Love this! Only God knows the amount of hours devoted to this research. It’s simply proves the theory about abundance. When something is abundant, people are not keen to want it. The Japanese passport affords its citizens the freedom to travel to 100s of countries visa-free, but the question for them is: what’s the gag? What do I stand to gain by leaving this blissful country? It’s almost like leaving the best club in the world for another team in Europe. The incentive is simply low.
Well done, Yomi. I enjoyed this one a lot.

Thanks Tobi! For the record, it took *lots* of hours!
Yep - the biggest factor is having a country be safe, prosperous and deeply cultural that others aren't just as attractive. Something I left out of the video as well is that the no. of Japanese students going abroad has also dipped significantly. Some of this is driven by the post-COVID travel slump but a lot of it is just deeply cultural. They like their country more than anywhere else!

As someone who holds a Singaporean passport which now is in the number 1 spot gaining visa free to 193 countries i personally don't think I'll actually visit all those countries in my lifetime as my travels mostly consist for business purposes and they mostly happen in Europe or north America with rare occasions to Africa, southeast asia, south America, etc when i do travel for leisure it's usually the same places i travel often to for business with rare visits to countries and places that are first time vists for me or just a pit-stop (i consider a visit is spending 3 days or more in that country if less than that it's a pit stop)

Especially after the Japanese Yuan devaluation, they will stay more in Japan.

I wonder how the Chinese passport performs vs the Japanese. The Chinese might just have been the ones who invented the "Japa" concept and leaked the idea to the "Nigerianese"😅

Thanks for watching! One option is having at least one Japanese parent and another is naturalisation. Good luck! 😉
