- I have decided to react to my old hairstyles ft. my damaged hair. My hair journey summarized is really just "type 4 hair that was relaxed, straightened, cut off, straightened again and then heat damaged"

The GROWTH!?!! I love this video so much, you’ve always been the most beautiful wow
Ur friendship is🔥❤️
You guys should recreate some of your old photos!
we can only hope to have a friendship as wholesome and beautiful as kianna and Jordan's
I love how she just kept going back & forth between a British accent & her reg accent 😭
Ok, so here’s my hair journey (if anybody cares, lol):
I’d been getting relaxers since I was maybe 6 or 7. I never really liked my natural hair, it’s 4c and very thick. And on top of that, it was damaged for most of my life, so I never really got to see it’s full beauty.
The first time I was ever truly proud of my hair was the first time I got box braids in 1st grade. Even though I was teased for them at my pwi, I still loved them.
I moved to Texas in 3rd grade and stopped getting relaxers (thank goodness) but then I started getting keratin treatments. They made my hair grow, but I completely lost my curl pattern. To the point where I thought my hair was naturally straight! ( it was a sad time)
But then I moved to where I am now. ( Don’t wanna give my location) I went to a hairdresser that was recommended by my mom’s friend. And lord, she did not know what she was doing! I kept getting the keratin treatments, but she didn’t know how to use the chemicals and ended up messing up my hair even more. To the point where i had hair falling out in chunks!
I stopped going to that lady, and my mom found the hairstylist that I go to now online. And she’s amazing, knows exactly how to care for curly hair. We had to cut off a lot of the damaged hair, but it’s so healthy now. It’s not as long as it used to be, but I’m learning to love it.
That was my hair journey, and thanks Kianna for posting this video, it’s good to know I’m not the only one who struggles with loving my natural hair!
Love to see it girlie 💅🏿
I'm in awe of how you talk about your past self. I'm so used to people cringing and being embarrassed that your reaction was so refreshing and full of self-love. Thank you for that.
I love how kindly you talk about your past self, most people (like me) would cringe at ourselves but you’re different and I appreciate that
facts this video inspired me to look at my past self differently
I loved the hairstyle your mother did for you when you were little.... And the flip flopss.!!....iconic 😭♥️
I had the same type of hair but I never allowed myself to have curls and I used chemicals and you know I'm in Kenya, where girls just straighten there their hair always. I damaged my hair so much that it started becoming thinner and thinner and short too. So when I turned 19 I decided to have locs, to let my hair just grow naturally and I take good care of it. I am in love with my hair now and I don't regret having locs. Now i have 1yr and 3mths locs.
Ooh good for you sis
Also I think it starts from highschool. Coming from a highschool student in Kenya, we are expected to have straight hair all through. I have to straighten my hair to a crisp evwrytime I go back to school
@@dottystan8760 right?! Omg!
Wow that’s crazy! Why do you have to straighten your hair there to school?
@@elsie4802 straightened hair is considered "tidy"
@@elsie4802 It was a rule, every girl must straighten her hair.
we've missed you Kianna!
I had my hair braids for most of my life. I would get flat iron on special occasions. I did get perms but in the 4th grade I went natural. I continued to get braids through elementary school till freshman year of high school. My hair was long and that when I started to wear it straight. Lord my hair broke off so bad. But I was so obsessed with length and I didn't want to cut my hair. Biggest mistake. My hair 9th grade to 10th grade is a hot mess. 11th and 12th I didn't use heat and I also keep my hair in protected styles. But my freshman year of college. I got heat damage it so bad it started from the roots. DIDN'T LET FRIENDS FLATIRON YOUR HAIR. I cut all the heat damage off sophomore year. At the end of sophomore year of college I dyed my hair. Currently junior year and my hair has broken off from the color, but I taking way better care. I realized don't get color if you won't put in the time to take care of it. My hair is currently growing and thriving. I made so many mistakes..
The self love and positive self talk in this video is so inspiring and uplifting. This is beautiful. I love it. I need to learn how to accept me at every damaged, broken, high, low, and inbetween moment in my life. Love this girl❤❤❤
Ok but this hairstyle on you is EVERYTHING
Kianna posting? I’ll take it🤠
14:48 “THAT’S TOUGH” sis preach 👏🏾
your voice is actually so FREAKING SOOTHING it tickles my mind
Guys let’s all pray for Kianna’s hair
That ponytail with the bang was iconic. My fav.
Not the baayang 😂😂😂😊
@@kilimanjaro5537 LMAO right!
lordd im mixed with a white mom and no dad but when i was younger my hair was like,, in a natural afro state. my mom "couldnt take care of it" and permed it until middle school :) im still suffering
yikes. Have you thought about transitioning?
@@buriedcheeries i am right now! its been abt 5 years but i unknowingly used cantu the first 3 :,) its a process but i am making progress!
@@lilyvillaverde9679 same actually! i'm still growing my hair to this day. but my story is kinda different
ahh i wish you the best 😞. i wish more white moms who have bi-racial black kids took care of their hair because hair can make people confident. i wish you the best.
@@sofia-rp4yz right. i actually think of it as a form of neglect. they chose to have a child with someone of a different race, but cannot be bothered to take care of their needs simply because it's not what they're used to. hurts my heart a lil 😭
I love that you talk about hair health! I’ve been trying to grow my hair for so long and came to this realization in college of “well why, I hate having a ton of hair on my head and I’m not good at styling it” completely changed my outlook on protective styling for myself. So many hair goals are just imposed on us as young girls it took a long time for me to really examine my life and what’s best for my hair. I’m so much happier now and my hair is too which is all that matters.
I could totally relate to having type 4 hair and feeling like it wasn't growing due to shrinkage. Even now sometimes it really feels like it is not growing and it isn't until I pull it down to kind of see the length that I am like oop nvm you're growing lol. Also, your outfit in this video is amazing!!!
Why did we all go on the 8th grade DC trip?!?! 🤣
Mines got cancelled by covid 😫
no mines was NYC but to be fair i live in DC
@@smartyltc20o7 omg same
@@smartyltc20o7 SAME. we went to niagra though so it was all good
So we all did the bang in middle school lmaooo 😭😭😭
bro I thought I was on top of the world w my little ole bang💀

Lol I cut my bangs while it was wet and when it dried my bang shrunk and it was half it’s size 😭
I’m just happy someone else went through a Bob moment sophomore year of high school against their own will 🙃💀 what a time to be alive
SAME
I swear, those hairstylist like to cut your hair into a bob and then call it a trim😭😭
Girl ur Spanish is so pretty 🤩
If this isn't a "hair journey video"😩 no way your current hair is damaged
I would absolutely love a second part of this video!!! Seeing you talk about your hair journey has helped me with my self-confidence so much!
Who else has been anticipating a notification for kianna’s video🙋🏾♀️
What a fun video! It’s always a little crazy for me too looking back at my twice-daily nearly straight brushed out childhood hair in a low pony tail to my happy, layered, 2a-3b (it’s a whole range) curls!
I love that you have shared this with us 🤎 You're beautiful!
NEED a part two I love how you speak about your past self it is literally so hard for me to love my 4c hair

Kianna’s so pretty. Love you, girl 😊.
Preschool and Prom baby but I love all of them Kiannas❤️😍
Im still learning to love my natural hair, loved the videoo 🥺❤️❤️❤️
i love the way you talk about yourself, it’s beautiful 🌻 also yesss i would love a part 2!!
Part 2 pleaseeee! 🤗🤗🤗 and my fave look was senior prom Kianna! 🤩😍 so stunning and confident!
Literally through out all of middle school I straightened my hair and broke off my hair for validation from boys. I lived in a primary white town from 3rd grade until I graduated high school and there was no one who looked like me or had my hair texture. Idk why I felt like I had to fit in but I wanted more then anything to look like the little white girls with their naturally straight hair and the little light skin girls with there inches of loose curls. It took me so long to realize that I will never be happy with myself until I stopped trying to look like someone else. Kianna you unknowingly have been there helping me and guiding me though my self love journey alongside a plethora of other black female youtubers and I just wanted to say thank you because if I never found your channel I wouldn’t be who I am today💕💕💕
definitely would love a part 2!!!
Wow you’re so confident. I can relate with your hair Journey I have been in the same situation. I’m still trying to figure out how to manage my hair
WHY ARE YOU SO PRETTY IN THIS VIDEO KIANNNNNAAAA and your braids omg
THE QUEEN IS BACK
i’ve been on and off relaxing my hair for like four years now, currently on an off kick so we’ll see how long it last but probably gonna cut off the damage in a couple months when i can naturally do cornrows for crochet, very excited
The two buns!! I loved them. I love wearing my hair like that because of how you wore it. ☺️
Khanna with the fro & braids is TOP TIER!
Loved this!💕You should do this but instead how your fashion sense has evolved over the years
Uhhh the beauty and power she holds 💕💕💕
the two buns was ICONIC. that's around the time I found your channel and yes make a part 2!!
I was following since your high school days and I remember these hair phases!
Kianna I love your current hairstyle 😍
STAHPPP I used to always wear those headbands with my hair pulled up in a bun in it’s natural state in middle school. ALL THE TIME 😭😭😭😭 it was a phase I’m not entirely proud of
not you too :')
love the eyebrows. so cute
Imma need a part two girl ❤❤
I have type 4a hair. i’ve been natural for a while now . not cutting my hair, but It’s chillen around armpit length. I really want my hair to growth, the amount of care & protective styling should pay of. loved this content btw 🥰❤️
I'm literally loving the hair journey... relatable af😩
PLEASEEE do a part 2!!! I loved this video
Loved this video so much! Yes please do a part 2!!!!
i enjoyedit, especially the talks you gave to your younger self
I love how kind you are to your past self
NOT THE PREMIERE
part two pls this was enjoyable:D
We missed you kianna
It’s so funny how you mentioned trying to do a messy bun when your hair was relaxed. I used to do the same when my hair was permed and wonder why it didn’t look like some of my non-Black peers’ hair when I did it 😂
I’m so glad I don’t know permed hair anymore!
I missed you Kianna💗
To be honest I didn’t know how to do my hair or really care for it until a little after quarantine started( so like mid may of 2020 and I’’m senior in high school now). Just one day out of boredom I started playing with it and doing twist outs and then I started perfecting my twist-outs and finding products and routines that work for me and then I started more styles and now I absolutely love my hair and know how to manage and do it. Since then my hair has grown a LOT and I embrace my curls and enhance them with my products. This vid meant a lot Kianna 💕💕💕💕💕
Loved this sm would love a part 2!! Also would u ever make a video talking more about loving both sides of ur face ik thats so specific but i relate so bad 🥲
APART TWO PLEASE💓💓 I like the last prom hair and the fan hair look😊
11:11 "it's quiet for her" idk why i laughed so hard lmaoooo
KEEP GOINGG. Ilysmmm
part two please i love seeing ur progress
Def want a part 2!!
Senior prom was my fav 😍 My hair journey is on my channel but honey my journey was a mess to. I’m purposely bald now, lol. I’d love a part 2!!!
We love the growth 😭💓
this was really cutee!! Can we get part 2 please 🥰
I’m loving the Bob 💗💗💗
bow down the queen has returned
please a part 2!!🥺❤️❤️
Definitely the very first picture. It was sooo cute!
El día que yo tenga tu nivel de confianza...se cae el mundo;)
Por cierto tu español es increíble:))))
Saludos desde Guatemala
Missed you!!
Can you do another video like this, but with your progression of being a fashionista?
Me encantò el progreso de tu pelo, madurez, confianza, o sea todo
Love seeing another Kianna spelled the exact same. And this video is so relatable I can remember going through all of these stages of hair phases
we NEED a part two I'm now invested loll
I can relate to a lot I used to always hate my natural hair until 2 years ago I started back going natural. I was always told my hairs to kinky to handle and that I should perm/texturize to maintain it. Fast forward to now I love my natural hair although the maintainable is quite pricey I won't want to change back for anything. Embracing our natural hair was seem as weird especially since the dolls always used to have straight hair and rollers..... but I'm glad things has changed since then
So pretty
you're so adorable omg
Part 2 Por favor!! My favorite was definitely the Bob part 2
These are so adorable! 🙆🏽♀️
Inspired to do a vid like this and now i regret never taking pics cuz i was also so self-conscious
I have the exact hair type as you and i relaxed my hair for like 5 yrs coz of school and also coz it was easy to manage but afterwards I got tired of it plus the heat damage and decided to chop it off in 2018.I decided to get products and do my own hair and now i have been natural for 2yrs 8months with a fro that looks like an umbrella!💕💕 I'm so confident coz where I'm from natural hair is very well respected whichever hair type as long as it's natural so i felt so proud of myself for going natural even though I was abit insecure at the beginning i don't regret it at all😊😊i also do love helping other girls who are still struggling with being confident with their natural hair💓✨...loveee your video and yes please do another one coz i kinda feel like we relate 🥺❤️since we are the same exact hair type but lengthwise yours is abit longer but mine i find i have more volume..love you Kianna !🥺💕💕
Props to Sophomore Kianna still having the most beautiful smile 🙌🏾✨after gettin stood up twice like sheesh
