  • The day was marked by torrential rain, our sea kayaking trip cancelled, but we were able to visit Doubtful Sound in all its glory with literally thousands of waterfalls because of the rain. We also learned how to handle the sandflies that plagued us on our Kepler Track backpacking trip thanks to our helpful bus driver. On our way to Doubtful Sound we also crossed Lake Manapouri, New Zealand's second deepest lake and home to it's largest hydroelectric plant.

Excellent work....photography and sound! You can keep your sand flies.....I've met them before at Milford and they were kind enough to have me for lunch

As a child, I loved to read books about English sailors. And then I saw it in reality. Amazing. I also swam a lot along the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka and saw the same beauty, this element.
