I do not take any pleasure in saying this, but I do not like her husband. I have seen him, and he is very dapper, but he is not nearly as nice as his wife. She's a sweetheart! I would NEVER last with a man with his bad attitude towards women!
I agree. For the person that said he doesn't disrespect her, his whole attitude towards her and women shows disrespect. His words are foolish. And in her time women were taught to deal with whatever a man did. The movie Fences yells it all. And this lady has just learned to adapt to his behavior and that's really sad. Sounds like these are words he has repeatedly said to her back in their younger days. Read between the lines. This isn't a Happy fulfilled marriage it sounds like it's one sided.

I prefer to look at the positive side of this, and that is she is a woman who distanced herself from him emotionally and loves her children more than him. He, ultimately, is getting what he deserves: he is way down on her list of people who are held close to her heart. She is honest, loving and holds no illusions. She did what she had to do, and I love her for it - as I am sure you do too. And for a 95-year-old man, no disrespect to their children, his words, actions and beliefs are foolish and without depth. He is pretty sad to be that age and not realize what he has had all of his life and to live in ignorance.

I would want to know because if he is not doing right like me then we need to part ways forever. My ex-narc, deceased baby daddy, was doing all kinds of ish behind my back. I warned him about HIV and had the feeling he was going to catch it. I left and never went back, decades later he caught it and brought it home to his marriage bed. SMDH. She had two sons with his raggedy azz. Disgusting. I knew it and saved myself.

As her daughter 👧 you should be speaking to her about the beautiful things in life, not always about your father, I have nothing against your dad at times he seems very full of himself, give your mother some space, on speaking about your dad. He is who he is, I’m sure 👍 your mother has a lot of other interesting conversations you all could talk about, I would not keep asking her negative things about him. She's already let her daughter know that there's no love lost for her daddy. So, she should let it go. He's told the daughter in so many words that he had his fun and will still try to have fun as old as he is. Many marriages from their generation involved infidelity on both sides; with the man starting the cheating first. Then, the women eventually cheating with someone, too. However, some women quckly learned that women aren't built like a men emotionally and stopped or left the marriage. I've scene this in many older couples, who stayed together regardless of years of infidelity. They remain married, but they ABSOLUTELY didn't care what their spouse did; as long as it was kept out of their home and faces. But, most of men still can't handle hearing "their wife" is cheating or has cheated. So, there's always been a double standard for the woman. I'm not saying this is okay either way, because infidelity is being disloyal and disrespectful to either spouse. It shows that the guilty party has no integrity for their marriage.
However, there more completely independent women after her generation; who saw what very damaging fallout of those marriages "in name and home only marriages." It was an emotionally nightmare for many the children from those type marriages. Some of us, made a conscious choice not to ever get entangled with cheating boyfriends, let alone get into a marriage that may or may not have been happy as well as, mentally and emotionally healthy. Many women now are not going to put up cheating; the first time.; because we don't have to do so. We already know, how it will end. Many of our parents taught us that life lesson.

On another video she said she wanted to have children so she got married and she didn't want to have children out of wedlock. In that same video she stated once she had her children she didn't care what her husband did as long as he respected her and treated her good. So y'all don't think the man didn't see that or feel that. The kids are already here now so it's selfish for either one of them to leave. So they made it work for the betterment of the family. 58 years later and they still together.
You should not have your mom answering those questions. It's very confusing for her. If she has been with him that long, it's old news for her.
I don't think she's confused. I think the whole point of this is to share this wise woman's perspective of life, marriage, love, etc. No sugar coating, just realistic. I think younger generations definitely could learn from Grandma. She has lived it. Period

Your mom reminds me a lot of my mom. She's obviously been through a lot, but she is a strong determined woman that refused to let anything or anyone break her or stop her number one purpose of raising her children. She even favors my mom.😊
I’m definitely staying single cuz all I got out of this is be willing to ignore cheating in the marriage. She’s blessed if he’s never brought her home any diseases. I wonder how many broken homes have been created with his Hedonistic and selfish way of thinking. How many children who grew up not knowing who their father is and might not have had the benefit of one… As long as he’s happy and safe though.

She basically doesn't care about his cheating as long as he doesn't disrespect her and he is safe? What about her safety? I have seen enough of the videos to know he definitely disrespected her during the marriage, heck he is disrespectful now in the videos. This lady is just letting us know how she had to survive in a marriage where she was stuck and likey had no monetary means to leave. Laws were not favorable to women back then. It has been said that one can not express love until they have experience love. I bet that her husband's father never loved his mother. He has practiced what he saw. The holy scriptures are clear that man will leave his mother and father to unite with his wife (not wives), and it is clear one husband and one wife throughout the scriptures. God may allow things in the old testament such as sacrificing the animal for atonement, (are you still doing that?), but allowing things (like free will) does not mean God approves of your choices. I said I get what she is saying in a worldly sense, but in no way is cheating on your spouse, (Adultery) for (your) selfish 'happiness' what God ever intended and approves for a marriage he is truly in. Have you not read? So please stop trying to confuse people with that multiple wives in the bible bit, when Gods word is clear. I agree. I stayed with a man who didn’t treat me well. I became depressed and stopped caring about myself. I have prematurely age and because I didn’t care I became obese and now I’m very sick because of it.
