You don't have to be Catholic to love these beautiful voices in harmony! BTW, I love the illustration, Jesus looks rather judgmental. As He should, I might add.
what i also learned was that the more complex the recitation and structure of the sung mass, and the choirs being the dominant voices, the less the congregation was involved, and they became engrossed in saying the rosary, reading, or just enjoying the music instead of being there to "celebrate" the mass with the clergy. which is why the conundrum today, the music is beautiful, the liturgy in latin, but the novus ordo, as common as it may seem, brings the congregation back into participation. somehow we need to combine the two ways of being at mass, maybe teaching the congregation to sing the way the choirs did. who knows. but an answers needs to be found.
Insightful. Thanks for penning it down. Maybe it’s good to just focus on the rosary while soaking in the beautiful choir music. Just my personal preference. Participatory mass or contemplative mass….
any answer in the novus ordo has yet to be found. The intention may have been to bring the congregation into participation, but by the time the chiselers got done chipping away at the Mass, there was not much left to participate in.
@@erikriza7165 what do you dislike. ? nobody in the congregation participated in the latin mass i grew up in. except to go to communion. period. . i find myself watching carefully the whole thing. and responding and if done in latin, yes i could even do that. the mass book i took to spain with me had the mass in 9 languages and latin. when we were in spain, the NO was done in spanish, english and latin. the pop versions, guitar versions and other newer renditions of the music, i don't particularly like, but then i go to a benedictine retreat center. there are really good NO being celebrated. so what are you missing or disgruntled about??
@@leylinegoddess Thanks for your message. I think we are closer then we think. What i dislike most nowadays are three things. Mainly, the music. Many of modern songs are insipid and man-centered. Over use of microphones by some singer. One person singing into a microphone while the congregation if singing makes it impossible for the people to sing, because they cannot hear each other. Moreover, the modern music in the disposable missalettes is all keyed to sopranos. Men are excluded before we start. The other two are the massive erosion of faith and piety. Many people, for me, are irreverent and too casual. I loved the NOvus Ordo when i was at a Benedictine College, and everything was run by the Monks. Their Masses were inspiring and beautiful. The actual Antiphons and chanted psalm verses. And the parts of the Mass. Not so many hymns (or songs) The music was rich and had some depth. It was Scriptural. IN addition, They did things in such a way that it looked like what they were doing in choir and in the Sanctuary was important. As for the old days, from the time i was in third grade, i had a Missal, and i knew how to follow the Mass and pray what the priest was praying. I was an Altar Boy, and so knew a bit of Latin words.

Beautiful music, excellently performed. Please don't use AI to write your introductions though. The English is unnatural, and the translation poor.: Primo tuono doesn't mean "First Thunder" but "First Tone".
Once Rome was conquered and the persecution ended the Church built beautiful churches and cathedrals, an amazing liturgy and music all to worship and honor God. The One True Church never sought to worship God like during the persecution.
@@MacheteMambi Wrong, you post nonsense. All ancient Churches use MONOPHON ACAPELLA CHANT: ORTHODOX CHURCH, ORIENTAL CHURCHES,.... For the Holy Fathers Instruments have been pagan. @alexpanagiotis4706 what Church are you talking about? Schismatic? Heretics? We are Roman Catholic. Unam, sanctam, catholicam et apostolicam Ecclesiam! We do not follow Luther, a heretic, nor do we follow Orthodox. Schismatic. We follow the Magisterium and the duly based guidance of The Roman Pontiff.
@alexpanagiotis4706 The Holy Catholic Apostolic Church was established by Jesus Christ himself. As of July 2024, there have been 266 popes in the history of the Roman Catholic Church going back to St Peter the first Pope. This count includes the current pope, Pope Francis, who was elected in 2013. Brush up on your research. Not sure what cult you belong to but wake up.

Early Church music was always monophon and ACAPELLA.
