this is why a living anti fascist movement is very important
Anti-fascist is not sufficient. It must be socialist. A group who only fights against something is weak, but if they have something to fight FOR, they can change the world.
@@dr.zoidberg8666 yup! true. And any turbo capitalist that says otherwise, need only look to the US. It was only when it was threatend that it join the war to fight nazi-germany. Its truly sad to see what happens in the US now. And inn regards to the US we can only hope that Marx was right.
@@dr.zoidberg8666they are fighting for something: no fascists.
I don't think you'd find many anti fascist who seek power beyond what's needed to get rid of fascists
@@dr.zoidberg8666 we are inherently socialist doc. I’m sure there are a few who aren’t but the overwhelming majority of us are.
Also, fighting the fash IS something to fight for, as the previous commenter pointed out.
That's true, any form of leftist movement is a good thing in general, but more importantly, what's your opinion on deponia doomsday
Pretty dope for him to face him. And yeah, props to this president.
Props to the president for probably staging a coup? Idiot.
Fascists: "We want a strongman leader!"
President Luis Arce: "Hold my beer!"
Fascists: "No, not that kind of strongman!"
Pres. Arce.: don't tell anyone the coup is staged.

Unions: "Suck it up, losers!"
How do you even fail a coup attempt in South America?
@@Houtont If it's fake.
Wonder if the CIA had their grubby hands in this one aswell...
Of course
Apparently not. It is reportedly more the result of a resentful commander who abused his authority to throw a temper tantrum after he was fired. Even the supporters of the 2019 coup immediately distanced themselves from him.
I will bet all of my money that this is the case.
If they did, they're completely useless. It lasted like 2hrs, the MPs didn't seem to know what was going on, now he's telling AP that the reason was Evo Morales "politically attacked" him over the economy, and how he wants to "diversify" the economy with "white gold," the lithium. Which seems like shit the CIA would want.. idk.
Don’t they always, always do…70 years of it!!
We all need leaders with moral courage.
Great news service!
This coup was repulsed because the government had the support of the majority of the people and they don't support the oligarchs. This coup attempt reminds me of the one in Venezuela that tried to topple Hugo Chavez. The people, especially the poor who benefited from Chavez's policies, helped repulse that coup. Something similar happened when the USA tried to oust Maduro.
And that coup attempted in Venezuela was a coup that was guided and supported by the USA i might add!!!
The support is necessary but not sufficient, its organization that makes the difference
Maduro doesn’t enjoy the popular support of the people or have the democratic legitimacy of Hugo Chavez, he’s a authoritarian Marxist-Leninist.
People did go to the streets yes, I wouldnt say its because the government has the support of the majority of the people, rather that the majority of people were against the coup itself. Even the political prisoners that were going to get released if the coup succeeded, denounced it while it was happening. As for the popularity of the government, they had 55% last elections, we are experiencing high levels of inflation and there are constant protests, the next elections are in a coming up, will see what happends then.
Is 55% not a majority now?@@GijZagevent
Capitalist central planning is top down instead of bottom up, because the _objective_ for which the efficiency is desired is enriching the boss(es) at the expense of the workers.
Big balls president, its not my country but its a very inspirational image like something out of a movie.
Even conservatives in Bolivia were against the coup that’s wild
Bolivian General: We're gonna stage a coup.
Luis Arce: No.
General: Understandable have a nice day.
This was incredible to watch. The Bolivian President had a lot of courage that General down, and it’s probably because he knew he had the support of the Bolivian people on his side!
It's important to remember too that virtually every country immediately condemned the attempted coup exept:
1- the Biden administration. The White House national security spokeperson only declared "The United States is closely monitoring the situation in Bolivia and urges calm and restraint."
2- Milei in Argentina.
Truly fearless. I hope they all face righteous justice.
What's the penalty for treason in Bolivia? NVM I looked it up. It's 30 years without pardon.
Why would he fear what he himself faked? As to punishment? Nothing! Same dudes went right back to work after the staged fake to boost his popularity among idiots like you.
@@kushclarkkent6669that general is going to be a pro at bouncing rubber balls off the wall
@@Hitman12. Ha! Hope it was worth it to get to look cool for a few minutes! Arce is a legend.
The problem with planning a coup is this: all the regular foot soldiers, they come from ordinary people. And they all got calls from their family asking them who's side they are one.
Anyway, that took some guts by the president.
He pulled a Napoleon on those troops.
Bro the people chasing the cops is so fuckin badass 😂😂😂
Something you will never see in the US. It's actually kind of normal in Global South countries. And Americans say they have all the balls in the world, but are too chicken to do this. Even the so-called left wouldn't ever do this. They would explicitly excommunicate any real leftist who would suggest such a tactic.

3:46 "run away......run away!"
I've notice the news talk about economic crisis and inflation, but Bolivia's inflation rate is 2.66% and the GDP growth is over 5%. Now I know that doesn't mean for the every day Bolivian everything is going well but it is a bizarre nareative for the news media to spin. When these would be the meteics they'd normally use to say everything is great.
The official exchange government rate for us dollars barely ever changes, its currently 6.86-6.96. The exchange rate on the streets (Boloviano Blue) is currently 9.17-9.21. There are constant protests here in La Paz and there is a shortage of dollars, meaning everyday merchants are having trouble buying their products to sell. Things are not great.
Found the CIA agent. Who is getting the bollocking for this coupe failing? I bet the vibes at the office feel real bad right now.
Those military organisations don't have the right to exist!
Starting about 2 or 3 weeks before this coup attempt, Elon Musk was advertising very heavily for investors in a new Lithium mining company. Bolivia has *huge* lithium deposits. Coincidence? I think he knew this coup was coming.

I heard weird conflicting remarks on this shit, the general tried to blame the president saying he told him to do it lol though I don't think we should belive the guy who just tried to hold a coup.
Considering Bolivia's past, I think the theory that Arce was behind this is much more possible than we'd like to believe. Seeing what we want to see isn't the same as seeing the truth.
@@gngrphyr Bolivia's history is that it's faced more coups than any other country since 1950. Not exactly a past that would make me doubt a coup attempt could be real.

Yeah, you realise MAGA are the Fascists right?
Or are you saying MAGA is a left wing group?
His people helped organize the coup, just like they directed the beatings, arrests, and expulsions at Columbia University. (Shafik is one of his kind of people.) What do you mean, "take note" anyway? Are you seriously suggesting either that he wouldn't be happy with Arce gone, or, more ridiculously, are you suggesting that he could ever stand up to a crowd of MAGA fascists? JFC, he needs his wife to help him get up and down stairs. He trips on carpet. He needs a podium to stay standing up. How the heck is he going to face down fascists?
@@Apostate1970 LOL So your solution is to surrender?

The text I sent my friend:
"Hope you appreciate this:
Today in 1936 - Spanish fascist declare a coup against the newly elected left wing republic.
Government officials were hesitant and apprehensive to stop them.
Hardened left wing unionists and rank and file workers armed themselves. They defended the city and stopped the coup. "

I thought rounds 1 and 2 show difference between K-1 and ufc when it comes to boxing(I didn’t see any kicks). They know how to defend not just dodge, counter, and attack. Strickland could barely get passed Ampo’s gloves (what 1 in 10?) while Ampo was landing at will. Round 3 the weight difference and conditioning came into effect and Sean was landing much more.
I am not so sure if that is how it went. I saw an analysis (Al Jazeera if I remember correctly) that looked at all the information available. They presented various alternative scenarios based on that information and didn’t draw any definitive conclusions because what happened was unclear. The President was facing a significant decline in popularity and an election was on the horizon. The General that led the coup was a lifelong friend of the President. The coup made a record for the shortest coup in history - 3 hours. The General was allowed to go home, he was not immediately arrested. The General claimed the President asked to him perform the coup as an attempt to increase the President’s popularity. In other words, it was a fake self-coup.
It is a possibility. There isn’t enough information to conclusively determine what happened either way. Thus, we should also not accept the narrative that the government successfully easily thwarted the world’s shortest coup.
As a bolivian who witnessed everything, I can 100% assure you this wasn't planned by the left or by the president
Bolivia has seen more coups than any other country, and they've all been shut down quickly. It's very plausible that this was fully genuine.
We've seen this so many times in Latin America though. The original coup attempt in Venezuela the only lasted a couple days before Chavez was reinstated.
@@thegrandwombat8797 Sure, I agree. It is also very plausible it was a self-coup. I can’t remember all the details from the analysis but there were many fishy things about the way the coup transpired. All I am saying is we need to keep our minds open and not prematurely draw conclusions.
@@celeritasc9207 , it is soooo funny how you guys is always happy to embrace a extremist narrative. it was a coup and most probably US was behind it. bolivia has got the biggest mines of lithium... just saying...
I don't follow Bolivia politics. What is the reason behind both coups?
Economic crisis, civil unrest, government paralyzed by infighting. I found an article on AP news.
USA
First coup was a mix of anti-indigenous racism and desire from business interests *cough*andtheusa*cough* to open up natural resources that had been nationalized, such as their large lithium deposits. The pretense was supposedly a rigged election, which was shown to be false, but was a narrative unfortunately (well, let's be real, intentionally and dishonestly) promoted by the OAS.
