I was never a big fan at the start, I was more in the Marillion. I did se them supporting Wishbone Ash in the early days but they only had a short set and the soundxwas not great. I had the pleasure of teaching with Paul many years later and he gave me their current CD. Now I cannot believe I missed so much amazing music. I did not get Peter's voice at first but consider him one of the best, most distinctive voices in prog now.
Wasn't Nichols originally not even a musician, but a literary/visual artist who the band thought should have some sort of creative involvement? If so, I wonder if Peter Sinfield might've inspired this idea? Whatever the case, I really respect the fact that such virtuosic musicians (Holmes, Orford, etc.) are cool with creative input from people not necessarily up to their level of musicality. I think that a lot of really good musicians tend to forget that music AS ART is what got them inspired in the 1st place. I'm glad they could see the value in his contributions early on, despite how inexperienced he might've initially been. Nichols is definitely the visionary of the band, & I really like the way his voice has developed. One might argue that it wasn't always the case, but ultimately he's become one of the few singers that doesn't do this over-flexing/vibrato shit (e.g., Dream Theater), but rather just sings the melody. That sinister-sneer-like sound he occasionally does is bad ass!
No, I do not agree. For me the best representatives of the golden age of NewProgressive born in the 80's are Marillion, IQ and Pendragon !!! The Pallas are a good team but have not had the response of these three groups who have had the merit of hard to rekindle the Prog in the period after Genesis.
First saw these amazing guys performing at Ziggy's in Plymouth back in the 80's. They played the venue twice, playing 'Tales from the lush attic' in its entirety on the 2nd visit. Martin Orford on keyboards was amazing.
I've got to know Paul Cook in recent years through work , he is such a nice guy , incredible drummer , and very humble , he's my drum instructor wants this pandemic is over , can't wait to see IQ in London later this year ,, fingers crossed ..
Kan er nu echt geen dynamischer en internationaal klinkendere naam bedacht worden voor een spektakelzaal als "de boerderij" ? Wil de man achter het mengpaneel even de koeien gaan melken AUB ? Wil iemand even die haan gaan kalmeren, dank u ! But gosh, what a brilliant and thight show, much better than the studio version ! Strange, the audience seems to be 90-95 % male ? And how comes less than 1 % of the visitors of this UA-cam contribution found the way to the thumbs up button ? A double disgrace, too little visitors all together and too little of those too little visitors awaken enough to push that thumb up.
@@tommeloman6969 Yeah, I realize that... But I don't know when you first watched it. For all I know, it might've been well after it had already been uploaded, unpublicized, and republicized. 🤷♂️
Great rendition of their masterpiece...Holmes and Cook are real virtuosos here...and Widow's peak is the PEAK...keyboardist is good, but lacks Orford's punch
Masterful performance… Everyone was playing in great form - and Peter’s voice was especially strong. Wow! 🙌🏻
Fantastic prog musicians !!! Love them with Genesis, Yes, Marillion and Pendragon
IQ, MARILLION, PENDRAGON : absolute n'est prog bands !
Paul Cook brilliant drummer ,hes going to teach me one day,, good friend .. 🙂👍🤗

A great voice, but also that ability to inhabit the stage personae with complete conviction. A rare and effective combination.
Excellent Songs, Performances and Interpretations, my Great Fellows of IQ from so Fantastic England !!!!
THis is as good as the early 80's when I first saw this live...
I'd even say they became better, like wine...
yeah especially Nicholls his voice has only improved as time has gone on

Fantastic gig. Influenced by Genesis and Hackett especially they really find their own way!!
Going to see them for the first time in Quebec City next April 2017, IQ Forever Live!!
Was such a great show I drove all the way from Virginia just to see them. Definitely worth it
Stunning performance
Great concert for a fantastic Album , a soundrtrack of my distant youth. Thanks for posting it
Genial, tolle Qualität der Band. Superb Prog Rock👍👍
The best prog bands of the 80's together with Marillion...
MrJESTER66 pendragon! :o
Pallas

Don't forget Twelfth Night. Fact and Fiction is one of the best album of the 80's and Live and let live clearly the best live album.
To me Pallas had the strongest neo release with the Sentinel. Closest to Symphonic prog and strongest vocals.
I easily can see why this group can become a favourite. GBG NO EDITS.
Brilliant performance all the way through this concert... would love to have been there! Long live IQ!
❤ gracias

Love seeing them great band miss them xx
Great gig. Some lovely bass playing from Mr Jowitt on Magic Roundabout, though not on camera at any point.
I agree with you. That complex bass line deserved some attention...
Fantastic

Always a lot of emotions.

Wow! I have to watch it all over again.

Geen idee waarom het De Boerderij heet??
This upload, for the longest time, stopped being available from my searches... Did something happen then (and un-happen recently)?
Cr8Tron weird ,sorry but idk
@@tommeloman6969 Yeah? How long ago did you first start seeing it available without any interruptions?
Cr8Tron for me it’s always been available

Cr8Tron well at least you can watch it now

Vet! De zanger lijkt wat op Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones;p
Je hebt gelijk. Heel grappig.
