Edward and his wife. Wonder if this will have a knock on effect for the Greek Royal family. Even though They are no longer a reigning royal family, since their exile, they have still been allowed to keep, and pass down, royal titles. Queen Anne-Maria of Greece is the sister of Queen Margrethe, and therefore also passes, of Denmark, to her family. Her eldest son and his wife are styled as, HRH Crown Prince and Princess of Greece and Prince of Denmark. All four of their children are styled as HRH Princess Maria-Olympia, Prince Constantine-Alexio, Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odysseas-Kimon and Prince Aristidis-Stavros of Greece and Denmark. Are they going to loose Princes and Princess of Denmark. Seems wrong that they could keep it when the grand children of a actual reigning Monarch loose theirs.
The Greek royals are princes and princesses of Denmark through ex-king Constantine´s family. It is complicated, but they are not the same titles. Queen Margrethe can´t remove them.
I can see why the queen did this. Prince Joachim is too bitter and too eager to speak to the press. They have such loose lips for royals. But I dont blame themm for being mad, You are a royal prince and everyone bowing to you one minute and next you are straight up commoner. lol
Agree.. the job of Royalty is to be seen, but never heard. Cosying with the media just lets them show themselves up to be embarrassingly commonplace and undeserving of their privilege.
Prince Nikolai, in an ad campaign for the lux hotel Raffles, apparently crossed out Prince and replaced it with “just” Nikolai. Methinks he doth protest too much. Perhaps he should have a word with “just” Harry. I believe they’ve both been up to the same thing. Merching the monarchy.
It’s possible she wanted to preserve the monarchy in their country. If she didn’t do this the people in the country may have decided to remove the whole monarchy. It’s matter of tightening the proverbial belt. I’m sure the queen did it out of love.
How is stripping her grandchildren of their titles "saving the monarchy?" Prince Joaquim's children receive NO taxpayer money at all. How was it "hurting the monarchy to let them keep their titles?
@@kimberlytyrcha5930 Probably because it was seen that they are not representing the Monarch in a beneficial way to the country. Let Joachim have his tantrums..he should respect his mother better and maybe accept the decision
Well if we take the stated aim of allowing them to live a freer life without the restrictions of royalty then they should be content with the decision. Maybe "recollections will vary"?
@@clovergirlbrinkerhof9739 I heard that in may, he was informed that his children will be losing their titles when they turn 25. But I think the sudden statement about stripping their titles next year (when they're not even 25) is what made them shocked. I also heard that these children will lose their titles when they marry (was said by Prince felix and nikolai's mother's secretary I think) not really sure what's happening.
@@clovergirlbrinkerhof9739 Prince Joachim was presented with this model in May: to remove the children's titles when they turned 23. Then out of the blue came this decision: in 2023 ,,,,,,,
Queen Margaret of Denmark has 2 sons, Crownprince Frederik and Prince Joachim + their wives, each have 4 children that makes 12 princes/princesses of rather small country ( around 6.5 million ppl), That Joachims children looses their title doesnt worry many danes. since the 2 oldest didnt do more than a few weeks of service in the Military before finding it too hard, the oldest (Nikolaj) is now pursuing a career as a catwalk model.
Isn't it said, when their identity connected to be a "prince" or "princess" 5:38 I understand the bitterness of the father but I'm not impressed by him speaking up like this. He should support her children to understand the situation but his interview only makes them more confused.
Nicolai is 23 His younger brother Felix, 20, is also a runwaymodel. How can loosing a title beeing. Loss of identity? When ppl changes jobs they also loose titles. But identity? We dont need playboys.. Joachim has always been arrogant and pompous and takes after his dad, a French count, who believed that when Queen Margrete became queen then he would be King . He talked about Prince Phillip, Prince Claus and himself ought to be Kings. It does not work that way.
Your wrong. This has to do with identity and many danes my self included (I am danish and norwegan) feel, it was totally uncessary of Queen Margrete to strip them of their titles, since Joachims children loose their titles , when they get married. So why this unnessary humiliation of Prince Joachim? Queen Margrete has fired Prince Joachims family. She could have followed the procedure from Sweeden and Norway - the decendents keep their Prince and Princes titels. The damage is irreparable, it is irrevocably over between Joachims family and Queen Margrete. She´s her own worst enemy.
@@alicenielsen5304 It doesn’t matter if he is a runway model or a subway worker, whether you agree or not with the decision that title is all they have ever known and to be given 5 days notice of the change is incredibly disrespectful.
Prince Joachim's children are not being mistreated. They are not in the direct line of succession. Crown Prince Fredrick and Crown Princess Mary have 4 children that are the direct heirs to the throne. The Danish Queen is simply streamlining the Royal Family is all. Prince Joachim's children as well as himself are not in the direct line any longer and he is just acting like the Danish people owe his children a title and a pay check for life. That just isn't how it works any more.
Prince Frederik and Princess mary keep themselves and their children out of their own private income , They have a business which has made them into millionaires in their own right , and have only taken their allowance twice once in 2004 to pay towards their wedding , and once in 2010 to repair the roof, windows and heatinf system for their mini Palace in Copenhagen, which is Government property anyway..Prince Joachim however gets 500.000 Euros per year from the State , wheas Prince Frederik and his wife EARN millions of Krone for Denmark by promoting Danish businesses at home and abroad They earned 300 million dollars in Saudi Arabia about 4 years ago. Some Danish politicians were not pleased at first ,until they realised how effectively Prince Frederik had used his Royal Connections with the Saudi Goverrnment , who are mostly Royal Princes This year they have led a Trade delegation to the Netherlands , and are going to Vietnam in November. ---.See Prince Frederik's 2021 TV Documentary. --Crown Princess Mary was trained in this kind of work , before she became a Princess.
There is no such thing as a “direct line of succession”, which inherently implies there would be a corresponding indirect line of succession. There is simply a line of succession. Period. Prince Joachim’s children are indeed still in the line of succession behind Prince Joachim himself, just as they have always been and will always be. A title has no bearing at all on one’s place in the line of succession. Currently, Prince Joachim is 6th in the line of succession behind Crown Prince Frederik and his 4 children. Therefore, Prince Joachim’s children are 7th through 10th in the line of succession. Princess Benedikte, the Queen’s sister, is further down the line of succession than Prince Joachim’s children and, yet, her title isn’t being taken away, which is a huge inconsistency. Lastly, having the title of prince/princess does not in any way guaranty or establish any person holding such title an income from the government or taxpayers. Typically, only members of a royal family who perform royal duties on behalf of the monarch receive compensation for performing those duties and such compensation comes from the monarch, not the government or taxpayers. For example, in the UK, the monarch receives annual funding known as the Sovereign Grant, which is a set percentage of the income generated by the Crown Estate properties. It is from these funds that the monarch dispenses funds to members of the royal family who perform royal duties on behalf of the monarch (i.e.- working royals). Most of the members of the UK royal family who hold the title of prince/princess receive zero funding from the Sovereign grant, government, nor taxpayers. As it stands now, Prince Joachim’s children receive zero funding from the Danish government. In fact, his two oldest sons work as models and generate their own independent income. So, your claim in this regard is hugely false.
Prince Joachim's identity crisis is of a completely different, intrusive nature. The deprivation of the titles fundamentally intervenes in the continual rejections of him, personally. You have no knowlegde of the particulars of what he was subjugated to. He´s the only royal who really wants the job. He´s way more intelligent than his brother and he's rhetorically much stronger. He takes his responsibilities very seriously but was always relegated, to someone of minor importance. Until now, the Danish Monarchy has appeared as a rock of stability and unity, compared to the tumultuous conditions in Norway, Sweden, England and Spain. Let me assure you, It will be neither politicians nor the population that will pose the greatest threat to the danish Monarchy. It will be the Monarc herself. With the Queen's decision to strip Prince Joachim's four children of their prince and princess titles, the family is now thrown into the royal house's most serious crisis, since the Second World War. With regards to Prince Joachim in particular: Prince Joachim IS a working Royal. Joachim and Marie went to Paris in 2020, where prince Joachim took office as Denmark's new defense attaché. He retained his aparnage in Denmark (AS A WORKING ROYAL - YOU CANNOT RECEIVE IT UNLESS, YOUR A WORKING ROYAL) and therefore received no salary from the defense. Before the start, he suffered a brain haemorrhage, but recovered quickly and has garnered a lot of genuine recognition for his efforts in France. Several Danish business delegations, organizations and top defense personnel, who have been to meetings and conferences in France, which Joachim has planned, can report on a particularly committed and efficient prince with a great flair for politics and society. His job is a fixed-term position, which will expire shortly, but the expectation in the royal household was that Joachim's employment would be extended, and that he might subsequently obtain another post as a defense attache in, for example, London. But thats not gonna happend, because the Queen has decided differently. Prince Joachim has done nothing to deserve the ostracism, from the royal family. The Queen has fired his entire family. Why? Reference to the need for 'modernisation' cannot be compared to the situation in Norway, Sweden or England. In several of these countries, including your own country, young royals themselves chose to step down from the ranks. Joachim gets a vertical order. Why? In Sweeden Princes Madeleine´s and Prince Carl Phillip´s children retain their titles. So the question is: 1) Why create inequality between Prince Joachim's four children and Crown Prince Frederik's four children, who all retain the titles? 2) Why does the Queen open up internal trouble with a slap in Prince Joachims face, instead of negotiating the matter in place over a long period, if it was necessary. And why doesn't the Queen keep her family informed? Prince Joachim, Countess Alexandra, and Princess Marie, got the message 5 days ago. 3) Why change things without political demands or demands from the voters? With the decision in 2016 that only Prince Christian will receive appanage, all finances have been removed from the matter. So what's the problem, when most of the royal grandchildren will marry civilly and thus lose their royal titles? Whats the rush? Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix, the sons of Prince Joachim, did not behave inappropriately, they regretted their decision to join the military, which is their right. Should Prince Andrew also be stripped of his Royal title for behaving inappropriately? Should princess Beatrice and princess Eugenie lose their titles? Maybe its good news for some, that Queen Margrethe is ignoring prince Joachim, but the Queen will have to understand, that her primary task is to rally the troops. The family IS the institution, and the institution IS the family. The family is the primary task right now. It's about Denmark and the country's interests, and she has to keep the monarchy in good condition. She´s failing. It's not just business as usual. Prince Joachim, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix (Princes Athena is to young) have all made an irrevocable decision. Was is worth it?
Well written, - as a Dane I support HM our Queen 100%. We all gets titles throughout our lives , high as low in society. We also sometimes loose titles , especially if we don’t live up to our jobs, or our working place shifts politics and dismiss us. Same issues if it’s done now - as if when they turn 25. - Our Monarchy are an working institution.
@@FreeDustSpirits Rubbish... The Queen has treated her grandchildren ruthlessly. She had a courtier inform Prince Joachim 5 day in advance and cowardly she didn't even bother to sit down with her grandchildren and talk to them about her decision... A grandmother from hell, royal and not.
Perhaps the Prince should be quiet and stop disrespecting the Queen in public statements. The decision doesn't seem like a big deal but he has made it one by bringing his children into it. It will probably be best for them in the long run
Well, it is his children that are affected by the Queen's decision. May be she could have done it more diplomatically, properly discussed and reached an appropriate agreement for all.
Don't tell me he's going to be a 'victim' too. That's all the world needs - another disgruntled royal who doesn't realise that to survive, monarchies have to slim down and be relevant. The days of lots of princes and princesses who take the honours and privileges without giving anything back are gone.
This remains quite odd and we would have to read the entire document listing the changes. The reason I say that is because it seems that Danish-born Queen Anne-Marie of Greece & Princess of Denmark still has 5 children who carry the princely titles for Denmark and those are not being downgraded to more aristocratic titles. There is plenty of money & privilege for all of them without bloating the monarchy. However, there must be enough people to do the work of it, so long as the institution remains.
The Greek royals are princes and princesses of Denmark through ex-king Constantine´s family. It is complicated, but they are not the same titles. Queen Margrethe can´t remove them.
@@asbisi You are wholly incorrect about Queen Margarethe not being able to remove Danish titles from rhe Greek royals. As monarch, the Queen is rhe absolute authority on any and all Danish titles. Period. The Queen can’t take away the Greek titles from members of the Greek royal family, but she can take away their Danish titles. Separately, Princess Benedikte, the Queen’s sister, is further down the line of succession and behind Prince Joachim’s children, yet her title isn’t being taken away, which is a huge inconsistency.
I understand that Queen Margrethes decision is abit hard to swallow for prince Joachim and his children, but their very public negative statements show so little respect for the danish monarchy and queens rule, that it just makes me more certain it was the right decision. Prince Joachim has always come across as a touch more selfindulgent, haughty & “prideful” , than dutyful, humbled by - as well as proud of being a part of the monarchy. He performs hardly - if any royal duties especially after he moved to France with his second wife Marie and their 2 children a few years back and I can’t remember seeing his 2 older sons taking part in/performing/support their grandmother the queen or their uncle crown prince Frederik any royal duties…ever🤔 That branch of the family pretty much does what they please and only turn up for holidays, “fun events” & partys🤷🏻♀. So yup. I fully support Queen Margrethes sensible decision to set them free from “royal bonds” to continue doing what they please..
Joachim is just hurt for his children. Give him a break. He has a full time job as defense attaché in the Danish Embassy in France. While Marie is a Special Cultural Representative in the embassy too. His two older boys work as model in the fashion industry. They all work, except for the younger kids, of course, who are still at school.
I am wondering if there could not have been a more sensitive way to handle this as per the Queen. I understand the need for a slimmed down monarchy but to take away titles already bestowed on children so publicly, is curious. King Charles would be wise to not issue titles to the Markle children to begin with. As he also wants a slimmed down monarchy.
His wife Marie said about them staying in Paris: "Sometimes you have no choice" - indicating that it was not of their own choice to be sent of to Paris. Rumors also indicate that their son, Henrik is being bullied at school. As far as I know, Joachim and Marie would love to go back to Denmark and work as royals. But for some reason, they are not allowed to.
I think these problems with the royal families and their disgruntled "spares" is going to make royal families think twice about having large families. Far too many problems are emerging with the "spares" jockeying for power for themselves and their children. They want to be supported by the monarchy, but when the numbers of "spares" far exceed taxpayers' contributions to support the monarchy, then something has to give here. Lesson: Royal families should immediately insist that "spares" and their families are educated and prepared to tackle life with an occupation/profession. This way, they would be able to support themselves and their families----not too much of a stretch to ask of them when we ordinary folk must do that every day of our lives.
I believe Prince Joachim has always had a career in the military. The problem with the spares is that they are necessary up to the moment the heir has a child. At that point spares become a nuisance, a problem, an inconvenience, and they treated accordingly. In old times when they could be executed it was easier for the monarchy.
Sounds reminiscent of the spare and his wife from the UK. Seems the younger royals don't want to work but want the perks and money. If they are not working royals then why should the people have to pay for their frivilous spending. Let them earn their money and find out what life is like for the common man.

As I like to see news about the different European Monarchies, and I saw the wedding of Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, I was pleased to hear the news on this UA-cam channel that Prince Guillaume's wife Princess Stephanie was pregnant with their second child. . Congratulations to the Royal couple .
Many of the problems with modern monarchies result from royals who are entitled spoiled brats and who do not serve their countries. Prince Nikolai dropped out of military training after two months because he felt that it did not suit him. A prince who does not serve in his country's military due to non-medical reasons based on feelings does not deserve to be a prince. In the past, his behavior would have been viewed as cowardly and dishonorable. In his case, this was deserved. I do have sympathies for his younger middle school aged half-brother and half-sister.
No wonder Queen Margrethe send him with his family to live in Paris /🇫🇷. Crown 👑 Prince Frederick, Crown Princess Mary, their 4 children are protected by his mother and their grandmother the Queen Margrethe.
No, but the country is a monarchy (even if it's only a constitutional one) and they did not choose to be born into the royal family. They ARE prince/princess by birth right so long as there is a monarchy. They had no other identity other than that and now it is taken away without apparent considerations for personal feelings. They are humans too.
How beautiful are the Royal families of Europe and England and the you have Meghan Markle from LA perhaps she could take a few lessons on Class Dignity and how to be a Lady. Some one should tell Meghan Markle That being a Drama queen is not a Royal title.
Looks as if Prince Albert either needs a new tailor or a personal fitness guru. Bless him, he does so much good. The West could probably learn a thing or two about successful leadership skills from him.

@@menchualcarazmoreno1743 that's because the Danish media has never been cruel to prince joachim and his family. They have never suffered and bullying from the media the way Meghan has ever since she married Harry.
Seems rather unfair to strip existing titles from grandchildren. I get the queen's intentions, however, like her British counterparts, Denmark should have preserved those currently in possession of their titles and instead made changes going forth with new generations yet unborn.
I understand that Joachim's sons are living in USA? They are pursuing careers as models. No Royal should be able to use the titles which are given as representing the Monarch
@@twoofsix3b3g No, they are not living in the US. One of them is studying for a term at university in the US. Royal titles are not 'given' - they are birth-right of the children of the monarch. It is an hereditary title, characteristic of a monarchy.
You are right ! This would apply to the grandchildren of Prince Vincent, Princesses Isabella and Josephine as well as Prince Joachim's children and grand children Prince Christian's children will all be Princes/Princesses as Prince Christian will be Crown Prince once his father becomes King. In Sweden , the children of Prince Karl Philippe have kept the title Prince but have lost their HRH titles.. Princess Madeleine refused titles for her children as they live in Florida , and presumably are being educated in English.
The world may see more of this coming from Royal Houses. Seems to be the right move from a sustainable, economic point of view. That's where the world is at...sustainable development. Sadly one can see how these young Royals of Denmark as well as their father, have no understanding of what that concept entails.
I think Joachim understand better than his party boy of brother. Plus the titles doesn't mean money from public purse, so i don't understand why the Queen has done this.
I heard that these children will lose their titles when they marry. So they could have waited a bit longer. Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix are already in their 20s. So they could have waited a bit longer. They're not working royals too I think that's also another reason why their titles are being stripped. What I don't get is Prince Henrik and Princess Athena losing their titles. They're so young and have not even decided whether they will be a working royal or not. Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix quitted military training because they realized that wasn't for them. Anyway, I'm not really sure what's happening. Prince Jochaim said he was informed in May that his children will lose their titles when they turn 25. I think they're sad, disappointed and shocked because they're going to lose it next year (Prince Nikolai is not even 25 yet) so I think that's why they're sad about it. No matter what we say, they were born as Princes/Princesses, so suddenly to lose that title must be very hard for them. Everyone address them as Prince/Princess so it must be quite hard to get used to the idea. There are mixed reactions towards this news. Some are praising the queen and some are feeling sympathy towards Prince Jochaim's children. I think Queen's decision is okay. But the way it delivered was not a good way. Like, I said before they might have known that they'll be losing their titles when they're 25 but the sudden news is what made them disappointed. I would be too if I was them. Anyway, I hope the best for the children of Prince Jochaim. It's thanks to Prince Felix and Prince Nikolai, I got to know about Denmark Royal Family. Dunno if these two brothers are popular in Denmark. (Everyone must know them but not sure about the popularity) but they're very popular internationally. 🥰❤️ Love them a lot. Now the decision has taken and made it to public, there's no turning back. But I hope all the best for these four young children. 🥰❤️
Prince Joachim should be the first in obeying and accepting the Queen's will; isn't it consubstancial to the notion of Royalty ? Perhaps he should be stripped of his titles as well.
These European royal spares need to get some education and credentials and quit making so much ridiculous noise about being maltreated or mentally abused by official decisions.
It's understandable to trim HRH from a growing brood. It should only be King, Queen & first born. Bit ridiculous to have a balcony full of HRH folks. Congratulations to the Queen! 🇺🇲
William and Harry loved to party at that age too! Have you seen those wild pics of William and Harry? 😄 I remember a naked Harry in Vegas. The Danish princes can work as models. They're not the heir and spare.
To Prince Joachim: titles are just getting used to, anyway blood is thicker than water, so whatever titles you have you still belong to a ROYAL FAMILY. Just support your Queen mother, I always admire your family . . . you are so beautiful with or without titles.
Joachim reminds me of Harry. Blurting out his feelings without consideration of the implications or thought of the consequences. His children live in France and do no work for the country of Denmark. Why do they need titles? And to describe the children as "mistreated" and having "lost their identity" is hyperbole of the highest order. His oldest sons have used their Prince titles in advertisements and made money. They are also modeling on the runway. The youngest children are being raised in France, similar to how Harry's children are being raised in the United States. How can you be a Prince or Princess of Denmark, when you dont live in Denmark, nor do work on behalf of Denmark? Joachim needs to button his lip.
Joachim has a full time job as defense attaché in the Danish Embassy in France. While Marie is a Special Cultural Representative in the embassy too. The children are to lose their title once they get married. But the Queen decided to strip them of their titles early. And nothing wrong with working as models, other royals from different Royal House have members who work as model too.
His brother is about to become a king. So, the queen has done it good. Joachim and his family can have a good life but they are now insignificant regarding the throne.
It is the other way round as Princess Marie does not like Crown Prince Frederik's wife, according to numerous Press reports. Crown Princess Mary comes over as a lovely person , in her TV documentary in January 2022.
Money and glories are fleeting....Joaquin, you have a beautiful family and a big heart ....In this time of so much uncertainty , it in better to live with the peace that a duty fulfilled gives you...Go ahead, Joaquin ....it is better gave your own life ....beautiful your wife and children ....hug them...it is the best gift from God
Well, it does seem a tad brusque to snatch away their titles . Why not simply apply the new thinking to all future children allowing these four to keep titles ? I hope upon deeper reflection queen Margrethe can find a way to do this and still save face.
It would be interesting to know when Prince Frederik becomes King, will he follow suit and not give titles to future children of his other children (Isabella, Vincent and Josephine) other than his heir apparent and next -in-line, Prince Christian. Surely Prince Christian will eventually have his own heir and spare.
The Age of Entitlement is fading for most monarchies world wide. It seems that the complaining, ingratitude and jet-set lifestyles is hastening it's demise...and a good thing too...
Nicholai and Felix are models. I think that the monarchy in Europe is becoming difficult to justify anymore. What also comes with the Prince and Princess titles is money from the Danish government. All these different titles, monies are paid. The Swedish King did something similar, they are still Prince and Princess, he removed HRH, so they are able to do other projects. Princess Madeline and her children live in California and she comes over to do events. It has been also rumoured that William and Kate are preparing their other children, Charlotte and Louis for half in half out roles in the future. Wales is having a demonstration over the “Prince of Wales’ title, this Saturday. We also have in the UK, Duchy of Lancaster, which goes to King Charles and Duchy of Cornwall, which goes to William as he is the monarch’s heir, King Charles managed it very well, it is now worst over a billion pounds. Both the Duchies, no inheritance tax is paid. Very interesting times indeed. Thank you for your report. Keep well and safe.
@ Valerie...you are exactly right about what titles of Prince and Princess is money coming from the Danish government...that is why the Royals are making the Monarchy smaller, plus in these difficult times, its good that they learn how to live without these titles...they can do anything they want, it surprised me more to see the negative reactions towards the Queen...she is doing what is best to save the Monarchy and to get her grandchildren a little more into working Royals...times are changing, many want it demolish..I hope they have a little more respect for the Queen...be a little more humble!!!
the grandchildren and their father are confused and saddened bec they are so attached to the prince and princess titles that they have taken for granted as their birthright just bec they exist... and not at the pleasure and discretion of the reigning monarch..
It’s really sad that the Danish royal court did not communicate effectively with Prince Joachim. Ultimately the Queen has the last say but it’s evident the royal court preplanned this and did not include the people it would affect. I feel for Prince Joachim and his family.
@@nonni139 People dying in Ukraine (and elsewhere) has nothing to do with Prince Joachim or the whole of Danish Monarchy. Even if they didn't exist, the people in Ukraine would still be dying because of PUTIN. Don't conflate the two.
I absolutely can NOT believe Queen Rania of Jordan is 50! She is absolutely gorgeous and I love how she epowers the women of Jordan to pursue schooling, have a career-even if it is from home.
I heard that they live mostly in Paris and the sons are catwalk models.they do not contribute anything to the country so why should they get all the perks just because they have titles. The above was one of the reasons why the titles were removed but they have not mentioned any of this.
I'm not usually fond of people who moan about their titles, but in this instance it's hard not to be sympathetic to Prince Joachim's children. There were so many ways this could have been handled better - for one thing, they could have been given much more notice. The original plan that Joachim mentioned also sounds like a much more considerate option. The kids haven't been causing havoc and scandals have they, so why the rush? It's easy to see why they would feel like they are being punished, even if the queen says otherwise. I don't know how she's going to repair her relationship with Joachim and the kids after this.
Lige præcis. Prince Joachims is devasted because this had to do with his identity. It speaks right into his feelings of being rejected, disavowed, scrutinized , wrecked......He is intellectually and rhetorically more advanced than his brother, he takes his royal status very very serious. He´s the only one who really wanted the job. He had to carve out his own career and thats difficult. The Queen gave those titles to his children. Prince Nikolajs pasport says Prince Nikolaj. Its compeltely unnessary to humilate Prince Joachim like that. Whern they marry , they loose their titles anyway. So whats the rush?
The Queen of Denmark acted like a true monarch and the needs of the nation, fast changing circumstances and negotiations which have been ongoing for some time, indicate to me exactly what she said, that she is future proofing the monarchy, it's her absolute prerogative to raise up or put down any member of the aristocracy and her son should be strongly reprimanded or punished with the removal of his own titles, for daring to question her judgement and the judgement of her ministers .
If they are expected to work as a Royal, I dont understand why she felt it necessary to remove titles. Are they being cast out? Doesn't this put more pressue on the four children by Frederik?
Wow. Joachim was pretty spicy. I’d always thought the Danish RF was pretty functional; apparently not entirely. It’s ugly to see family slagging each other off publicly. The one thing I know is that talking to the press never helps. Talk to each other and work it out privately!

You're well spoken. I find it interesting to know about the royal families of Europe .
Thank You.
I think Joachim is a bit like his father, who by all accounts, was not that pleasant.

She is most certainly not abdicating. She has stated several times "I stay on my perch until I fall off".
The question, they were not. They were born with this tittles, the correct way was to strim for the future.
I agree it should have been done from birth. But Nikolai was “merching” his title, so he brought it on them.
Their titles were a gift they disrespected and exploited. A gift that can obviously be rescinded.👊
@@genxx2724And his siblings under age are guilty of merching too?
The father is a free loading brat. He wants to keep the titles for the perks for his kids . Let them work. His ex wive is still supported by the Crown.Enough.
It seems to me that the removal of the titles of Prince Joachim's children could and should have been handled with much more sensitivity. I am not saying they should retain their titles indefinitely, but surely this could have been done in a less hurtful way. Queen Margrethe does not seem like a person who would plunge her family into controversy for no good reason, so I have to wonder whether the suddenness of the announcement was due to circumstances that we, the public, do not know about.
She returned from the U.K. and discovered she had COVID. It’s probably not the time to make decisions.
I'm sure the decree wasn't done dilly dally... Joachim insisted to live away from Denmark.
It has been said this was discussed since May!!
I agree it could have been done more sensitively. It’s sad for the grandchildren but not as big an issue as the Prince is making out.
They’re “punished” omg to these people are sooooo nauseatingly entitled 🇺🇸

Prince Joachim needs to tone down his rhetoric. It is the Queen's decision. I have to think there is more to this story then the public is being told.
So why the queen remove herself from being a queen?
I agree. He should be supporting the decisions of the monarchy in public even if he doesn't necessarily agree with them in private..
All the grandchildren other than Prince Christian already knew they would have to be self supporting, like Prince Joachim is doing himself. Simply have the title Prince or Princess doesn't meant the government or monarchy supports you.

He seems an unpleasant, snobbish and entitled person. And no, he is not particularly popular.
Harry is no support to his family or William.. just eaten up with envy wants to cash in on connection with Royalty but does not want to do the boring bits

Nope, because their royal titles to Denmark is inherited from King Konstatin who was a member of the danish royal family before marrieng Anne-Marie.
The Greek royals titles are not within Queen's Margrethe's prerogatives, in my view.
"Modelling" ...that doesn't exactly show taking interest in the monarchy. I'm sure there are jobs he could have taken up in support of the monarchy.

Prince Joachim's children do not receive a pay check from Danish tax payers
The Danish Queen has not taken anything away from her grand children, she has given them more freedom.
You dont know the particulars.
Wouldn't it be a parent's job to prepare his children for the changes? Change invokes emotions and it takes time to move forward.
Well written, - as a Dane I support HM our Queen 100%.
We all gets titles throughout our lives , high as low in society.

Don't tell me he's going to be a 'victim' too. That's all the world needs - another disgruntled royal who doesn't realise that to survive, monarchies have to slim down and be relevant. The days of lots of princes and princesses who take the honours and privileges without giving anything back are gone.
I think they'll all be able to make do with their new titles. Many of us have been able to make do with much less.
It’s because their titles a inherited from King Konstatins connection to the danish royalty and not Anne-Maries connection.
@@dorothygale1104 Princess Benedikte recieves appanage. She's a working royal.
He performs hardly - if any royal duties especially after he moved to France with his second wife Marie and their 2 children a few years back and I can’t remember seeing his 2 older sons taking part in/performing/support their grandmother the queen or their uncle crown prince Frederik any royal duties…ever🤔
That branch of the family pretty much does what they please and only turn up for holidays, “fun events” & partys🤷🏻♀.
Something stinks in Paris eh, Joachim. Perhaps you should have checked in w/Denmark more...
@@ginam4387 The Prince and Princess of Wales are trying to raise Princess Charlotte as a supporter of Prince George.
Denmark: His whinging about this issue is exactly why the decision was the correct one

No, but the country is a monarchy (even if it's only a constitutional one) and they did not choose to be born into the royal family. They ARE prince/princess by birth right so long as there is a monarchy. They had no other identity other than that and now it is taken away without apparent considerations for personal feelings. They are humans too.
actually…it is an hereditary right
It is 100% a hereditary right but the Sovereign is the font of all titles and honours and Her Majesty can give and take those titles away at her will.
actually the reverse is true, royal and nobility titles are basically birthright
Let them get a job
How beautiful are the Royal families of Europe and England and the you have Meghan Markle from LA perhaps she could take a few lessons on Class Dignity and how to be a Lady. Some one should tell Meghan Markle That being a Drama queen is not a Royal title.
Looks as if Prince Albert either needs a new tailor or a personal fitness guru. Bless him, he does so much good. The West could probably learn a thing or two about successful leadership skills from him.
God save Her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark. She is brilliant in her move to remove the titles as she has done. She is making sure that a Harry and Meghan catastrophe NEVER happens in Denmark.

Thanks!

Identity taken from them? What nonsense !! Just a title no more than that.
CHANGE WITH THE TIDE😊😊😊😊😚😚😉😉😉😉

She is not an absolute monarch.
If you do not participate in royal activities and would rather be a model, so be it. Bye bye.
It's not being miss treated...they must just go work and earn a living like billions of other people...
Joachim has always seemed a sour and jealous spare. Like who?
Oh no, he was never jealous. He is just very aware of his heritage and a true snob.
His kids are models and love to party. Not royal material.
I understand that we live in a modern world, but working as a model is a dream job that is expected of a prince by the elder royal and the government.
Spare Prince better be glad she's not making him a Count or Earl!!!!

It's like ripping off a bandage. Best way to do it.
I think there are very few people who feels sympathy towards this entitled whining family.
