This video shows the condition of the scooter after riding it for about two months now. As I address some flaws of the scooter, do keep in mind that this is my main transportation, I ride the RX7 to work every day. So, it is an important machine to me. I really like this scooter and want it to be perfect, but these flaws (especially the light) go against the selling point, (knowing what IP66 rating means) is nowhere close to a water-resistant design, I simply cannot recommend someone to blindly drop $4000 just because it looks "cool" that cool looking thing will only last for a week, and you will start facing problems like me unless Roadrunner addresses these problems and come up with a solution. Simply, there are so many "better" options if what you are getting for a $4000 are dying light, loose stem, water leaks, poor QC, and so on. During sunny day rides where lights are not needed and there is no water, this thing works are a true hyper scooter, tons of power and smooth riding experience, and it meets/exceeds all the expectations. Its just that rainy night that everything gets terrible but having a nami klima next to me that survived these conditions over a year, it is also true that I have pretty high standards when it comes to water resistant design on a scooter. I still have to go to work in rain, so my scooter better be able to handle it. but if the lumilor light problem seems to be a design flaw that cannot be fixed, I'll have to turn this thing into a "midnight" edition by getting rid of the lumilor and repainting the body. Adding some rubber seals to improve the water design will most likely get rid of its major flaws. Heads up for another video, my metal fenders are already damaged and bent so, I replaced it with a new plastic fender, and it looks good. I'm thinking about wrapping the scooter (where lumilor lights are) with a carbon fiber style vinyl wrap to match it with the fender. As always, any questions, please let me know.
I was really exited about the release of the RX7 but really wanted to see a proper review on youtube and see how the scooter is in "person" from someone else's pov. I just want to thank you so much for being the first person to make a make a review of the RX7 and you sure made one fast. I was looking for a 4k scooter and was deciding between the Inmotion RS and the RX7. I sure am glad that I didn't go with the RX7, haven't had any issues with my RS so far. I am curious though, between the RS and the RX7 which one would you have picked if you knew all these problems before hand along with all the other issues reported on reddit?
🇨🇳 Unfortunately ALL these scooters are made from Chinese parts. What do you expect? That's why I haven't purchased a scooter yet. I don't trust Chinese products. Taiwan, Japanese.. Yes. But NOT Chinese. Now let's see the arduous process you will have to go through. Another point people....never buy ANYTHING that has just been released... You are just the Guinea pig. Vehicles are regulated by the DOT. Escooters are NOT! Save your money and use UBER instead. Seriously 💯
Side "Roadrunner" lights are dying on RS5's all over UA-cam as well. I think it's a similar technology but both of them are now not working on my RS5 Max. I asked for help, they told me to open it up and look for bad connections which I didn't everything is connected, glued, or zip tied so it's not a connection thing. I traced it all the way back to the 12v control box which was cracked and had tiny wires rubbing up against sharp plastic at the time of assembly. I filed down the sharp spots and put hot glue around the wires so that couldn't vibrate and rub on the broken control box. In any case, it didn't seem to be causing the issue with the side lights so those are still inop. Hopefully I've avoided future lighting issues at that control box though. Roadrunner has some serious QC issues.
I'm flabbergasted the research and developed department didn't spot these issues. Just go to show these companies rush to get their scooters out and expect the customers to find the faults.
Thats really interesting how the water conducting electricity fixes the lumilor spots temporarily! I heard that roadrunner was going to ship out new lumilor panels that have a protective coating on them and that they were supposed to have this coating from the start but didnt for some reason. Now I wonder if that will even solve the issue, because as you show in your video, the spots appear in places that wouldnt come in contact with flying debris
Thank you for showing this. I like the fact that it's made in the U.S. however it doesn't mean it's quality. I like the removable battery aspect of it but I think I'll stay away from this model. This isn't the first complaint on this scooter model I've been reading having issues. I'll stick to my Nami for now. Sucks that you're experiencing these issues. No excuses that this $4k rx7 to have these issues. We expect better. Companies seem to only care about the initial sale $$$ and overlook quality. Thanks again for being honest and not a reviewer where most lie because of affiliated connections. I hate those types.
Keep in mind it is a scooter not a submarine. I think you need to include that FEW scooters meet the IP66/67 standards even though some claim to. I'd say this is an IP54 but given the power it has, I'd never want to operate mine in the rain or on a wet surface. Also I don't know if that mount is yours for the steering damper but the one that came with mine is a hex nut shaped mount. A crescent wrench later it is SOLID and does not move one ounce. I can see that you are really fierce on yours. I think if you want a scooter for hard core offroading in very wet conditions you'd be better off with a stripped scooter that doesn't have illumination. I was going to get the Teverun Street Fighter 7650R Ultra but nobody has them so in my impatience I got the RX7 but I have zero issues.
In I was going to buy this just because of the lights but I’m going to get a in motion rs in add my on lights plus the the display looks more high quality in it connects to your phone
because how thin the shaft is, even when its unfolded, lifting it up with the stem will be shaky and sketchy. I often pick it up grabbing the front fork and the rear handle, not the stem.
Too bad... This scooter had promise... Good components alone doesn't make a great scooter. I'm still impressed with my Klima 1700 miles only thing was the break sensor and rotors and brake pads. It's also silent with no rattles or weird noises. Best of luck, hope you get your scoot straighted out.
Klima is crazy. I also have mine at 3200mi. it lasted through all weather conditions like storms and snows and it still looks and works good as new. only one motor failure due to water damage. perhaps that's why my standards are high on the rx7.
@Nabicook Thank you for documenting and sharing your experience with your scooter. Any new product always carries excitement into the community and it's hard to always get an honest review. I myself never saw the value in Lumilor and was even more turned off by it when Roadrunner stated that it was a big portion of the price for the RX7. If they make a version of this scooter without Lumilor and sell it at 3k, I would consider purchasing it. Ultimately, if I was buying only 1 scooter costing between 3 and 4k, it would be the Yume Predator. It's not the fastest, but plenty fast, and is massive! Everything about it is heavy duty. The big draw for me is the battery pack in it. 3 to 4 thousand cycle life versus 5 to 800 for typical Samsung cells.
This is simple corrosion from a lack of moisture protection. this happens to a lot of lumaglow. and it can be just the moisture from the air, unless it is properly sealed this will continue to happen sadly.
