My First memory of this song is literally being entertained on a school bus with the call and response. Probably about 1995. Its mind blowing to learn that was the songs original intent.
I loved it when I found a copy of this song on a 45rpm record! Since then I also got BNLs "Original Hits Original Stars" on vinyl which has this song and so many other great songs!
I remember stumbling out of the Horseshoe one day and bumping into Ed with his acoustic and Jim with that big ass standup bass, the two justa buskin’ away in some Queen St. store front, one of those sheltered ones, where the front door is recessed, it was winter after all...I listened to them for a time, what a hoot, then gave ’em a ten spot and some hash too I think and said “youze guys are gonna be big some day”. Look at me Colonel Parker then. The rest be history. Still have that yellow tape too, the “rare” one. Say what you want about the Ladies, hard working musicians who paid their dues and made it.
I have just discovered the entire Behind The Vinyl series....so many memories explained and (I'm smiling at all the music) ...so very ...perfect. thank you
Saw them in Toronto at their beginning..........Perfect song for a live performance......You have to be there to understand what is "crowed participation" :-)
A younger coworker of mine commented that she liked my green dress I wore that day. I showed my age when I told her it wasn’t a real green dress “ ‘cause that’s cruel”.
Great conversation. I first saw BNL in Sault Ste Marie in 1991. The Yellow Tape was being sold off the stage. The Waltons opened. I remember Manchu Wok being part of the improv. Still a massive fan to this day. But I do miss Steve being part of the group. I wish both BNL and Steve the biggest of successes and I hope that the Big Bang Theory stuff gets sorted out soon, and that the band reunites for at least one more time.
I could never really take this band seriously being in Toronto in a band myself in the 90s. Then again, life's not supposed to be serious all the time.
I have to believe the large amount of money they would make for a reunion tour will bring them together. It happens so much in popular music its cliche. C'mon boys!
Page was the main ingredient of the Barenaked ladies just like yeast is the main ingredient of bread. In each case if you remove the main ingredient all you have is a flop.
MOST ANNOYING SONG EVER. I hear it every time i go to my goodwill. Which is where it belongs like someone discarded it to a dusty forgotten hell of unwanted junk.

I love Tyler. Hilarious. Rock-Solid drummer.
"Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep At The Wheel" is my favorite BNL song also!
Still a totally awesome song

Great song and band
I always loved this song too, Ed! And I have enjoyed it at several BNL concerts!

Great video
Great, now I'm craving Kraft Dinner, thanks.
"We wouldn't have to eat Kraft dinner..."
"But we would! We'd just eat more!"

I'm not sure where 97.3 is based out of.. I live in Texas.. But this segment is a great idea.. I love it! Thank you guys
Toronto

So... would that be like the BNL version of New Orleans is Sinking?
Very cool I loved this song too bad page wasn't there too
Unknown fact: Ed has a really cool, full backpiece tattoo! True story.
BNL is more than Stephen Page, but BNL isn't BNL without Stephen Page.
A fruit roll-up?
Aren't you gonna eat it?
Oh christ!
epic.
Ed should be having this conversation with Steve... It's just as simple as that 😕
I agree. As much as Tyler is a part of the song. This was Ed and Steven's connection moment.
I have to believe the large amount of money they would make for a reunion tour will bring them together. It happens so much in popular music its cliche. C'mon boys!
This song is iconic to me because I retired from Kraft Foods where I made 1 billion servings of mac n' cheese. The Canadian version is superior, btw.
"If I Had a Thousand Thousand Dollars"? No, I don't remember this title.
Somethings missing! They try their damndest not to mention Steven’s name.
It’s kind of like Supertramp without Roger Hodgson. But Supertramp is WAY more awesome.
Time to get Page back.
Tyler trying to look like the Canadian Cee Lo.
Page was the main ingredient of the Barenaked ladies just like yeast is the main ingredient of bread. In each case if you remove the main ingredient all you have is a flop.
Barenaked Ladies is Steven Page without him it's just a bunch of guys singing Barenaked Ladies songs
Probably tough being Ed. No matter how good he is he will always be known as the guy who's voice isn't as good as Page's
If I never hear this again it'll still be too soon.....next
Ed seems like one of those guys who think they are just a little more special than their talent can back up.
Ed isn't everyone's cup of tea. He tries his best on this journey called life and I back him 100 %.
...except he can back it up.
Most overplayed song ever
Did Ed ever pay the band for Big Bang theme song theft? Ed, I thought liked you but not so much

Agreed. This segment almost soured me on the Behind The Vinyl.
